Disclaimer #2: I am not a Christian so don't take me upload this as some sort of endorsement of Christianity or any religion. The Enneagram is one of those useful analysis tools that exists and was locked away in a vault stolen from mankind in the same vein as the Vatican "can't find" all of Epicurus' writings. It's a valuable tool that allows for a good MATERIAL ANALYSIS and spiritual analysis of the human race and how it operates on a personality level. I encourage you to watch this series start to finish and reflect. I also encourage you to not take the Christian elements too seriously and employ rationality to it. Ultimately though I don't care what you do with this information. No you do not have the right to comment. I will delete if it suits me. No I don't give a damn who "found" or "discovered" the Enneagram first. I'm stripping it of religious connotations to make it more efficient. If you have any more significant questions on the Enneagram on a material, personal, or literature level my a friends and I are happy to start a conversation.

Type 8 (healthy): I don't think I seek to fight but I want a conversation where the person I am speaking to can give me something to think about. It's a fun challenge when someone gives me a good point of view that I have not considered or even thought about. I definitely agree that I only show my softest side to those who I feel safe with. I control situations but it's such a wonderful surprise when someone challenges me... But challenge me nicely if I don't love you because I will eat you alive. This was phenomenal. Thank you for posting. As a 7, I know to be healthy I really need to learn to say no to myself. Yet, I wouldn't characterize myself as loving orange and yellow, though I do like bright greens and blues and reds. I'm full of ideas, collect countless travel brochures, got excited about planning something and then when I attend the event, I can't be present because I'm all caught up in the plans for the next event. However, I wouldn't say I'm yippy skippy happy without emotional depth at all. Someone once described me as the Coffee shop in the amusement park. I want to travel to all the great places in the world, but I'd like to sit in that cafe in Paris and have a lengthy conversation that touches on deep things with someone without time limits. Perhaps that's my 8 wing balancing me out. I've learned so much from this seminar after following the enneagram closely for the last 2 years.

As I have done self work for the past 5 years as a 7 I have learned the greatest thing is my inner peace and slowing down my ideas to achieve goals- and be in the present moment. 7s can find inner acceptance of the dark side of self and others.Creating inner calm is possible. 7s always get a bad rap, maybe I’m bias, but I love inner work and the freedom that has come, and 7s you can do it- it isn’t too much, you can learn to sit with pain ❤️

Yes but notice the “truth” you’ve chosen to follow and act on. Just be present! My guess is you did not do the work thru a stubborn catholic ideology who practices starving the flesh. Or worked on putting up boundaries when people insult you. 7s love to embrace the present because its what you’re already good at. Not that you’re wrong, you’ve just chosen to follow a truth that fits well with your “type”. There are a lot of forms of self work. Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone about typing yourself. In this video Richard says that if you don't know your type at the end you are either a 6 or a 9. That wasn't the case for me. At first I typed as a 6. Later realized only bits of that described me. Then with suggestions of others I tried 4. That didn't work because I was too bitter and cynical towards others, so then I tried 8. I am a lot like an 8 cynical, bitter, defensive, but alas, I am not an 8. I am just a really unhealthy 2 that looks like an 8 on the outside but I have the core fear of a 2. I just couldn't admit it until I was put into a situation that shone a light on my 2ness. I cried for a long time after I found out I was a 2. I am pretty convinced. So just keep in mind you may mistype a few times so don't quickly attach onto one type as it may be a bodyguard for your real core type. For 2s when they are unhealthy or stress they basically become 8s. Each type has a type that they mimic when they are healthy and unhealthy. Please keep that in mind
@ThoughtProvokingVlogs4 жыл бұрын
It would seem I am a 6 afterall. Oops. Anyway, you have one main type and actually 2 other types making a tritype. There are debates on whether each type has a wing. I think they do and I have observed such. There is a theory that others when first meeting or talking with you will notice your second or third number before the first. There are rules to what numbers can go together. You can only have 2, 3, or 4. You can only have one of those. Then either 5,6,7. And lastly 8, 9, or 1. When healthy or unhealthy you act like both the integration and disintegration type. (Theory other mentioned, I have noticed this to be true though) There are instincts that change how the types act too. There are 3 and they are : Social, Sexual, and Self-preserving. You have two and you are blind in the other. 6s have two types within them phobic and counterphobic. Phobic is the type described in this lecture. Counterphobics act like 8s or 1s but are 6s. They get mad at authority figures and their support systems for "betraying" them. They often argue with authority figures and act tough. The standup comedian George Carlin was a counterphobic 6. Look into Dr. Tom LaHue here on KZbin for the things I described. Another resource: www.fitzel.ca/enneagram/index.html Book: Wisdom of the Enneagram There is an app called Personality Database where we vote on people's Enneagram and mbti type as well it is a social media to talk to others and discuss type. This stuff is extremely complex and it takes a long time to find your real type

Hello, I’m a 9w8 and I have trouble, like most 9s, staying present in my existence. Recently I got a job as an assistant teacher for toddlers and because they require so much of my presence, I have been able to connect to myself in ways that I have never thought I could. I have started to connect to my childhood trauma because I have allowed myself to connect to these children. It has also spiked my creativity, which I hadn’t exhibited in years. So if I had something to say to a fellow 9 is, try and find something that keeps you present and active in your life. This will help keep you connected to yourself and the people around you.

