Remember when Nissan sold good middle priced sedan cars like the Tida? I had one. Lovely. Cost me R165 000 brand new. Now they sell a Renult Kwid (rebranded as a 'Magnite'). Horrible product. And what happened to the Leaf? Several secondhand models (R150 000) drive around Swakopmund and seem to be fine. They dropped the ball there.
@BubblesTheCat13 күн бұрын
We also had a Tida. Ugly looking, but that 1.6 Almera engine was fantastic. I still daily my 01 Sentra 140 Si. It's still mint, and the best car I've ever owned😊
@BubblesTheCat13 күн бұрын
Nissan committed suicide years ago when they got in bed with Renault/Stellantis crap. They used to make very good cars before that. Cars that were on par with Toyota. Who can remember the old Datsun, the Skyline, etc? I drive a 2001 Sentra 140 Si in mint condition, and after 24 years and more than 300k kilometres, I can confidently say it's the best car I've ever owned. By a wide margin. I almost daily get offers to buy it from me for up to R70, 000. Which is not bad for such an old vehicle. After the Renault merger, their vehicles turned into cheap junk. Planned obsolescence throw-away crap 😠
@manoman013 сағат бұрын
The secret of a good car is getting the manufacturer's halo model, that doesn't mean it must be an expensive car but MUST be built meticulously because if it goes south the car manufacturer will go south too. Those are usually very well made cars.

The thing to note is that Renault is selling their stake in Nissan. That will prove to be a fatal blow, and knocks confidence in the brand. They did not evolve the Leaf enough, that was one big mistake, and the current Qashqai should have been a much bolder design.

A lot of manufacturers going electric are struggling. They invest a lot of money. It doesn’t sell a lot of them.
@BubblesTheCat12 күн бұрын
@aroux15 The thing is, people don't want electric cars. In the USA, they can't give them away. Nobody wants an overpriced EV that takes forever to charge (inconvenience), has massive depreciation, very high insurance premiums, and the fire hazard they pose. Almost all people who have had Ev's have gone back to ice.

@BlitzAce-pj9jrКүн бұрын
@@BubblesTheCat1 that analogy makes no sense, they are people who want EV and there's people who don't them and that's fine but should the world be concentrated on EV cars to reduce emissions absolutely not there's certainly flaws on EV. James May commented on a podcast that the world should consider investing in other alternatives instead of EV as a concept.

I don't think jaGuar intend to appeal to the traditional high net worth individual. They probably intend to appeal to high net worth Gen Z's, specifically. A narrow market segment, but jaGuar never had a broad market anyway. As someone who would never have been a prospective Jaguar customer (i.e. my opinion doesn't matter), the Jaguar 00 concept reminds me of the batmobile from Batman: The Animated Series. I like it.

One of my peeves with the Jaguar logo is that they are the only car company to have the picture and word on the rear. Most car companies have the confidence to just have the picture and the model on the rear but not Jaguar they have to tell us twice that its a Jaguar. This means in social and online images the rear of the car looks busy. Deep down i think everyone interprets the use of both the symbol and word as being a form of repetition. To me the new style of the car shows that they want to position the new Jaguar direction inline with the topend range rover.

As a current owner of a Jaguar I can honestly say its too late not to alienate me. I've seen plenty of concept cars in my decades of car purchases and some have left me cold, while others made me anxiously await the arrival of the production vehicle. None have made me loathe the company that produced them.....until now. The saddest part of this is that Jaguar produced the 2018 European Car of the Year, their first and only EV the I-Pace. They let it languish with no updates (the hugely disappointing flat front panel (not a grill) is NOT a refresh). Why not update a great design with 8 year newer battery, motor, and other technology? I've never had a car that had people stopping me at traffic lights to ask me about it before. Petrol heads with staggeringly loud rumble packs among them (and lovely women too). Jaguar had a real hit that they just abandoned. Incredibly stupid and ill-considered on their part.

Jaguar's new coupe design misses the mark entirely. It lacks the dynamic, fast-car aesthetics typical of GT and sports cars.
