The original author says that Mikasa could not forget Eren until the end. The child Mikasa was carrying in her arms at the end was not her child with Jean, but an adopted child. They were married, but Jean knew that he was not Mikasa's number one. Jean proposed adopting the child out of guilt toward Eren, and Mikasa agreed to do so. Simply put, Mikasa remained chaste to the end and loved Eren.

Mikasa shows Ymir that even if you love a person, when you need to stand up to him, you do it. Ymir refuses to go back to the Coordinates to make any more titans and moves on, and the titan power ends. For those that still don't understand the last 1/3: they were memories that Eren had taken the time to build and bury inside of each one of his friends' heads at different points in time when he was still alive, by short visits every time. Eren would explain to them what he must do and why. They are like his letters left to them, but in a different form. But every time he locked those memories after the visits, to only be unlocked after he died. His power had limited duration so if he had more to say, he would need to do multiple visits. That's why Armin looked differently in each segments because Eren visited him when Armin was at different ages; the last memory segment was buried in Armin head when he was on the ship with Annie. Once Eren died, all those memories were unlocked and all of a sudden they all understood Eren's true intentions. The middle scene where Eren and Mikasa spent time together was Eren showing Mikasa the alternative future if she had just answered differently when Eren asked her what she thought of him, back towards the end of S4 in the camp. Mikasa refused to stay in that scene and forget him, and woke up when Eren's power ran out. The exchange with Armin: Part of Eren's guilt was for wielding the power but not being smart and therefore he could not imagine any better solutions that could result in a better future than killing 80% of humanity. In a way he was saying if he were any smarter, if the power had been vested in someone smarter like Armin, perhaps the destined future would be better - and he blames himself. Armin essentially said to Eren that he didn't need to bear all the guilt alone, that Armin is willing to share the burden, responsibilities and consequences with him, that he will be happy to spend the rest of eternity in hell together with Eren. They are facing everything together, Eren no longer needs to be alone, even in hell; it's an ultra warm gesture from Armin. At the end, Eren did save most of his friends and everyone he knew on Paradis island. History did eventually repeat itself and Paradis still met its end, but that's hundreds of years later and not relevant to anyone he knew. Yeah there are a lot of details buried that are easy to miss if you just watch this once. If you do a second or third watch, you will see a lot of details. Down to little ones such as Ylena pausing and getting teary eyes because the crate she was about to handle happened to contain baseballs, which reminded her of Zeke.

Those were Ymir peeking into her life to see her at different stages, all leading up to the final scene Ymir wanted to see, which was Mikasa killing the person she loved the most: inspiring Ymir to let go of King Fritz and end the titan cycle despite her love for him, because she couldn't imagine it was possible to kill/move on from someone you love with your life until she saw Mikasa actually do it.

If Bertolt is eaten by Dina right then and there, the Titan's power will not be inherited by Armin. Therefore, Eren in the future manipulated Dina and made her eat Carla. In other words, it was Eren who killed his mother.

The rumbling stopped after Zeke was killed, and the reason behind it is that Zeke's royal blood is what made the rumbling possible. So if the royal blood is gone, the rumbling will also stop. Additionally, the person at the end with Mikasa is actually Jean, and they end up together.

Yo im actually speechless at this ending. My boy Eren put the weight of the world on his shoulders and sacrificed himself for the Eldian people. Genocide is wrong and can never be justified but in this situation Genocide was inevitable. It was just a matter of which grouo would be slaughtered. And the fact that he was visiting everyone and erasing there memories explains all those random dreams and flash back / crying moments throughout the series. I was not expecting things to come around full circle like that. Now when i listen to the song “Rumbling” (the opening from last season) the lyrics hit DIFFERENT. Standing ovation 10/10 series !!!

