As someone that played a Shaman/Druid in EQ in 1999 and went to EQ2 when it released; it will always and forever be pronounced as SEW. :) Such a beautiful trip down memory lane.

Brought back good memories of discussing how to pronounce "Qeynos" in EverQuest chat, back in the early 2000's. ("SoW", as well!) ❤ Then there's names like, "Fippy", "Chief Goonda", and "Boomba", that are just... well. ❤ Classic discussion. 😉

This was a lot of fun, thanks everyone 😄. Oh, and Fading, I was on the same page with you on the pronunciations. I have to admit though - after all these years, it never once occurred to me that most of the names for the gods were anagrams. I guess this old game still has some surprises for me LOL !

I am soaking in all the nostalgia but I logged back in early last year and it just felt sad and melancholy with a capped flist and 0 people on but me - a 54 yr old woman who played EQ then went to EQ2 until Age of Discovery when I left like pretty much everyone on my server! LOL You could think about covering people like my buddy Ixnay who created EQFlames and with Sheisty's help, they moved the community at one point and had many of the Dev's ears. Plus all the crazy things that went on in the forums with devs, wars with Cracatoa and so many other things. So many more voices were in the EQ/2 community at one point and it is sad so much was lost over the years but it is great to see you covering it again! BTW, at one point there were several small personal sites people had posted EQ help and walkthroughs on, before Geocities took them all down. Man, so many good times calling people at 3am to World First something and then pulling over and over until you got it! Fabulous times I miss!

The easy way for me to remember the right way to say "Qeynos" is the fact that the original creators got it from spelling "Sony EQ" backwards, so the "e" is long and the "q" is hard like a "k": Kee-nose" The pronunciation hill I will die on is how to say "Innoruuk". I've heard npcs in game say "In-or-ruk", but I say EEN-OR-RUKE.

I wish I remembered which one - but at a Fan Faire in Vegas, a developer discussing Luclin, not only said "Luck-lin" but then said, "And yes, that is how it is pronounced. I named it." So.....I suppose if anyone knows who named it, that's who told us. I'm also curious..... those who pronounce it "Fi-rona" ......why do lose the second "i"? It's in the spelling, "Firiona"...
