Seeing people continuing to work with a brand that blatantly screwed me over - then promised to leave me on PR and then almost immediately after saying that took me off, rubs me the wrong way. What annoys me the most is that part of Anastasia's story is that she lived in and fled Romania when it was under communist rule, her husband was seeking asylum in the US, she and Norvina followed him which later down the road helped Anastasia to be an entrepreneur. My parents are from Romania and experienced what it was like, granted they were born 10ish years before the revolution. Anastasia was there right at the beginning of when that all started. She should know the best how many Ukrainians feel and what they are going through but here she is laughing about pro-putin content. I am done spending my money on ABH's products.

And she does it right as if you were this much worried when Syria or Artsakh were destroyed and depopulated within the last 5-6 years. Each comment on those war crimes were commented as "toxic" or "racistic" against turkey or azerbaijan. Now when politics and paid media spread anti-russian propaganda, all became empathetic suddenly. Empathy cannot be selective. You either are or not. Your previous silence lets me assume that this selective empathy is fake, especially to a country that sold phosphorous weapons to azerbaijan to use against Artsakh people and soldiers.

Right wing authoritarians are the most fervent anti-communists out there, and sadly a lot of people who’ve escaped communism fall for their spiel, and go on their way to support authoritarian wannabes like Trump or outright fascists like Putin. Not gonna lie, I think Norvina is exaggerating how her mother ONLY was in charge of brows and that she was the creative genius behind everything. I don’t doubt that she was involved in the company or that she focused on Instagram, but seeing how unprofessional and obnoxious she is I highly doubt the brand would’ve continued building its reputable status if she was as in charge as she claims. I mean even when ABH was close to its peak during when the subculture palette came out she was super shady implying influencers simply didn’t know how to apply makeup or were digging their brushes into the palette, that’s about a year after she took over I think so I really doubt she was making so many decisions earlier than that since right out the gate she was being a brat and only was able to coast on the success and reputation of the brand that her mother had built up plus so many other scandals and dramas occurring around the same time.

I did not enjoy the ranting at end of the video. You are making a lot of assumptions. @@rachelthomasrusso When you say “unfunded” you mean “unfounded,” correct? Those are not considered allegations, those are observations of her social media account highlighting the individuals Anastasia follows. And she hasn’t unfollowed these individuals since this observation was addressed publicly so the “allegations” are actually true. As was mentioned in the video, when a brand owner/creator includes their name in the brand name you can’t dissociate the brand from the person, they are marketed together. The behavior of the company, the reviews left by former and current employees on Glassdoor are enough for me to not support this brand going forward. I learned to contour and highlight way before it was mainstream because I worked in a drag bar in the 1980s! (Most of my makeup skills were taught to me by some of the most beautiful queens! (Angel and Rachel L’Amour you taught me well!!!) At the time, we used cool toned eyeshadows to contour and shimmer shades or light opaque mattes to highlight. I also learned how eyebrow shaping could change your eye shape and even your face shape from drag makeup! When I first heard of Anastasia and her brow technique from Vogue magazine , I was immediately intrigued! I bought one of her brow kits the minute they launched at Nordstrom and never looked back! Then when she launched her contour kit, I was in Heaven! It was so much better than using eyeshadow which could be hit or miss depending on the quality of the shadows. My first eyeshadow palette from them was the Makeup by Mario collab. It has been pretty cool to have been able to watch the invention of the internet and how it advanced so much just in my lifetime! (I am 57 years old). I love these evolution of series!!!!! Edit: I had no idea about Anastasia’s ideology, I haven’t been into makeup for a minute and didn’t keep up on the brand. Definitely not supporting after hearing this!

