If God created us all then each and every person is dearly loved and precious to him. Every person, from the athiest to the pope. So why are we competing with each other to be holiest among us? Why aren't we just reaching out to others to help them realize the same truth, in whatever context makes sense to them? _ Salvation is a false teaching originated by Paul and propagated first by the Catholic church and then by most of the protestant denominations. _ The followers of Jesus in Jerusalem actually questioned Paul as to what Jesus he was teaching, because they did not recognize anything that Paul was preaching, and they were actually with Jesus. _ Paul never met Jesus and only claimed that he met Jesus in his dreams. This is a manufacture of mind, and the mind can never be trusted, it is the great deceiver.

While I admit there is a great deal of truth to Fr. Rohr's teachings, I struggle with the "non-dual" mind. I don't think the non-dual mind offers a sufficient explanation for the existence of evil, nor does it allow for the mind to grow/learn. How can the mind/human grow/learn from mistakes if it can't critique itself? Also, how can the human race deal with the evils of the world if we don't have a dualistic mind? For example, just because I have a non-dualistic mind, doesn't mean everyone else will. Murderers will still kill people. So how do we create a system that will prevent people from doing that without a dualistic mind? A non-dual thinker says, we can't judge, let only God judge. However, if we don't judge there is a high probability this individual will kill again. While I agree, that we need to tone down our dualistic minds and stop passing judgement in many ways in our lives, I don't think it's possible to abolish it. I'm not saying we need to perfectly define justice, but we need some sort of justice system to stop clear objectively true evils in the world. Once you say you need to define objective evil, you need a dual thinking mind to judge what is good, and what is evil. This is necessary to create a society in which heaven can be present on earth.
@FF-ub7bn6 жыл бұрын
The question is one of right use of the dual mind. For example one needs to be able to distinguish hot from cold. One does not need to make another person wrong and less than in order to be right. When the mind oversteps it's purpose and usurps the responsibilities of the heart, humankind runs into problems.
@cheapshot28426 жыл бұрын
@Winchestah dear Lord is that the King James Version's translation? Does it not make a distinction between natural disaster and evil? Most biblical translations have disaster where KJV says evil. As in God created the tornado and the effects of that creation can be felt by man. Evil is a whole different thing which is not created by God because an absence can not be created.

He is a nondualist, a Perennialist, and follower of non-christian Perennialist Ken WIlber and his integral spirituality. He does not follow or teach Christianity. I've been reading and listening to Rohr for several years and warning people about him. He believes, as does Wilber, that we are evolving toward a "higher" consciousness in which nonduality is the highest level. He says this on his blog. He also makes a distinction between Jesus and "The Christ." His Cosmic Christ is not Jesus Christ, the son of God. Beware!
@wladicus15 жыл бұрын
_ There is no such thing as a non-dual mind. _ The mind is dual by nature and thus the instigator of all human problems. _ Non-duality (advaita meaning not two) is the actual realization of the oneness of all. The mind categorizes, divides, qualifies and separates. _ This introduces problems in all dimensions of thought as concerns the human economy.

His teaching on compassion is Biblical, however he has departed from Scripture teaching that forgiveness of sins is not necessary. Alternative Franciscan Orthodoxy doctrine states that no atonement for sin is necessary. Without the blood atonement of Christ, there is no salvation. That is not Biblical, but is the popular antiChrist spirit of the age. True sheep, stay with the words of Christ in Scripture and beware the angel of light is most seductive. Blessings!

I think it is impossible to identify a person's total theology in one presentation. From hearing many talks by Richard, i believe he is highlighting the small cultural boxes we tend to place biblical concepts in. We read the gospels normally from the limited boundaries of our cultural understanding, and this run the risk of missing it's power. He wishes to point this out in hopes of opening one's heart to deeper meaning. After all, God is much bigger than we can capture with our words.

Something I don't understand here. RR is a Catholic who, as far as I know, has not been ex-communicated. So, is he espousing Catholic doctrine? Is this is what is now taught in Catholic Churches? I ask because it seems very far from my understanding of how the RC sees itself. (Of course my 'understanding' could be and probably is, very flawed - which is why I am asking the question.)
@gregbourn69153 жыл бұрын
I have spent a lot of time in Catholic monasteries. Many monasteries are in line with what Richard is teaching here. They may not use his name, but they are along the same line of thinking and practice. You seldom find this, however, in a Catholic Parish church. It just has not penetrated that deeply yet.I think it will in time. In fact, I think if it doesn’t, the church will collapse. People are hungry for an experience of God. If the Christian or Catholic church does not give them this experience, they will seek it out in other religions. In fact, they are already doing that in large numbers.
@tinuvielkofs2069 Жыл бұрын
I agree. I’m a catholic and a Franciscan. The mystical, nondual experience of God is there- hiding in plain sight. Priests do not preach it because they are mostly concerned with keeping parishioners in the rails, keeping the church buildings and little groups humming along without making waves. Even in our Franciscan fraternities, we’re mostly a Happy Death Francis Fan Club with ritual and tradition put above any true communion with God and neighbor. It’s very hard to dismantle the ego and if we don’t, then our organizations are egoic and self protective. It’s a challenge to participate once you’ve had a unitive experience. Pax et bonum🤎

