A friend that works in EA had this to say: "All decent ideas and concepts for skins were shot down. Broken updates were partly intentional in that everyone was very aware of the bugs but were not allowed to do anything about them. All they cared about was milking BF2 and some higher ups seemed to have a vendetta against players (especially those who bought attention to bugs, shady practices etc) for pressuring them to remove loot crates. It's sad because working on a star wars game was a dream come true, I'm just disappointed that the dream turned out to be a nightmare fuelled by greed."

@@emper0r14 bioware hasn't been good in half a decade at least. Andromeda was trash, don't even get me started on Anthem. Last good game they made was dragon age inquisition and that was roughly 6 years ago. Since then, many of the developers who worked on their good games have left. As much as I want dragon age 4, ik it most likely won't be good and could have me wishing it wasn't even made. That's how little faith I have in Bioware now.

Sorry but this doesn’t make sense. The bugs part might be true and shows EA are super a**holes. However how could they “Milk the game” and “turn down skin concepts”? When you consider that the only monetization the game had was the skins. Anyone who actually plays the game knows this. Milking the game would be putting out many mediocre skins very fast and nerfing credit-gain (Like they did by eliminating the “daily crate”, however they someone in the team must have been smart enough to add 1 daily challenge and making 1 challenge be “play for 10 minutes”)

You’re either really young or you weren’t a gamer before 2010, because EA used to produce some of the BEST games on the market. There’s a reason they grew to be the powerhouse company they did. It’s only when they decided that profits were THE most important aspect in gaming, that they started their downfall. Greed is what undid them. EA is a shell of its former self, and I highly doubt they’ll EVER be able to recover from it, but to say they “shouldn’t have started”, is to ignore all the quality games they made in the mid-2000’s. Just because you’re really young doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to play older, quality games (maybe it is, young folks CANNOT deal with old graphics, I get that). Go back and play the REAL EA games and you’ll se what I’m talking about. EA is absolute garbage now, but it wasn’t always that way.

I’ve had this game since launch and ppl think I’m dumb or didn’t believe me when I would say that this game compared to its predecessor doesn’t feel like Star Wars , or that it was made by actual sw fans. I mean cmon they hype us up for new content then release like one hero and a map .. from launch they focused on the sequel trilogy more (sequels were more relevant =more money) I remember I got purple star cards for kylo from crates and I would hardly play as him.. and at the end we got 2 bowling balls instead of Ashoka or ventress or padme.. how???

It’s amazing how almost no one noticed that like you said.. they sold celebration as a way to instantly get all future skins and then they pull the plug without delivering a single one for free after that. That’s a kick-starter level scam.. wow.. but not surprised given its EA. Edit: I want a refund. After how this game launched and all the other shenanigans Disney has pulled off with Star Wars, I had no intention of getting this game and stayed away for 2 years. Then it was on sale for like.. $8 and I figured.. why not? They removed the loot box system and added more hero’s and content since launch so I went ahead and got it. If I am being honest.. I was surprised that they kept adding anything at all after removing the loot boxes.. figured they’d say “f*#@ it!”’after they couldn’t make extra money anymore and not do anything as a way to get back at us for having to remove it. But yeah.. I got celebration because I was already really behind and didn’t want to have to grind forever to get caught up.

Of course it was complete disaster, they failed at almost every turn, in absolutely spectacular fashion. At this point we know how the "games as a service" is tolerable. You give me the first month free (or give it to me free at launch) and then set up a labyrinth of pay walls that is fun to navigate. Not I pay you for the game, and it's bare and hollow, so I have to pay you again to actually have content in it.

Wow. Just got the game about 3-4 weeks ago. Whilst I am having a blast playing this game simply because I love Star Wars, along with how gorgeous the game looks and how playing with the heroes and villains feels, I can also feel your guys’ pain. This game could’ve been fleshed out for many more years to come if people weren’t so greedy for money. Maybe I should just be grateful that we got a game like this.

