To the point this wouldn't fly these days. I lol'd a lot during it. I was just a kiddo back then so I am watching this now that I'm an adult. Embarrassing women though is a thing I'm surprised he got away with. But it was a different era; I get it. I was ~5 years old during this episode. I found Letterman when I was 13 or so. Got to see his show when I was 16. They didn't check ID's in those eras. I was with my Mom. Loved it. These archives have been getting me through a rough time in life of the era before my time. It's nice to see where he started from. I saw his old shows. Been going through almost all of 'em I hope. There's a LOT of air time for Letterman. I can't believe it. Thanks Don and the Letterman crew for making these accessible ad free.

I remember well how hilarious and troubling this was at the time. Your posting of it and other crucial, deftly edited early Letterman videos is deeply appreciated.

Oh my god. I remember watching this on tape the day after. To this day, I had no idea why the audio was all messed up. And, this was one of the earlier episodes I watched, which meant I barely knew this was not their voices. Wow. just Wow. You are straightening out childhoods, Don!

Thinking back today on some of my favorite memories of my first crush, Raquel Welch. Fathom came in first, but the Overdub show was a close second.

I had the great honor of meeting both Peter Fernandez and Corrine Orr at Anime Weekend Atlanta in the late nineties. Both were wonderful people. RIP Peter.

Close your eyes during the Raquel Welch interview and it almost feels like a middle-age Speed Racer and Trixie just kibbutzing

Did Dave do anything remotely as good as this on The Late Show? Late Night was the golden era for me. Brilliance.

All I remembered about this was Dave saying "Brazeeel." I wasn't sure it really happened. Now I know I wasn't crazy. Does anyone remember why they did this? Just the non-sequitur nature of Dave in those days -- plucked it from his butt?

@dongiller do you have any more Letterman interviews with Sandra Bernhard? There are about 18 on youtube and she's done 30 with Letterman. Would love to see more, thank you. Your vids are the best!

Don, where are you getting such high quality copies of these episodes? Any chance of going all out and providing chronological full episodes? Actually, maybe you shouldn't. I might never leave my house again.
@dongiller7 жыл бұрын
Most are from my own collection; some are from others' collections. And still more are from primary sources. I've been contemplating a complete chronological strategy, but, like you, I'd have entirely no life left.
