The Esse Ironheart - Extended Woodbox and Burn Times

Obadiah's Woody Chain shows you the difference it makes having the extended woodbox on the Esse Ironheart, from the amount of wood you can fit in to the length of the burn time. Because the Ironheart was designed to burn coal and wood, it ships with heavy cast iron grates in the bottom of the firebox. This is great for coal, but not for wood. For wood, you want hot coals to be in a bed of ash so they hold their heat longer and don't burn as quickly.
For this, we at Obadiah's offer the ability to swap out the grates and replace them with the optional Extended Firebox. This unit will allow you to get more wood in the firebox, for longer burn times. To see how well it works, watch as Woody gets a remarkable 14 hour burn time!

I've recently bought an Ironheart and my experience is very different. I don't find the top and bottom controls to have such an obvious effect on the burn and I've found it impossible to get it to burn overnight. I'd be happy to get even 8 hours - at the moment I'm getting less than five. Any advice would be welcome!
