The Essence "The Cat" "A Mirage"(A Tope 24/02/1988)

Actuación del grupo "The Essence", en "A Tope". Banda holandesa que posiblemente muy pocos recuerden pero que tuvo cierta repercusión en los circuitos alternativos, especialmente en las discotecas valencianas. Su lider, Hans Diender, sería entrevistado, brevemente, por Eva Mosquera. Esta formación, que sonaba totalmente a "The Cure", interpretarían los temas:
-The Cat; single de su primer álbum "Purity"(1985)
-A Mirage; sencillo de su 2º trabajo, "A monument of Trust"(1987).

Pretty cool, I bought A Monument of Trust in 1987 because of a review on Spin Magazine which stated The Essence was The Cure under a different name. It wasn't true but for it I became a fan of The Essence. I own all their releases now. ...I think die hard The Cure fans would love The Essence. I did. Enjoy life. Bye.

@@thejimmy6533 Of course it's wasn't but with music information not readily available in the eighties allowed the idea to flourish for a while. Consider in the early 80's XTC member's adopted pseudonyms and released music as The Dukes of Stratosphear. Why not the Cure pulling the same stunt?

Gran banda *The Essence* Pueden recordar a *The Cure* , sobre todo en el tono de voz de Hans Diener, que suena muy parecido al de Robert Smith, pero si te escuchas todos los temas de sus álbumes te darás cuenta de que son estilos y sonidos diferentes. Por cierto, el teclado/sintetizador que utilizan en este video es un Korg DW-8000. Yo lo tuve hasta hace un par de años que lo vendí (y como me arrepiento...)
