I will never gather why Disney didn't keep the Jetix branding, given how much of Toon Disney it had swallowed up by the end. FIRST off: your hair is giving Draculaura and i'm LIVING for it; second of all I remember Jetix, and recall the retooling to Disney XD. We were slightly late to getting cable proper and being a little child then I saw the tail-end of the Jetix era. Then again, I suppose I've been able to catch the tail-end of a lot of eras like the previous millenium and JUST barely now existing within the American Girl Doll Historical timeline. So I guess I don't get to suffer the whiplash of becoming historical like my mom did when the character Julie was released. You know what DOES give me whiplash is your intro with Locked Out Of Heaven playing in the background because I was in 8th grade and went to larp camp for the first time then.

I always seemed to watch the secondary channels way more than the main channels when I was younger. Like, I barely watched Disney Channel, mostly just Disney XD. Same when it comes to Nickelodeon and Nicktoons. Anyway, I was born 2005, so I wasn't around to see Toon Disney. I was basically just watching preschool channels during the time it was around when I was alive. But Disney XD is one of the most nostalgic channels for me, particularly in the early 2010s. I remember being obsessed with shows like Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, Kick Buttowski, and Randy Cunningham. My dad's a big Marvel geek, so all the channel's Marvel content gave us another thing to bond over. It's where he introduced me to Spider Man and His Amazing Friends, one of his favorite childhood cartoons, and we'd also watch new episodes of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes whenever they came out.

Technically yes, and technically no. From Season 1 (MMPR 1) - Season 6 (PR In Space), the cast is moved directly from one season to the next. Afterwards, there would usually be a team up with the prior cast. But to save on cost and to make it more bearable, they would completely change the cast, suits, and team theming. And for the most part, the story remains sequential, save for Season 13 - SPD (taking place in 2025, instead of 2005 when it was released), Season 17 - RPM (taking place in continuity separate from the rest), Seasons 21 and 22 - Dino Charge (Also taking place in a separate continuity due to time travel shenanigans). Power Rangers is weird.

I was legit remember watching Jetix when it came to a permanent end and just saw the logo go to sleep for good, I was in actual denial. The next day came and the channel was just gone, taking some time to be replaced by Disney XD, I was legitmately tweaking over where my favorite channel went for days that my family had to eventually call DirecTV and ask where the channel went. I was super upset to hear confirmation that the channel was actually gone for good and when Disney XD came around, I actually refused to watch the channel for quite a while until around the time after Pair of Kings started airing. I ALWAYS get excited to talk about Jetix in any capacity whenever I see the chance.

I believe my first time watching Disney XD was when they briefly acquired Sonic Underground (yes, they actually had that show). It wasn't until late 2015, when I started watching Gravity Falls, that I began watching the channel more frequently. I tuned in to Disney XD mainly to watch GF, as well as reruns of Disney's then-current animation lineup. My family finally got rid of cable in the spring of 2022, and by that time, the channel had acquired some Nat Geo programs and produced a couple of original shows (which also took online clips and put them on TV, from my understanding). Nowadays, the channel's just mostly reruns, with Beyblade being their sole anime. I enjoyed this essay and thought you did it justice, Lula.

Currently Disney XD is just showing reruns of stuff that currently exists on Disney channel. There’s a small anime block on Sat/Sun early mornings and on the rare occasion they’ll air a mini marathon of older cancelled shows like Star Vs, Wander Over Yonder, Duck Tales (2017), etc. in the dead air hours. I remember one of the reasons Jetix fans were upset about the transition to XD was that you could tell that they didn’t have anything really ready to fill up the schedule when it first went live and the things that they could have used to pad schedule that fit the esthetic they were going for was ignored in the favor of Disney channel comedy reruns. It got to the point where people would always air quote “for Boys” when ever promotional stuff was brought up. Even more so when the ratings showed more girls were watching the channel than they had intended. 😂 Never saw Sky Runner but I remember the marketing for it. It always felt like it was meant to air back before the transition but somehow got delayed till afterwards.

OMG, you unlocked so many memories!! I remember watching Jetix a lot as a kid (I can remember very clearly it was between Nick and Cartoon Network on my cable package), and since it was a standalone channel it had an even wider programming, I remember watching shows like WITCH, all the Digimon shows (Especially Frontier), Sonic X, TMNT 2003, Ying Yang Yo, Pucca, Dave the Barbarian, Galactic Football, Code Lyoko, and oddly enough, the Fairly Oddparents (TLDR Nelvana sold the airing rights to Fox Kids in Latin América and Disney kept the rights to air New episodes until around 2006 where they agreed a split with Nickelodeon to only air up to the first half of s5 in Jetix, and kept airing reruns all the way into the early years of Disney XD), in fact the final 2 years of jetix their programa programming was kinda oversaturated with just FOP and Pucca before the whole DXD rebrand. Also early Disney XD was GOATed too. Awesome video as always!

