2004. You can see modern day Bill Burr creeping in, the movement, the speech.

Totally what I thought! His delivery became more paced and controlled, like the psycho we know him to be.
@bunnyblurrz6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think he got more confident and relaxed. I think by that time he knew who he was as a comic. A psycho.
@randman216 жыл бұрын
And guys you know what? What does he always say, that he slept on a futon til he was 37? That's later on, like 2005. So he found his confidence first and then magically success started finding him. Fellow performers, take note.

I guess this shows he always had talent and that over time he learned his craft, finely tuned it and refined it and took those bits that were ok and made them awesome. He's a quick thinker, a natural wordsmith, a great observer of life and a man who doesn't suffer fools. Bill is the real deal and he always makes me laugh. I'm so thankful he is who he is and that he does what he does. Bill is an exceptionally and naturally funny human.

Louis CK's material seems more scripted and then he laughs at his own jokes. Takes the fun out of it for me. I understand all comedians script their jokes but Bill's flows more naturally - like he's just another joe telling me a funny story.

Basically he didnt evolved, he was always funny as shit. keep it coming Bill we love you
@Vaporvice846 жыл бұрын
I love how in conversation (usually on podcasts) Bill always talks about how when he was younger he used to be in incredible shape, used to load and unload trucks at work all day, play pick up 'hoop' during lunch, then go lift for 2 hours after work, then do a bike ride. The clothes he wore back in the 90's were all about 3 sizes too big, including the shoes lol. I swear, if the 80's was the 'tight' era of clothes fashion, the 90's was definitely the 'loose' era, lol.
@hotlegshoolihan17794 жыл бұрын
Where I think his act evolved most over the years is he went from a lot of outward observational comedy to more inward and also his impressions of the people he talks about have gotten a lot better. He started out good and became great.

@PlanetYTP6 жыл бұрын
True... but let's not forget Peter Russells!
@acipshah6 жыл бұрын
PlanetYTP [ KZbin Comedy ] HAHAHAHAHAHA! Russell's intellect is NOWHERE near Bill's
@PlanetYTP6 жыл бұрын
+Afif Shah I'm not really concerned with their so-called "intellect". The main criteria I use to judge a comedian is whether or not they can consistently make me laugh. Your attempts to firstly gauge their intellect from the modicum of resources, as well as your attempts at judging their comedy based on that premise is quite frankly laughable.
@acipshah6 жыл бұрын
If Russel can "consistently" make you laugh then I shouldn't be bothered having this debate with you. It's a lost cause. So long.
@PlanetYTP6 жыл бұрын
Didn't realise this was a debate, mate. And yes... you're preaching to the choir. From what I gather, you appreciate "smart" comedy, and I can understand and relate to that. But oftentimes it's the stupid relatable things in life that make you laugh - at least, in my experience (which is the bulk of Russell's anecdotal comedy routines). One mustn't condemn other's tastes in comedy, but rather keep an open mind and appreciate the vast palette of comedy that exists (everyone has different tastes, of course). Also, trying to judge my level of intellect based on my humour? Not sure if that's what you're implying with that final statement, but it's quite a senseless thing to do. If I'm wrong, I do apologise. Good day.

Bill's a comedy great...up there with Hicks, Kinison, Louis CK, Stanhope, et al. His jokes aren't limited to any topic and he's always upfront about his lack of research or knowledge on a subject. Bottom line...you can joke about anything. If you find it offensive turn off or leave. We all have choices.
@nodirbekable7 жыл бұрын
I liked even his latest special. It wasn't as hilarious, he tried new things, but in no way was it terrible. If that's his worst, it's still enjoyable. Still funny.
@AlmostaFlipinSkater2 жыл бұрын
Judging by the date, you're referring to Walk Your Way Out. I agree it was his weakest. It could be the jokes and delivery, but it might instead be the audience. They weren't on the same wavelength as Bill which made for audible groans and silence contrasted with Bill's yelling. They didn't give Bill much to work with. The issue with Burr is that if the audience doesn't respond, Bill can come off as just an old guy yelling statements rather than yelling jokes (not even in the George Carlin sense) and that can reduce the enjoyment of his set.... Or maybe it's also Bill. He also yelled like in a podcast for Paper Tiger unlike his specials before Walk Your Way Out. I found Paper Tiger to be his 2nd weakest behind Walk Your Way Out.

god forbid at the age of 50 he settles down and becomes happier than ever, just to satisfy your need for him to stay the same. Who the fuck stays the same after having a wife and a kid at 50? Maybe if he had done when he was younger he would be more used to it and could bounce back in time.