The most significant idea has to do with the unified perception of just how all things evolve (including me); mostly consciousness in time emerging. This 'idea' compliments my intuitive, subjective knowing - always present I tend to place on the right side - that has a quality of a calling of sorts; maybe mostly pursued as a result of running into or towards challenges, and the need to reduce and make sense out of the chaos life presents - the world's and my own internal stuff. God 'gene' perhaps?

I am a 9w8 so I can definitely see many of my own character flaws. I am passive-aggressive, unfocused, and it takes a lot to insert myself into social situations and actively participate. I am not someone who others look at as lazy in the physical sense, but I am definitely lazy in the sense that I am not that "Go-getter" type. If I get too much on the plate, I shut down. I strive to be better at that but it is an internal struggle daily. I fall to the 8 wing because I feel like I am more outgoing than most 9's. I enjoy social settings, and I also am the one who is much quicker to stand up for those I care about way more than I ever will be for myself. I will fight dirty for what and who I believe in. That is where my stubbornness comes in strong. I was one who took many tests and scored different numbers at different times, mainly I fell at a 4, 5 (intellect is a high priority for me also), and 7 and 2, so when I was taught how 9's can take or mimic any of the other numbers, I knew that is what I was. He didn’t take that approach for any of the other numbers - essentially “What are we to do about the 9s?…” Are 9s incapable of finding their own way to salvation? There is an eneagram theory about the mental fixation of the 9: he's forgetting himself most of the time. He rather forget himself than feel the difficulty of leaving his sofa. In his way of perceiving the world, its really logic to behave like this. The 9, because he's forgetting himself, has a difficulty to live love. He thinks love is acceptation, but true love is more than that. So because he does not have a real access to experienced love, he does not want to leave the sofa. Sorry if im a bit assertive, but i want to be quick and effective (so of course there is are lack of information). My father and my best friend are 9, so I know its very difficult to live that way, even if the 9 does not realise how difficult it is to live in a 9 way.

I agree. I feel like he only talks about 9s at their worst. Like they are inept. But I think when 9s are aware they can overcome their inclinations like any other type. As a 9 I understand a lot of what he says, but I think he underplays the 9s ability assert themselves when they want to and when they are healthy. I’m a 9w1 but I think 9w8s can especially assert themselves. And also as a 9 I deal with a lot of anger. It’s not that I refuse to have or feel emotions, but I refuse to put them on other people. It’s not “embarrassingly simple.” Again, I feel that he does not consider the wings enough. 9s have a lot of inner conflict.

He made some very wide swaths and assumptions on every one of the numbers and spoke from a negative slant or even a "base" (unhealthy?) level for each IMHO. I had to look in the comments, because I felt the same way lol. I'm pretty sure it's, because he's a 1. I'm married to a 1 and I don't think they understand us lol. I think the "procrastination" is because we take everyone else and thing into account BEFORE we speak or act. Personally I think I'm a perfectionist and don't want to start a project, until I have thought about every detail and aspect of it and made a detailed plan in my head. I like to make lists, so I don't forget any details. Do any other 9's do that?
@juliedelkamiller83755 жыл бұрын
At one point, maybe the first video, he does make a comment that he spends more time on the negative qualities of each number because those are the elements needing transformation. If we feel attacked or defensive, then it's a good clue that is our number. (I'm a 2 and a different presenter told any 2's in the room to go get some tissues-- we'd especially need them. I'm married to a 9 and when he realized that he had been practically sleepwalking through much of his life, he began owning so many things that he had previously suppressed. It's enlightening and yet propels us to deeper interior work.)

I feel a bit attacked as a 7 in all media I see about 7s. What is wrong with seeing beauty in the world? And loving it! We feel deeply. Think deeply. See deeply. Hear deeply. Even if we don't live deeply naturally. Working gives us purpose. We're beautiful. And it makes me sad to be demonized for child-like faith. We're great teachers of life. We're youthful. The Butterfly really does describe us. The chrysalis is the hardest part of it journey. I'm in it now. I'm a monkey in the Chinese zodiac so I def understand that one. I am serious, when i need to be. Def hard to say "no." But my body is hard to love best. I think the challenge is being underwhelmed and knowing that it can be more beautiful and that we can help make it so. I appreciate Richard Rohr teaching about this from a contemplative Christian perspective and the most above this is me agreeing with many of his comments. I just wish there was more balance in the commentary about 7s and support/strategies for 7s to live healthfully on the Internet overall. It's hard to not be tragic if that's all you hear about your natural way of being everywhere you look. The butterfly metaphor stands though. Apparently for us more than others, our true purpose is revealed through dark times and spaces and totally😂 transformation from one firm to another.

Just accept that void as it is (and it is void, but thats normal and its not that scary, I assure you), and then it will be easier to fill it for real (not mentally).
