As far as medical goes, your condition exists only if you tell them it exists. But with that being said, don’t join the army if you have panic disorder, severe depression, missing a leg, are schizophrenic, have heart disease, etc. Be smart about it. If you had adhd when you were 5 and were only treated for a month, don’t say anything about it. I had a guy in 30th AG reception who had panic disorder and lied about it, had a severe mental breakdown and could barely get out of bed. He was sent home a week later. Probably best he didn’t handle a gun or get sent into a war zone

I think it would be interesting to hear from perhaps an MP or military investigator about the criminal world of the army or military in general. For instance drugs, prostitution, sexual offenses, murder, war crimes, etc.. You should ask how common those types of crimes are. Perhaps ask how often gangs pop up in the military. These are just ideas but if you could make these into a video I'd love you forever. I've always wanted to do something in military law enforcement.

It is easy to do but depends on the In and Out Calls. There is a list published every so often that will tell you what is available. Your current mos must be Out Yes to switch, meaning that MOS is not short handed at the time. If so, you can switch to any mos that you qualify for (asvab) that is In Yes.

With my USMC recruiters, they’ve been pretty chill and understanding. My dad did 20 years in the USAF so pretty much my case was I showed up and told them my limited drug history and they just said “yeah just make sure you’re clean now and boom” from my knowledge they don’t want you to not enlist, they might waive something here and there if they have to but they want you to join if possible. EDIT: oh yeah I mentioned my dad because I showed up and the “bullshit” “here’s why you should enlist” talk was totally skipped, my mind was made up. I just had simple and more complex questions.

I’ve already lost 50lbs so far, and have about 130lbs to go to reach the requirements for my height and age. I’m not in a major rush to lose weight and join, however I do want to know how long the pre-basic boot camp will help me. Or like how much more weight should I lose before I speak to my local recruiter? I’m already 30 so I do sorta have a time limit.

Heini Botha LOL. that's if you have a GED instead of a regular high school diploma. believe me, just about most people you see in the Army didn't have any college before they joined and many soldiers who stay past a few years still don't have any, either because a) they are dumb or just don't care or b) they do care but don't find the time to do so since the military is hard as it is but the Army in particular is rough as hell because we have to show up early in the morning to waste around a hour and a half's worth of time doing worthless group PT called "PRT" plus an hour or so later we have to come back to duty for what we have to do that day, which given that this is the Army, very often involves slave labor in the motor pool instead of actually doing our jobs plus those of us not doing that are out in the field for weeks at a time. If you want to see people with college, then obviously you need to look at the airforce rather than the army.

@@heinymoto The AF has some jobs that do maintenance and support on planes but they also do a variety of stuff and quite a bit has to do with technology (and a lot more of their jobs translate better to the civilian world than our grunt combat jobs) which is why they get treated a lot better than we and the marines do. Definitely they have some jobs where they sit in chairs in air conditioning and do work on computers which is why we derisively call them the "chair force" And apparently, since they don't have to train to go out to the field like we (regardless of our MOS) do, a lot more of their people actually *DO* their jobs instead of serving as slave labor out in the motor pool like so many of us do. Even jobs that are in both branches (like say cook), things are generally better for them than it is for us because not only are we less likely to actually do our jobs while they are more likely to do theirs, but they also don't have to worry about the extra grief of having to do the field. There are going to be people out there that might see this as "boring" or "not real military" (I've actually heard of a few people in the AF themselves say they'd rather be out in the heat and mud like us than sitting down in a chair) but *you really need to stop and think for a second* before just scoffing at the "chair force" and just jumping into the Army instead. When you're out in the hot motorpool all day cleaning out the same storage sheds over and over and over again instead of actually doing your MOS and you're about to have heat stroke or heat exhaustion (and sometimes even in infantry gear, like heavy body armor, which the AF doesn't issue), yeah the AF with sitting down in an air conditioned office doing electronics or computers or air traffic control, etc. is going to sound really good. Or when you're out in the field (and you have to bring your infantry gear too and you better not have anything happen to any of it) and you're dealing with the heat/cold/ pouring rain and mosquitoes for several weeks and you can't bathe and wash your rear end for all that time, the chair force is going to sound really good then too. And there are *MANY* other silly things we have to do, for no extra benefits or pay, that they don't have to do. They are not completely perfect, because they are still the military, but *ARGUABLY* they have a whole lot more pros than we do, and we have a whole lot more cons than they do. And again, I'm not the only one in the Army who will tell you this.

@sfcdimsdale6659
@sfcdimsdale6659 5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the condition. If it is something that the Army deems will not be potentially harmful or fatal to you during service, they may let you stay in. If not, you will probably be discharged with a medical discharge which is not a negative discharge. Bottom line, its up to the Doctors to determine your eligibility to stay and JAG on what type of discharge you get.