Well that’s it, attack on titan is finally over Watching this episode made me feel so emotional seeing the final moments of the series finally he animated 2 years later feels so surreal I also feel like the anime was able to fix the problems I had with the original manga ending, the conversation between armin and eren was extended and some dialogue was changed and the few changes of dialogue made a big difference and improved the scene overall The animation was amazing im so happy they got arifumi Imai (the guy who animated Levi vs zeke in season 3) back to do one final scene and he did not disappoint Overall this episode was everything I wanted it to be and more, thank you Isayama for making such an incredible series that will be remembered for decades to come and thank you to Wit and mappa studios for going through some very rough production times to make this anime adaptation possible

Honestly this season really solidified many characters legacy, I mean the hatred of Eldians and Marleys have ended, Levi was able to finish Zeke after emotional freedom, Levi was one of the few ogs that survives out of all survey corps, Ymir Fritz can rest after her suffering whilst Mikasa and Eren finally admit to their feelings The last bit of ending of history repeating which caused many anger and frustration due to all efforts being "wasted" but it's fits aot in terms of ambiguity

People kept rambling about how "bad" the ending was. Now tell me, what was so bad about this ending? Im sure they have been rehearsing what to say so let me ask them another question after that. WTF do you think would have made a better ending? This is literally the truth of the world. No matter who does what, who sacrifices what, or who loses what. Humans will always be at each others throat or the smallest of reasons. What Eren did was absolutely unjustifiable. But by doing that he gave the remainder of the world a chance at freedom. A chance that was not a possibility if he didn't do what he did. So now tell me, who tf was in the wrong? The answer is no one. No one is in the wrong in a war. What happened at the end is literally what would have happened in a real world scenario. No matter what peace was achieved, someone would still be fighting over it. Eren ended titans, he ended the differentiation between Eldians and Marleyans and made his friends heroes by becoming the bad guy they took down. But even after that, conflict doesn't end. Because THAT's who humans are. And at the VERY end, everything comes full circle in a sort of loop with that boy entering the tree. *To you 2000 years from now, and From you 2000 years ago.*

She becomes free when Eren dies. Everyone could transform. If Ymir was free they wouldn't be able to cause she literally makes their titan bodies. His source of power left the body? The founding titan IS IN Eren. You know, when he ate his dad? After touching Zeke he gained access to the transformation and its powers. After Zeke died he lost the powers and retained the transformation. That was not the colossal titan you buffon. It was Eren's founding titan Transformation. He only killed 80% because the remaining would revere his friends as heroes and they would be saved. Now what tf are your "So many more reasons". One of my very first anime, 10 years has been officially over the anime and manga industry's breakthrough masterwork "Attack on Titan" leaves a lasting impression on us audience, even with its flawed resolution for others. While endings are important, the trip itself is what really defines this show, as its amazing storytelling and character development serve to remind us that this series is a masterpiece itself

You managed to interpret a lot of things, including the important part of Ymir seeing that Mikasa loves Eren and was able to kill him, something that Ymir herself didn't get it with King Fritz... No, that was definitely Mikasa with a baby. The man is a mystery, though. However, the silhouette looks like Jean. They wouldn't show a woman coming by with a baby and a man and then later on the same woman with her child and grandchildren if it weren't Mikasa and then show Mikasa's funeral. The whole sequence was Mikasa.

I already knew the ending cause i readed the manga. Cause when the manga was near to the end i don't wanted any spoilers. But damn still the final episode in anime hited even more hard and BIG respect for Mappa they did a very great work till the end and ofc Wiz did pretty good work too. What a insane and amazing journey this was. AOT is one of the best manga/anime in history for sure. Thank you Ishiyama sensei for this master piece!

In the manga, the dream Eren wakes up from in the beginning of the story is the dream of the cabin, with Mikasa saying “see you later Eren.” Because of this, many of us thought that it was a time loop where Eren constantly relives the whole anime in and endless loop. I think all that happened was the future Eren sent those memories to kid Eren. Im glad that’s the case because it means that Eren can rest once he dies and does not have to relive all the suffering forever.

So Mikasa's choice determines the ending. Do you remember the episode when Eren talked to Mikasa and asked "What am I to you?" If Mikasa told the truth that she loved Eren. Eren will make the choice to run away with him and live out the remaining 4 years of his life. and the scene where Mikasa falls asleep and Eren wakes her up. is an alternative ending. Which means Paradise will be destroyed because William Tybur continues to declare war with Paradise

fun fact: the last scene where the kid going into the tree, the titan is going to start again, because ymir did the same and the bug creature thingy give ymir the power of titan, so the kid in the last scene will start the titan again, its a never ending loop, its time for the futuristic world to fight the titan TATAKAI
