18:22 SAME LMAO 20:58 I started listening to K-pop during second generation, around 2009 (I'm from Guatemala) and it was because of a K drama I was watching on TV that got me interested in a group called SS501, then went to the rest of then, Girls Generation, Miss A, Super Junior, Bigbang, SHINee, KARA, etc. People say K-pop was not something worldwide back then and I'm from a small country from the other side of the world, around then I was already going to k-pop festivals and seeing teams doing dance covers. I'm still listening, Stray Kids is currently my favourite group

I got into kpop through Twice. Then gravitated towards Stray Kids but when I went on a kpop dive on other groups. I found I enjoyed older groups songs more than earlier groups. Songs from SNSD, Shinee, Red Velvet, SISTAR, Exid, DEUX ect

I knew of Kpop since 2nd gen, back then 2PM was my fave. After that I didn't really check Kpop out though I knew of BTS and Blackpink, but I was not a fan. Now I am back to Kpop again thanks to Stray Kids, which definitely is one of the most popular globally at the moment. I do hope they will stay for long.

Red velvet was actually 1/200+ South korea artists to perform for North korea in 2018. Most 1st Gen K-pop groups performed in North Korea. FinKL & Shinhwa were actually the first K-pop groups to perform in North korea, FinKL in 1999 & Shinhwa in 2003, over 300+ South korean artists have performed in North Korea....

This video is so informative and good l but it was also made around when 4th gen had started- so groups debuted in 2017-2020 are definitely 4th gen (like Ateez, Straykids, (G)Idle, Aespa, TXT). And HYBE isn't a "big 3" company due to it having more influence in 4-5th gen kpop due to BTS's influence as well as going public and buying up a lot of Small companies like Pledis (seventeen's company) and KOZ (belonging to the rapper Zico)

Befor bts grew big in 2017 I guess it was there were so much more peace and its not only about topping charts etc... yes it was important and impressive to one point but that's not what music should be about...(But sadly that's what many armies make it- and other fandoms as well,armoes mostly just the loudest) Music should be there to be enjoyed and not to diss and hurt other.Back in the day's we got amazing collaborations and moments from artists and idols together but that was destroyed around 206-2017... Fans hurt and diss each other because some listen to more than just their faves is just so dump to me...I'm no biased like I listen to many artists, idols and bands in korea. People These days should learn how to chill and try to listen to more than just one song or band,idol,artist etc. maybe then they will learn to enjoy music again instead of building these hateful antics they do.... Kpop is so huge with all artist coming out and doing their part not because of just one. But people often don't see and realize. Sorry ror the rant but seeing some comments makes me so sad to see their mindset of things. But she led me to kpop 2nd gen and y forst 2nd gen group was Big Bang been listening since 2010 so like 4 years after they debuted and they were my ULTs until i found Stray Kids. I didnt really care for the 3rd gen cause well Big Bang was still making music so there wasnt really a point to 😅. American here: I have never just been into kpop. I've tried to incorporate it into my repertoire, but no kpop group has stood out to me soundwise, until SKZ. Also, Ateez stands out, they just don't have the content to keep me into them. I hit Ateez in bits and pieces. SKZ is a non-stop rollercoaster. I think that's why they're so appealing to me. They fit in best to my musical taste. I will say that I've given multiple kpop groups at least a chance, even tried to immerse myself into their personal content before trying their music. Only SKZ survived. I grew up with 80s music--by far the best era of music, IMO. I lean more toward rock, and not so much on ballads (love you Nigel😂). Maybe it's all the headbanging I love.