As time continues, humanity develops a greater ability to understand and appreciate the past steps taken in building a foundation for a greater and greater grasp of knowledge and enlightenment. In our individual lives, we have the opportunity to increase our knowledge, understanding, and capacity to open our hearts and accept ourselves and others. It is an ongoing process and may include wonderful spiritual experiences.

Read Owen Barfield. It's much more than what impression one gets here. It's not like we made a mistake. It's actually a neccessary step towards final participation. Owen barfield says we lost some things, and gained others. We must now regain in a conscious manner what we lost, the particpatory, not by simply going backwards, but rather by understanding the developments, keeping the value. We have for example gained an actual ability to appreciate nature for her own sake, where consciousness before would be interrested in nature as a sort of mirror of oneself, and even earlier not really have the ability to distinguish anything and even be aware of individual existence. It's not a mistake that we hsve that now, but it's not the end of the story either.

If we put politics aside, I think that most average people didn't have much opinion about religious issues. What was important to them was how they got along with their friends and family and co-workers. They needed help overcoming pain and suffering, as well as managing their lives. Whether we have immortal souls or if there is a heaven, really doesn't mean much in those terms.

I don't want to be prideful in anyway , but my intuition tells me he might be off the path to heaven , hoping I'm wrong. 🌈

millar jeff do you really know Christ? We must ascend above the limited dogmas men have told you to believe. There is only One that should be believed above the men in the world and that is the Word which dwells in your soul, just above the material egomind of the head. Get rid of the belief of a mighty devil which rivals God. The adversary is the unrefined ego mind of man which is very wicked. Good luck! You will be amazed as you realize the truths hidden in plain sight everywhere, just keep ego in check.

Returned to this video after 4 months. Our very doubting and closed Catholic brothers and sisters, please stop loving in fear and realize that Christianity is evolving, just as our human understanding of the universe is evolving. We are no longer the center of our solar system, and the earth is not flat. Your faith formation is not being threatened by allowing it to mature. God is still love all the way through.

Unfortunately, he is not a mystic. Fooled himself and some of us.

“Binary thinking is bad…” but to even make such a judgement is binary thinking, isn’t it? Is Jesus not being binary when he separates the sheep from the goats? You cannot escape rationality unless you enter irrationality The problem is human sin, not rational thought itself

You probably need to define what you mean by rational thought. Thought, rational or otherwise, does not exist apart from human existence, so is inextricably bound up with sin.

I cross reference every one of them! Lol. Idk about other religions but, for me, the Christian/catholic church taught many falsified/edited (misinterpreted?) bible messages. It's disheartening but on my journey for truth, i now know that they added, and omitted too many vital beliefs in me. Be as Christ was. That's it. No dogmas! No division! •♡•

Why is he referring to John 1:9 as "light that IS coming to the world" 20:45, while Bible translations use past tense?
@MaggyWhitehouse6 жыл бұрын
Strong's, the Bible translation interpretation source makes it clear the word 'erchomi' is used in the present tense in John 1:9.

This is not Christianity; it's Perennialism and nondualism which is what Rohr supports and believes in. He teaches it using Christian references but it's not what Christians have confessed for 2,000 years.

_ Not exactly 2000 years. The first 300 years and maybe a bit more there were "real" Christians (who were actually Jews, as Jesus was). _ It was Paul who started his own brand of 'Christianity' which the brethren in Jerusalem questioned ( check it out, it is in the New Testament ). _ What people today call Christianity with the 'Trinity' doctrine, was never taught by Jesus. _ The bible has been 'doctored' so much that Jesus' actual teachings are difficult to discern by someone who would rather be told what to believe by the 'church'. _ They have put words in Jesus' mouth that have distorted his original teaching.

@@wladicus1 Check out the New Testament? Why don't you give a verse citation for your claim. The bible was doctored and nobody knows the real teachings of Jesus except you. Right...