Like you said, they are sitting on AN ABSOLUTE GOLD MINE!! EA forced DICE to rush the realsese of the game and, honestly, I don’t they have ever recovered. They missed so many Hero’s, Skins and even naps that could have been added. Like and Old Ben skin, Mace Windu Hero and many, many more. I am actually very annoyed with EA as I feel as though I have been lied to. When I brought the Celebration Edition, I was convinced that I would be getting a lot of free skins for all my favourite Hero’s. When none came I felt like I had Ben cheated (which I had been) I am so disappointed that they decided to pull the funding for Battlefront 2 as it was/is one of my all time favourite games. If only they had properly thought things through before launch maybe this would carry on and I can’t help but feeling like this is not DICE’s fault. I really hope they decide to change their minds, although it’s probably too late now.

I think it's more that Battlefield 5 didn't make the money EA wanted. They probably wanted to kill BF2 as soon as the monetization scheme was removed, but kept updating it because Battlefield 1 was making enough money to get by. With the absolute failure of Battlefield 5, they killed it prematurely and started up development on Battlefield 6 early. But since they don't have enough devs at dice, and also because of the pandemic, they had to steal the devs from BF2. EA doesn't care because BF2 wasn't making them a lot of money and Battlefield is their flagship shooter. What they seemingly don't realize is that Star Wars is a much more marketable series to more people, but hey I'm not an executive.

I'm pretty biased since I've played the game since beta, but Riot really killed it with League. They made an incredibly fun free to play game, that only monetized skins and other cosmetics, and it's the biggest fucking game in existence arguably. Imagine if each hero had anywhere from 5-10 or maybe even more skins, I easily would of dropped money on a few of my favorite characters....especially a certain few who didn't even make it into the game.

I agree 100% with everything you said about EA being dirty and greedy with this game from the beginning to the end. I would have gladly paid $50 more for the season pass and gotten more content and better development from DICE. My question to you is since this game is 3 years old now and only costs $30 ( does it even cost that anymore?), when does EA need to give up on it and look to developing BF3, especailly with new systems coming out this year? We have definitely given them plenty of wants and needs for them to create for the next game. I just hope the start work on a new BF title sooner than later.

i am still pissed about the whole pulling the plug on battlefront 2 and working on battlefield 6 battlefield 5 is rated 2.7 stars while battlefront 2 is rated 4.5 stars which is far better and battlefront 2 would make EA and dice a lot more money but you know EA in my opinion disney should give the star wars label to a company like bungie or rockstar games who both do amazing jobs with their games or just give the label to dice

Really good that someone speaks out on this. It’s completely true. Imagine if they did a sort of Overwatch 2- style dlc, where they implement a bunch of new heroes, maps, reinforcements etc from the old republic era into the multiplayer for free, but then created a story for which you had to pay, also set in the old republic with a few exclusive skins you could earn there. I would’ve bought it, and I think a shit load of people too.

EA uses the original battlefront monetization model in it's sports games and make an ungodly amount of money from it, when they tried to put that same business model into battlefront the backlash was so extreme Disney made them back off it and at the same time EA killed support for the game, EA isn't going to put anything into starwars because it can release a sports game with that same unfair monetization and the players won't say boo.

In my opinion the monitsation was not the reason they pulled the plug, I play battlefield and swbf2 and battlefield v had a terrible launch just like swbf2 but it could not recover from it. Battlefield is a well known franchise that ea and dice owns and they needed to send all of their devolpers over to give battlefield the expierence it had before battlefield v to save the franchise.

I would have been totally ok with battlefront support ending if the scarif update was bigger, it was the same size as a usual one, especially since it was delayed a month! You would have thought that in that time they would have been working on something big. As someone who has poured tones of money into this game, buying loot boxes and the celebration edition, I really wish EA would give us a better value for money. It’s clear that they don’t care about the player base and, honestly, I’m really surprised they’re still in business with all the hate that base been going around for years!

I like reinforcements at the beginning of the game but now I really don’t. People just play campy as heroes and it’s almost impossible to kill them during the ground phase of supremacy. Special units in general have a ton of health and a person playing a normal unit can almost never win a 1v1 vs a special unit. Also after playing for a few minutes into the game, u have enough points to just keep playing special units, and if u want to get high on the scoreboard and win, you have to keep playing those special units; so you end up just playing the same special units pretty much every game and they have way better health and guns than the normal units and I don’t really liek that about the game. I really like the original battlefront 2 system where there’s a bunch of classes but none of the characters have insane health or weapons to where u only want to play 1 or 2 of the characters over and over again