I remember watching Naruto Shippuden on Disney XD. At the time i was banned from watching any anime so seeing family-friendly Disney airing something like that, even briefly, was wild to me.

Interesting to see the evolution of the channel and how it impacted the stuff that I watched as a kid. Where I live (Romania), aside from Cartoon Network, the GOATs of cartoons were Fox Kids and Jetix. Never knew Disney was behind it until a decade after. I don't know much about Jetix Play as I didn't have the channel on my TV. In my country there was no Disney XD, the transition was made from Jetix to Disney Channel in 2009 (we didn't have Disney Channel at all at that time), first by having I think a 2-hour segment with the heavy hitters (Hannah Monata, Zac and Cody, HSM movies) which then completely engulfed the channel, becoming Disney Channel (this was similar to how Jetix took over Fox Kids in 2005). Most cartoons and sitcoms from both the main and XD channels were mashed together, but I could tell something was different with the shows from Disney XD (especially since the first shows didn't have a laugh track, but I think it made them even better, loved Zeke and Luther). We never got those special blocks of content so it just aired random episodes all the time lol, with a movie here and there.

Jetix is my childhood, I mainly watch power rangers because I'm a huge fan, before the shout factor DVDs/Netflix/KZbin the only way to watch the older Saban seasons was to watch re-runs, I did watch other show's too by the way

Disney XD was where they put some of their best shows iykyk. Motorcity, Tron: Uprising, Wander, etc. But their fates were unfortunately sealed on arrival

I watched the Disney XD a lot latter, the only show I would watched Two More eggs. I have never seen anyone talk about that show or mentioned it! Thanks for the little mention! Would cool to see a deep dive!

It's interesting to learn about kids channels in the mid 2010s because I feel like that's when streaming kinda took over. My family dropped cable in 2013 so my Disney, Nickelodeon & Cartoon Network nostalgia kinda drops off around then.

In the UK, Disney XD was always next to the other kids channels! It was actually below Nickelodeon and above Disney Channel, at least that’s how it was on my TV

I'm so happy you made this video- I had recently been scrolling through Disney+ and crossed paths with the show Pickle and Peanut. The show feels more like an adult swim show which really threw me for a loop while watching it back. I wasn't sure how popular it was so I looked up the title hoping to find any sort of fanbase but wasn't able to. I was so disappointed because the show was such a staple in my childhood for some reason😭

I vaguely remember watching Disney toons but Jetix was the one I grew up watching. Oban, Power Rangers, Jackie Chan adventures etc. were all shows I tuned into and I even remembered the first ad for Disney XD. Then I watched some of the shows like Aaron Stone, Kick Buttowski, and I’m in the band. It was around the time when they had more gaming related stuff is where I kinda stopped watching this network but recently I saw what they were airing on there and it was kinda of a mixture of reruns and maybe new shows like big city greens and this superhero show that I think the heroes were fighting ghosts.

22:20 Yes it was a series. I remember Ross Lynch had one (and they used a song also featured in Austin and Ally that he sang (and Sabrina Carpenter sang it in one episode)). I also remember the dog from Dog With a Blog had the got a short about him. I think they were called"That's just who I am" after the song used in most of them. Also, something nobody else seems to remember is that Disney Channel aired shows from Disney XD (like Lula said, episodes premiered on Disney Channel and re-runs were on Disney XD) in a segment called "Disney XD on Disney Channel". I think it was on Saturday nights. I think they were going out of their way to get more people to watch Disney XD but it didn't really work.

I remember being 11 when Jetix and Toon Disney became Disney XD. Even though I grew up watching both Jetix and Disney XD, I kinda prefer Jetix.

I can’t express how much I loved Jetix growing up (mostly watching it through my grandparents satellite tv), because that was what introduced me to: Newer Power Rangers series, Dinosaur King, Kid vs Kat, Jimmy Two-Shoes, Yon-Yang Yo, and Total Drama Island. The only other cartoon channel that came close to admiration of this was Cartoon Network, which at the time (late Noughties early 2010’s) was no small feat. I was able to transition to XD shortly after, but I stopped watching around the time Gravity Falls started airing. I still remember that era fondly though.

It was called "the hub" and it was good. My little sister enjoyed shows like LPS, mlp, and pound puppies while I could watch original transformers (I personally didn't care for prime.) And gi Joe as well as others.
