Matthew Quellin I don't think he was talking about quality, I honestly could see songs from good am being on faces and vice versa, insomniak could've been on good am, here we go could've been on good am, ros could've been on faces (there are more songs than these 3), but I really don't see any song from the divine feminine being on faces/good am, I think he said they are comparable because mac's style didn't change too much from faces to good am

You focused too much on the downfalls of his earlier stuff. there were a lot of really iconic songs back then, especially nike’s on my feet senior skip day and best day ever. On macadelic the song fight the feeling has unreal production value i really wish you spoke about that. i feel like you missed a lot of really important points about his music and you were way too harsh about it. i’ve been listening to mac since the beginning and as his music evolved so did my music taste along with it. All of us mac fans loved every album i never even knew blue slide park was rated so low. it’s sad to see so much negativy around something i thought the world of as a teenager.

I loved The Divine Feminine because of the heart and soul Mac's spills through his lyrics talking about love and women, however; I didn't love it entirely because I always thought there was something missing. Mac's Swimming is exactly what I wanted The Divine Feminine to be. The touching and lightheartedness of his voice hits but he also includes the jazz, as well as what I like to call his "chill bangers". Mac made a complete album here and I suggest this project to anyone!

I genuinely agree that Mac’s early projects are subpar but I still love everything from kids to hell can wait (with Vince staples) to blue slide park. And it’s not because it was relatable at all. In fact I was almost the polar opposite of Mac In school. The music just made me happy whenever I listened to it. It was just this fun, charismatic energy about him and i thoroughly needed that kind of energy in my life at the time. Now, I’m still nothing like Mac was then, never done drugs, don’t drink and stopped smoking. His music and personality just helped me a lot when I was younger and he’s still one of my favorite artists to date.

You hold some similar stances I have on him. I listened to him when I was a youngling and his music was just what I thought I needed to pass through the days because I felt like it was all I needed. When he started his more drug-influenced music, he went from fun and admirable to fantastic. Yes I really do overrate Mac MIller but he just stands as my favorite hip hop artist to listen to. Not GZA or MF Doom or Tribe, but just Mac. There was a period when I listened to really only Faces (as a whole album) for like more than a semester because how his sound just resonated so well with the extremity of my mindset. I will never knock him, and I will always play him, so on and so forth.
