He is in check. If he moves the king to f1, then nepo plays Nh2 check and then picks the queen. If the king goes to g2 or h1, then nepo takes the rook with the knight and is also a discovered check, and therefore, he afterwards takes also the queen. Therefore the best move for hans is just to take the knight with the queen.
