I just came across this video. I’m not an EQ fan (never played), but my dad is the founder of Courtly Noyse, and he said it was a good gig & enjoyed hearing people react to them playing the EQ theme.

Lovely to see. I haven't played in years but still watch every episode of your show. Seeing those Keith Parkinson paintings in the flesh must have been surreal. Thanks for making this for us.

Looks like Fippy Fest was a hit! Would love to see a large fan faire happen again someday. That's also great news to hear about the populations of the new servers, sounds like an EQ renaissance is happening, and just in time for EQ3!

Yes, it feels like a fever dream! EQ is running efficiently and remains very popular. EQ2 is enjoying it's newfound Origins popularity. New content is continuing and is enjoyed by live players. EQOA is working towards a revival. And EQ3 is in the "ideation phase." It is a wonderful time for the franchise.

First of all, congrats @Fading, you absolutely nailed it and your moderation made it a joy to watch online. Some folks would be nervous standing in front of so many ppl, but to you it's just so natural and one can really tell that you're absolutely in your "element" when watching you speak about all things EQ in front of everyone. Just a few of the things that made me really happy: 1. The new EQ2 expac seems to be focused on something from the sea / water, and that's right up my alley! Giant enemy crabs, turtle ppl and more? I'm in! I've been wanting a water based zone / expac for some time now and chances are looking good that the element of water might be a major contributing factor this time around. 2. EQ2 64-bit and DirectX1 visual enhancements / refurbishments are coming! When I saw the devs smile, after being asked about DX11, I immediately understood they were going to say something interesting. It makes absolute sense for them to clear the pipeline only to then revitalize this old gal of a game world. Awesome, this part of the event was like music to my ears. I can only hope they do this for the content that is older than ten years old though, because I would love to see a refurbished and enhanced version of Gfay with more modern effects and upgrades on all fronts (spoke about this in the forums). 3. I watched the studio tour via Antizark's recording here on KZbin, and I've already commented about this in the forums, so this is just a copy and paste of that comment: "I like how Jenn was able to guide everyone through their offices so calmly and how she had something to tell and say about all of the paintings on the wall. Well done! Something that immediately caught my attention was how SWG and Vanguard: SoH and DCUO were all over the place too. I knew Everquest 1/2 was going to be everywhere, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the other games sit next to the beloved EQ franchise. Vanguard is shown via a beautiful oil painting that actually rivals the EQ oil paintings. Seeing that beautiful SWG retail box on their wall was a nice addition too. All of this makes me feel like they still think about these games, even the ones that were sunset long ago, and that they hold them close to their hearts with respect and fond memories. I could be wrong, maybe it's something completely else, but what I saw in Antizark's video makes me feel that way. SWG and Vanguard were and still are part of the family, and they still share some of that very same dna and attention to detail that the other games in the list have." 4. Even though masses are nice, I actually like how the Everquest franchise (and these events) are becoming smaller and more of a special VIP thing. While I enjoy eating Mc Donalds food sometimes, I most certainly prefer high quality food from a good five star restaurant. Everquest is a premium world and a premium experience for a mature audience, and I like it that way. 5. Last but not least, the fact that both games - EQ1 AND EQ2 - are getting some well deserved love after all these years is a true testament to the strong roots both games actually have. Oldies but goldies after all. I was happy to see some familiar faces from the dev team during this event, such as ttobey and more. Seems like yesterday when these games first launched, and as you rightfully pointed out during the event, ppl from both sides (devs and players) have been part of this journey for decades now. That alone speaks volumes and is a true testament to what these games mean for a lot of ppl. Origins server is a step in the right direction and I hope to see more of this in the future. Cheers!

How wonderfully said! Thank you for this well thought out comment. It was a wonderful event and the devs truly do love these games, just like us players!

That new dragon is so cool looking! They keep upping the in-game art quality despite the age of the game(s). I love that weird bug/squid/walrus thing. But beyond all of that, seeing the delight of the attendees filled my heart. It's gratifying to see the continued love of both EQ and EQII. That the devs are just as deeply invested is the absolute best! So many beloved franchises have been turned over to people who not only don't care about the games/movies/TV series, but they also actively loathe the franchises and the original creators. It's obvious EQ and EQII are in good hands.

Lovely for the rich, but rather exclusionary to the majority even with the ability to watch it online. *EDIT* That sounds harsher than it's meant - but I want Norrath to be out there for the masses. Here's hoping, as the team seem to be going about it the right way.

Still dont understand how people get immersed in wow. I have tried to like wow many times its just boring. EQ and EQ2 have always been way better in my opinion.
@jumbowizard91544 ай бұрын
I like wow, but I also like the mythic + dungeons that are timed. And I have friends that play it. I love eq2 but they desperately need the level squish wow has been doing. It’s got to the point there’s stats on gear that show but don’t exist and it’s just become a mess. Like every mmo, having friends is what makes it worth spending so much time on

Hahaha! I'm not a fan of IPAs either! I did have a glass of what they had on tap (I dare NOT open my commemorative can!) but it wasn't my favorite beer... However, that's because I don't like IPAs. From those that I asked who DO like IPAs, they said it was quite nice.

Honestly it was very light and tart for an IPA. Not my absolute favorite either, but not bad at all 😊
