There were also those elemental variants of goons, rampage, spitter, and apparently an enhanced volatile before the tyrant just called the black volatile. I’ve only seen the goons in regular free roam so I think the others were only used during a side quest.

the lore of the second game could've made better. Remeber in the first game in the dlc there was a missing person mission that we find out he was turning into a volatile. That shit was dark and we didnt knew a thing back then. So we come up with some theorys that was interesting compare to this new virus lore

the thing that makes the first parts of games look better in players eyes, is just the memories and the confusion because back then we didn't know anything - second game was really good, maybe better in almost everything than the first part but we know more, we have less confusion, we are less scared (used to dl1 (so we can't actually feel the same thing as we used to feel when playing dl1 for the first time..)

The only thing I feel like I could ever suggest as a correction is probably how Volatiles form in DL1 and maybe Virals. It's never really explained what makes Volatiles from the original HV variant until the Following with the Side Quest that suggests it's a very specific genetic or almost perhaps a ritualistic style of evolution. Mutations also are naturally genetic in DL1 vs THV Gen Mod to manipulate their genetics in DL2. Also, since HV is more resistant to UV, that's why we see Nightwalkers in DL1 and not in DL2 (unless Techland retcons this). HV, Virals are also still in that Human status to some extent where they'll beg for mercy (or in the E3 Alpha trailer even warn you to stay away from them) and they don't degenerate to Biter from UV, that's just the inevitable fate of them. THV, Virals pretty much seem to lose their humanity immediately and are more susceptible to UV since they can die very quick to it, they have to have steady doses of UV to devolve into Biters then Degenerates, and Volatile just becomes a natural evolution from the Viral if they stay in the Dark, and ofc evolve to Tyrants instead of Alphas in an almost similar style to DL1 standard Volatiles.

Besides, in DL1 there was antizin, the only way to suppress the virus. In dl2 uv light does that for you thanks to the virus being different, hence the night timer.

@@Soundwave1900 Antizin is in DL2 as well. Not only just mentioned, but it's literally the UV Inhaler you use to stave off infection. THV is just an evolved form of HV, so naturally it was likely very easy to produce huge quantities of a different form of Antizin that's easily accessible.

Lore wise... This is because HV is more UV Resistant than THV. THV is deadlier but also weaker to UV. HV infected Zombies don't get hurt in the Sun or UV Lamps except for Volatiles, instead are more aggressive at Night, and Biters that turn into Nightwalkers are more sensitive to UV. Also keep in mind that Crane would get his Seizures in the day too. Aiden only started getting them when his infected blood mingled with the Inhibitors which is THV mixed with Antizin, basically making him the closest thing to a Sentient Infected since Kyle and The Mother in the Following Ending.

My only complain about DL2 infected that they didn't give cool and brutal introduction to them and their design isn't as gruesome as DL1 or DL2 E3/Concept art. I expected every mutated infected to have brutal introduction like killing, eating people, etc (E3 2019 that bomber or swamp virals had good introduction).

Nighttime is boring and annoying. There so many volatile at night that is not scary or realistic. Chases is my biggest problem with the night system. Chases feel like an Arcade type and when a volatile starts a chase then roaming volatile wont spawn until the chase has end so makes chase easier to escape and i want techland to add roaming volatile tyarnt, virals and holwers. Wish that the proces of how zombies turn into different species was explained better. How can a zombie suddenly change into a volatile? I liked that in DL1 there were nests. ​@@Royal_121 Yeah that's a really good question because the only thing that changed in this new virus is the speed. Its now deadlier and acts faster than before but other than that we have no new infected in this strain... I guess its a Techland moment.

Hello, BG Ali! I have some thoughts to share with you. The Dying Light lore topic is super complicated, so it’s understandable why the video doesn’t cover some stuff. But before I go to my thoughts, I have a question… Why you didn’t ever mention the comics about the night hunter (possibly Kyle Crane) and the first banshee? Now, let’s move to the thoughts! 3:48 - oof, it’s blue volatile. Check the Dying Light 1 patch notes. Don’t use the made-up names for the infected please. 7:12 - volatile tyrants have nothing to do with the blue volatiles. Let’s talk about the video up to this point. You basically made a mashup of two different str*ins of the HV. The lore behind THV (about UV light and stuff) cannot be 100% applied on the OGHV. The only thing that can save the life of the yet unturned infected person is antizin in Dying Light 1. THV is a lighter version of the HV in this regard, because UV Light is basically unlimited in the world of Dying Light 2 Stay Human. 8:28 - I think these ones are called chargers. Though I didn’t do Harper’s bounties (the descriptions feature the infected’s names, and the drowners are technically suiciders in this regard) in a while, so I’m not sure. 9:42 - okay, here you are talking about differences between OGHV and THV. You should do it earlier. Write a better script. Also you forgot to include howlers to the day-time zombies group, though they are day-time infected since the Community Update #3 (1.13). Eh, okay, you mentioned the change of howlers right after that. But yeah, F the lore. It’s inconsistent, especially after Bloody Ties (worst Dying Light DLC ever) release. We don’t know exactly how the special infected were created during the Harran outbreak. They are just here. In Dying Light 2 Stay Human, they showed us the “evolution” scheme that you demonstrated in this video, according to which every special infected (even weaker one like a spitter, or just an insect like a bolter, howler or suicider) is a mutation of the papa volatile. Also how is it possible to a volatile evolve into a banshee? Like how? THV-GenMod special infected were created on the Black Monday (on January 6, 2025), so it seems there wasn’t any of them before. But I didn’t read the comics yet, and these comics about 2020s show a banshee and a night hunter, our favorite Kyle Crane himself. I understand, it’s hard to unravel the tangle of Dying Light lore, at least yet when the “Kyle Crane walks in heroically” DLC is not out yet. I hope Techland will answer questions in the real story DLC (Bloody Ties is not one!), and I hope they won’t bring more questions to find answers for like in The Following. I’m still waiting for the answers of the stuff that is discovered in The Following actually!!!

