I've been playing since beta and have been in plat or higher since year 2. I feel like I play more casually than I used to, despite the game getting seemingly sweatier. I think the biggest thing that's really changed is the player base, but more specifically how it's played. As people got better at the game, there began to be bigger gaps in skill, but also as new players entered and saw how the game was being played, they focused too much on improving their ability to win gunfights instead of on learning the strategy. Also the art style changes have made the game in a bizarre hybrid arcade/tactical spot and it can't decide what it wants to be. I think the whole "Ranked 2.0 champion" vs "real champion" really exemplifies the current skill gap, where someone who's a 2.0 champion could body bag a bunch of coppers by running around with warden but would get smoked by a coordinated team. The game is in an interesting place balancing wise currently, but I'm still hoping they just make a siege 2 at this point. Also great video, deserves more views but it kind of reflects the state of siege YT as well--will never be what it once was.

i really miss the old days of seige, where it was new and everyone was learning new tactics each week to counter stuff it was really fun. i stopped playing in 2018 it was just turning into something different each time a new operator was coming out, cheaters and bugs.

Siege reveal demo was basically the best version being gritty, real, violent. Now you're playing in the Olympics killing one another instead of taking out any terrorist threat (especially since terrorist hunt is removed) it's like as if Ubisoft come up with the best ideas/concepts then reveal that concept to then basically completely destroy zed idea/ambition. now it's a arcade sparkly Fortnite want to be in terms of skins/cosmetics. They kill whatever they touch

Wow man, what an incredible video. It really is sad to see so many content creators leaving the game just as me and my friends are getting back into it. But I have to say that I am kinda hopeful for the game. The patch notes for the first season of year 9 seem like Ubi is really trying to get their act together and redirect siege away from the deathmatch meta. I think with some small tweaks and updates especially to the anti-cheat, ranked system, and especially the content drought we might one day soon see the game that we grew up with thrive again. Personally I would love to see r6 launch with a "siege 2" like how cs:go did last year to improve the engine and bring back the playerbase. I believe that one day soon, this game will be enjoyable again, and I hope to see you return triumphantly when that happens.

Started playing Siege at Year 2 Season 1 Velvet Shell at 13. And I grew up with this game and I too am a 19 year old college student who missed how things were back then. Although the game wasn’t perfect, it was very nostalgic the start menu music and how casual the average player was made the game fun like knives only, and giving rook armor to the enemy team, compared to what it is now where everyone wants to be a pro player. Things have changed Great video bro very impressive how you got all this down, I’m curious how long it took you to make this.

To answer your question, it took roughly a month and a half to script, record, and edit the whole thing. It was a GRIND to say the least. But, it was worth it cause I think this is one of if not my best video ever made.

the video was great. it was fun seeing the evolution the game. whoever you failed to mentioned the terrified speed boost that finka used to give and that it transformed blitz to 4 speed on the tts, also that player hated the reduce recoil from her abilities. Plus all the controversial changes that made to certain operator such as zofia abilitie to withstand that was removed and dokaebi not being able to to call echo as he was her ex.

To be honest, the only thing I thought was missing, is Zofia loosing her withstand. Although it not being that impactful at first, i felt really frustrated when they added the withstand back to rook with his gadget. Yes take a passive away from an operator just to give it to a gadget, so that the whole team has this ability available

Maybe the best video I've ever watched, sat here and watched all of it. Well done! So much nostalgia, I started Y1S3. Watching all those moments, old-school maps, fewer ops, new maps and ops every season ... Yes, the game had bugs, a lot of them. And it was irritating. Maps were not perfect, but imo it was much better then. And I think it was played the way it was meant to. Now its getting so boring, you're only playing like 5 maps, every other map just gets banned, and even if they release a good op, he'll be banned all the time.

I just picked this game back up last week, after i stopped playing 6 years ago. Its insane how much has changed. I went from being top of the leaderboard every single match, to now i feel like i have no clue what I'm doing. None of the maps are the same. I dont know what the majority of the operators do. The weapons seem so much more sluggish. Its such a foreign feeling because i had put days on days in this game for the first 3 years.

Yeah other Ubisoft titles and video essays is what I want to focus on initially. I plan on making a video on R6 Extraction, and then at some point I want to go through each Far Cry game. But, it wont just be Ubisoft. I also want to do videos on the Halo games and other stuff. Basically I'll explain the development of each game and what led up to their release, then I'll go in depth and break down what I like and dislike about each game. Each video I plan on posting going forward will be 30 minutes or more in that kind of style. Some will be on broader topics too, like monetization in gaming, but most will be specific to a game or series

Played since the alpha. It was my favorite game. But I had to stop when alibi came put. The m&k and smurfing on console killed it for me. I placed plat or diamond almost every season. I looked forward to playing. And when it went from a new map and two new ops every season to maybe one and a redone map. They bit off more than they could chew when it came to releasing content. Was definitely a fun game when it was at its peak at least for me. But very good vid. Got a new sub from it.

I played a bit around dust line and then dropped off entirely until white noise and was playing religiously until around neon dawn. I jumped back in for about a week when azami came out cause she looked cool but I didn't stick around too long. I just downloaded the game a few days ago after seeing deimos get revealed and he looks dope, figured I'd give the game another shot and honestly enjoyed seeing the arcade playlist. Lot of fun gamemodes in there. Then I jumped into casual and was continuously running out of time, not really knowing why until I realized it's 2:45 for some reason. 3.5 minutes felt short back in the day, there's no time to drone or do anything except run and gun now. Kinda hate it. That being said, kapkan traps are catching everyone so that's fun (mainly because there's no time to check doors but I'm not one to shy away from easy kills)

I’m surprised he didn’t mention when gadgets were added. Claymores weren’t in the game at launch and it was a big deal to get them when they were added.

Unpopular Opinion: Operation Chimera was one of the best seasons in all 9 years of Siege. Mainly because of the event. Absolutely loved that event because of its depth.
