Glad this series is back, I missed my weekly box office break down.

Wonder if things might've been different had Blomkamp had gotten to make that Halo movie - probably wouldn't have gotten District 9 though

I saw Equalizer 3 and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. It was a big step up from the second film and was as good as the first movie. It also proves Denzel is awesome in any role he's in. While having problems with some pacing and some of the sound mixing(the music at points is too loud where it's hard to hear the dialogue in some scenes), I found the story to be refreshingly simple. It's a classic western in modern day and also had a really good ending, wrapping up the franchise in a neat way. It's why I am hoping there are no more Equalizer movies with Denzel. Prequels, maybe, but still end it on a high note.

Denzel is indeed one of the most consistent actors. Can't remember a really bad movie he played in. Somebody?

Man, I was waaaaaaayyyyyyy too nice to Blue Beetle when I made my predictions. I thought it could make 200 Million... I mean I thought that was the ceiling, but still.

Pat, I think you meant to say Lil Mermaid in the red, not the black. Red means unprofitable, black means profitable.

Wow, China gave a big pop to Oppenheimer.

Which box office performance do you think is more impressive, Barbie's or Oppenheimer's?
@dunnowy123 Жыл бұрын
Both are really impressive in their own ways. But, I think as the months and years go by, Barbie will be seen as undoubtedly more impressive given it's the highest grossing film of the year both domestically and worldwide. You don't need as much context to understand WHY it's impressive, whereas with Oppenheimer, you kind of do. Not saying it isn't impressive that an R rated, 3 hour long, talky historical period drama has grossed over $300 million domestically and over $850 million worldwide, but Barbie is #1.

If Oppenheimer somehow makes 1 billion then I'm giving it the title.

Denzel is a huge draw. He is money. 💰

Denzel Washington is really popular with Americans in general, but REALLY popular with black Americans. I'd be interested in seeing the demographic breakdown, and wouldn't be surprised if black people made up a really big proportion of the audience. Also, I'm kind of glad we've FINALLY seen a backlash to the endless remakes, reboots, sequels, requels and so on. Sequels that seemed to have a point to exist (GOTG, Spider-verse) did well, films with auteur directors and original storylines did well (Barbie, Oppenheimer) and we had some nice little unexpected surprises (Talk to Me, Sound of Freedom). While the industry might be crying, I for one see this summer as a good step in the right direction for American cinema.

Indiana Jones is such a massive failure. Like holy shit what a flop.
