Wow, Nikki....you are so brave 💝. It was great seeing your drive through all those miles and, some how, I have missed the last two videos, so I'll be catching up on those too👍. It's so brilliant seeing this, as I have never been to any part of America and enjoy any vlog that shows a country in more detail and on the move is a great way to show the terrain 👌. Also, a tiny bit of snow here...never mind ice...brings Britain to a halt, so well done you for pushing through that ice road...and in such mountainous terrain too 😮. Glad you are home and hope you are settling in well and looking forward to hearing how you are getting on in your new area 😁💝😘

Sally, I promise it was not bravery, it was idiocy! Everyone warned me to stay away, but I like to learn my lessons the hard way, LOL. Snow is the same way in Maryland, no one knows what to do. I hope one day you get to come visit America, and see the sights for yourself. I know Tim and I want to visit the UK someday. We love to travel!

@SewingatMidnight5 жыл бұрын
I think one of those passes up there was where the Donner party ate each other, so yes, I can see why they may have done that! I get carsick when I am a passenger, for some reason it doesn't bother me to drive it myself. I used to get queasy everytime Time and I would go to West Virginia to go snowboarding. I think its because he was driving.

You are correct, four corners, not much there, but hey, I have the picture. Get settled in, get a glass of wine, and get sewing. 😀

I have to say that you’re really brave driving cross country by yourself! AND driving in the mountains at night in the dead of winter? I was home in Canada last weekend and had to drive on the highway for about 10 minutes in whiteout conditions on a road I know and almost lost my mind ... you deserve a new sewing machine or something for your mountain driving experience!
@SewingatMidnight5 жыл бұрын
I had some offers to drive with me and I refused them all. For me, a long solo trip is the best way to start a new chapter in life. You get a lot of time to clear your head and thing, and of course you get to control your own pee and food breaks! Now, I did not enjoy a controlled slide down a mountain in the dark, but it was only about 30 minutes out of 5 days of travel. Also, once I had gotten to safety, I feel like the adrenaline burned off about 1/2 a pound and I felt very, very, alive!
@sagepreaumx99035 жыл бұрын
Durango is SO BEAUTIFUL! Western Colorado is totally mountainous. Hope you have studded snow tires. Amazing the roads were clear anywhere in March! Congratulations on getting through the ice rink. I would have turned around and not tried it even WITH studded snow tires. I lived in Colorado majority of my life and I know how to drive on snow and ice. In Washington the highway patrol won't even let anyone without studs or chains go over snowy passes. Not so in Colorado but then going into Seattle there's more traffic and danger of accidents. You went through Colorado to get to AZ? You must have gone through New Mexico, right? There is fabulous Mexican food in New Mexico. Four Corners? That's a desolate area; dust storms is about right. Did you have any books on CD to help pass the time? How long did it take you to drive all that way? How many hours did you drive each day? You reminded me to mark rest stops on a long trip. Did you go through Flagstaff?
@SewingatMidnight5 жыл бұрын
I took 160, so the only bit of New Mexico I went through was putting my foot on the corner of it, LOL. I basically went through the upper east corner of AZ down through Flagstaff to Phoenix. I had no snow tires, no chains, no nothing. It was dumb, but it wasn't the first time I have done this, I also did this in Washington going to Leavenworth, and I passed through Wyoming in the middle of winter as well. I swear to god I never learn my lesson with this stuff! My poor mom has been suffering her whole life trying to keep me out of the mountains! I mostly listened to music, but I did take a half day to listen to a podcast. I drove for about 12 hours a day and because I was meandering around taking the interstate sometimes and other times taking the long scenic route it took me about 4 days. I could have made it in two and a half if I wasn't screwing around on scenic byways and stuff.

So glad you are safe and sound. I am not a fan of "white knuckle drives". You are braver than me doing that kind of road trip alone. The pee stops is what would bother me the most. I am Canadian have been to Four Corners before. A great area of your country. Love Arizona have been there twice and would go back in a heart beat. Love the classical music.
@SewingatMidnight5 жыл бұрын
Peggy, although I added in the classical later to cover up some of the road noise, I did have it in heavy rotation on the old ipod during the drive. I am a fan of waltzes and Appalachian Spring. I don't mind the bathroom breaks, but when Tim and I go together I have to harass him to get him to stop, so honestly it works out better for me to go it alone. Also, I find long solo road trips to be peaceful for the most part and a good way to get my mind right before I start a whole new life!