I have ya beat (maybe). I ordered 2 KVD Good Apple Concealers to review and in the video, I talked about how I opened my package up and it was...EMPTY. No joke-no product was inside. I was pissed at first but honestly I kept thinking about someone just being like, "nah, this person doesn't really want the products they paid for," and sent the empty envelope on its way... I laughed pretty hard 🤣

I’m only like 9 minutes into the video, and I know that Anastasia is not a good person & I am interested to see the rest of what you have to say. But damn, as an esthetician who specializes in eyebrows this is actually wild to hear. I genuinely didn’t know that she was one of the first people in the industry to talk about brows in that way & create a whole new style. Just thinking about the fact that I do brows every day & a lot of the techniques & tools could’ve been originated/popularized by her is crazy since I’ve never thought of that. Wish she was a better person cause then it’d be even cooler lmao

I think this started in 2018, but at that point the only way I’d buy an ABH palette was if it went on sale, which at that point any “limited edition” palette would. After learning what you mentioned, I won’t be touching the brand. Not that I have in the last 2.5 years, but this reaches a new level of confirmation. It’s funny how the brands I idolized in 2016 being tarte, urban decay, too faced, and ABH I completely stopped buying from. I do actually still use some of my old tarte and UD palettes, but at this point I only buy colourpop. God i hope they don’t do anything controversial because they are the only one I still give money to😭. But thank you for this video. It actually inspired me to see who i follow follows MTG and I’m both shocked, not surprised, and lost respect for an old roommate’s who’s respect was already unbelievably low. Anyways, thank you

I bought it semi-recently after another KZbinr used it in a video saying she loved it. I was so stoked to score it at TJ Maxx shortly after. It is one of the worst palettes I’ve ever bought and the only redeeming quality is that I didn’t pay full price. It looked amazing on the KZbinr, she just so happens to have an art degree, fwiw.

I think my first encounter with ABH was this TV segment in mid 2000s of a wannabe starlet going to her salon hoping that the eyebrows would give her an edge. I don’t remember the starlet’s name or face, but I remember that there’s a salon in Beverly Hills that does only eyebrows.

I got the Modern Renaissance palette about 2 years after the hype. I loved the formula, but I didn’t love the color story. Warm browns are just not my thing, but I love cool tones! When Subculture came out, I rushed to buy it! It was very difficult for me to use, but I made it work for about 4 years. I love that color story! A decluttered it and finally re-created the color story using Makeup Geek singles…literally finished it 3 weeks before they announced their closure 😳 The original Norvina was not as purple as I wanted; I felt bamboozled after I purchased it. The Jackie Aina is amazing! I also snagged the Sultry palette during a Christmas restock. Bone I’m done. Done with their crap; I don’t even purchase their browwiz anymore. Bye girl! Haha ✌🏻

@@l.l274 true. Also nobody is looking at the big picture. Ukraine killed over 15,000 of their own people who were against their nazi military. Far more than the ones who died in the current attack. Russia was backed into a corner by the US and Ukraine. So trump was saying it was a smart move in war. Ukraine with the help of the US were scheming their own attacks. Ukraine was working on and holding Biden’s nukes and bombs. Unfortunately in war, it’s kill or be killed. Ukraine was refusing to work with Russia. Putin was also anti nazi military…which in 2022, is that a bad thing?🤔 The Ukraine military are literal nazis and we’re hailing them as victims and heroes?! Of course obviously nobody wins in war! No civilians ever need to die! So trump wasn’t saying “ yay death of people is awesome!” He was saying you have to protect your lands from nazis trying to take over. In the 1930s and forties people absolutely understood that, but in 2022 people just can’t seem to get it. It absolutely blows my mind!

I remember when I was working at Macy's in 2006 Nordstrom made such a big deal out of the ABH brow products that I actually went over there on my break to check it out. They were lauding this brand as being so insanely wonderful and I was so unimpressed lol. But it was before anyone, even Benefit, really had any brow products. Benefit afterwards started doing brow products but before that they were really known for just their skin and eyeshadow products. Edit: I remember RawBeautyKristi struggled really hard to make Subculture work. She tried so hard to make it work including following what ABH said in order to use the palette.
