Well made and quite interesting! I must say that the before/after made me feel like watching a spell level 1 versus the same spell fully upgraded at the end of the game. It's an interesting thought to imagine the VFX evolve and becoming more lavish when leveled up. Anyway thank you for the video!

Great video!! Another trick for helping VFX look like they are more grounded/actually in the environment and glowing/emitting light is to add a large and very soft subtle glow particle over everything. In addition to the actual light it just adds a bit of "haze" as though its also lighting up the dust/atmosphere/whatever would be in the air around it - it works extra nicely on larger vfx too

8:35 Down in this context means toward the center of the planet, so if your game involves running and jumping from one mini planet to another, the VFX should be attracted toward the nearest planet. If the game is a side scroller where you have the power to flip gravity, all the VFX should be affected too.
