Well, can't deny it's awkward that Smokey Glow and I uploaded about the same topic like a day apart, I'm sure between us you'll know everything there is to know about the brand now! UPDATE 12/1/2022 the brand rep replied with one line: "Doe has limited equity that will only be activated should Lime Crime be acquired." so she still has stake in the company but will only financially benefit if it gets sold again

I am russian, and let me tell you guys, the halloween disgrace.. No. just no. Our country is still very much traumatized by the events of the Second World War. Most people (and me personally) would not be okay with something like this.. .. and by the way, russians know quite a lot about Halloween, and we for sure understand that its purpose nowadays is to have fun (dressing up as nazi is not fun, or at least it shouldn't be.. for anyone)

Thank you for clarifying! I really appreciate it, I didn't think it would be something that would be okay, couldn't see anything online but it really helps hearing from someone who actually knows. So, this really was just a deflection tactic done by her, minimizing the trauma of her relatives too 😒

Just yesterday (through Smokey Glow's video) did I learn that Doe Deere came after Christine! Like you said, no one comes after Christine!

Christine is such a gem, I can't believe Doe had the gall to do that

Im not much of a “drama” person but this company has the most wild story. When they very first launched I was so excited about the concept of pastel lipstick (something I had never seen before at the time…things were simpler then) and ordered a lavender one. Once I found out about the repackaging and the copying of Shrinkle from Sugarpills products I was out quick. Also imagine coming for temptalia! Not a smart move 😂 Its all a shame because I adore the whimsical aesthetic. I appreciated that your video focused on confirmed facts and not speculation. Love your deep dives!! Thanks for making this 💖

Lime crime is less of a business and more of a chaotic high school girl gang in my mind. I like the looks of so much of it too but seriously, businesses shouldn't behave like this

glorious rainbow makeup tea session! I remember my friends complaining about them in 2014ish times. Ive learned a lot about different companies from you, so thank you very much for your hard work. I'm trying to only buy from aussie or kiwi brands, and you suggest so many companies it's hard to keep up with where they are all based and made.

Its very hard trying to only buy from Auz/Aotearoa brands, especially if you want cf and vegan, I'm trying to support more local brands too but there's definitely a challenge with my skin for it I've found personally

Great video, it's clear you put the mahi in and have a talent for this. I was one of their customers in 2014, thankfully I was safe from the repercussions of the data breach. It's so dissapointing to see that Doe had so many opportunities to turn it around and make the right decision but just powered through and continued to succeed.
@BryonyClaire3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I really appreciate that. I'm so glad you didn't get caught by that data beach! It is really disheartening that she just didn't listen, it wasn't even "hate" the company was getting, it was actual concerns and it could have easily been changed if there was some maturity there

Hi new subscriber here ☺️ I think I binged 3-4 hours of your content in the past day lol💖 I was just wondering if you’d consider doing a video on Dolls Kill and their numerous controversies? (I ask bc I associate them with lime crime)

So, hello from Russia, and let me say that her excuses are ridiculous, and Hitler is a super taboo figure in Russia, like... in a country with the greatest loss of life in WWII?? And it is honestly so rude and condescending to portray Russians as some out of touch people when we watch american media from childhood and consume different cultural content via the web like everyone else.

Implying that woman was being manipulative for simply doing her job while pregnant is full-on misogyny. I like your vids but that's just fucking wild, do better.

I find her take on cultural appropriation to be quite rational. I personally prefer this way of looking at it, intent does matter and we as humans shouldn't be restricted from enjoing things from a different culture. However, that doesn't mean I think the whole China Doll palette thing was okay. Or many of the other things she's done.
@BryonyClaire3 жыл бұрын
Whilst intent matters, sure, impact is important, and her willful ignorance here (and on other occasions) was unacceptable in my opinion. She refused to listen, and that's where issues happen

Old comment sorry, but thought id give my 2 cents as a person of colour. People love to make CA rational, but in all truth, its not a rational issue. Culture is deeper that rationality and speaks to the emotions and spirit of people. People cant logic away an explanation. They need to listen to the experiences of people from said cultures- both those in the home country and those who are citizens of western countries. People are still allowed to be inspired by other cultures, but theres a difference between appreciation and actually trying to own something + make money off it. Yes that means people might be too worried to attempt showing appreciation for a culture but being corrected is just something people need to humbly accept when they might be stepping over another's boundaries. I say this as a chinese woman who can get upset over people appropriating and sexualising my culture, but also as someone who has appropriated Hinduism, been called out, and learned from it :)

🍯 I enjoyed Lime Crime’s products about a decade ago now. I had no clue until your video that there was any drama at all. I’ve only dabbled in wearing makeup during certain short eras in my past… maybe another awaits in the future. I think I discovered Lime Crime on Instagram around then, and fell in love with yellow and blue lipsticks, gold and white eyeliner, dreamy packaging and themes, fantasy nail varnish shades, and matte brown liquid lippies reminiscent of the nineties. 🪞 Looking back brings me some nostalgia, I felt pretty and adventurous at the time. Anyway, this was interesting, never did say no to tea. 🫖 I haven’t bought or worn makeup in years, but if I do in the future, I will without a doubt buy the makeup dreams are made of made by Trixie Mattel Cosmetics! 🩷 And if I made a habit out of painting on my face, Kim Chi Chic Beauty would be my next stop.💟 Both burst with ott creativity, playful gurlie packaging, drool worthy aesthetics, and products dipped in the sweet honey of my stunning genius idols 🌟 🤩