Hey Friend, Thank you for taking your time in writing all this. Now why did i not mention Night Hunter Comics & First Banshee because these were not part of the Lore. Techland for some reason likes to add all these things & then scraps it whenever they want. Also The Blue Volatiles have 3 Names - Alpha Volatile, Evolved Volatile & Blue Volatile. and fun fact Dying Light 2 has Alpha Volatiles who are a bit stronger & Larger in size, You can find them in game or game files & even in Dev tools. Also there was a log in the first game talking about the patient zero the first infected & there they mentioned that Harran Virus is intolerant of UV light and just like in DL2 the virus dies if comes in contact of UV light for too long. and another fun fact Techland has said that Antizin basically has same effects as UV light, so applying antizin or staying in light both works. The only difference in Dying Light 2 THV is that its Airborne & that's why staying all the time in light is important. Next the chargers code name is Rampage in the game. Also my friend i think the script is fine because my plan was to talk about the mutations first and then i was going to differentiate between the virus..So that's exactly what i did. and being honest the Lore is kinda messed up right now, Techland has it all mixed up badly. I too hope the DLC 2 brings in more light to these questions. also thanks for taking your time reading all this. much appreciated.

@@BestGamerAli, as I said, it's hard to make a comprehensive lore video breaking down the Dying Light universe. I was thinking a little bit more about this topic and your work on it, and now I can say that you did a pretty good job here (though I believe you could make it even better), because, as I said, the DL lore is too messed up since introduction of The Following (there are so many contradictive points) - and Dying Light 2 Stay Human (which is technically a soft reboot lore-wise) made everything even more complicated series-wise because it didn't answer the questions from Dying Light 1 & The Following. And you tried your best to put only facts here without the inclusion of controverial takes. Also I saw that you answered someone in the comment section (I can't find that thread right now) that The Following wasn't canon at launch. I heard that from another DL fans, but I was thinking all this time that it's just their headcanon, because I didn't hear that from the devs themselves. I started to follow their media in 2018, and they were talking that The Following is canon around that time period (the only thing is that they were saying that they don't want to name the canon ending which is well-known now, though, because they changed their mind). Can you send me a source on the statement that The Following wasn't canon at launch? It would be much appreciated!! Thanks for the response, by the way!

Let’s imagine a “What If the outside world helped the people of Harran” The Harran Virus obviously won and was spread worldwide due to Crane escaping from the quarantine (but should he be put to blame for that he obviously didn’t realise where he was heading or that he escaped the quarantine due to the effects of the serum) But what if Kyle and Brecken and Spike came up with a plan to make contact to the outside world the government , the military for example and Crane eventually explained to them everything about the Virus, about the GRE, The Ministry Of Defense, and about a Cure would the world have been saved then? (If there were still people sane enough to realise this couldn’t continue any longer people’s life were in danger and being brutally killed) What do you think?

I don't think that the new variants come exactly from volatiles in dying Light 2, as only half of them share the split jaw open and aren't even similar at all, like you can't explain why a male volatile suddenly became a female, or suddenly all his muscles were flopped.. Hell even in the comics for dying Light 2 the main female character became a banshee right away with the THV instead of going trough the whole process of zombification

No sir all the special infected have split jaws like a volatile. also about that volatile gender thing... it's a classic Techland moment, But talking about its muscle being flopped well it's because of the Chemicals which increases the speed of the virus that basically kills them & their body starts degrading quicker... that's why military planned on doing chemical bombings because it could kill the zombies by shortening its life... But shit happened lol & instead of dying they mutated.

Ultimately Dying Light 2 was not deeply thoughtout. All the changes and changes of rules show it. This game could have been soooo deep. But Techland doesn't know how to do that. Plus this game clearly needed at least 8 more months of development. They rushed the ending.

Zombies don’t age They don't age as in the cells of the body growing, maturing and the zombie maturing as well. They no longer make new cells, so their aging is really just deterioration. But here’s my problem the zombies in dying light are referred to as infected different types of infected but i mostly mean the Volatiles do they deteriorate over time you don’t see it happening in game and you can’t read it on the internet so what does that mean for Kyle Crane.. Kyle Crane turned into a infected / A Sentient Volatile but the most simplest term he can be described as is Zombie so what??

Drowners are technically suiciders that can sprint. There is no lore for them. The game is unfinished, and they are just a fast-moving reskin for the suiciders.

DISCLAIMER:I tried my best explaining in english,forgive me if you ron't understand! : You didn't explain well and forgot some a zombie infection,or 2,the "Untestosteronised zombie" which is just after the regular zombie and he is super slow,super week,and super ugly,then,in THE FOLLOWING,you have Abomination,which is zombies that their DNA change due to chemicals infection,also,Demolisher in the first game,if correct,is a GRE experience that failed,i think like the goon,and the bombers,have bad tissu for the zombie virus,meaning that the virus didn't progress well(like spitters,but them,it wasn't that bad,so the virus adapted)and let the human alive,and not transform him completely,then you forgot boltere,idk which theory is behind those...

Actually when i did my research about the Lore, I check the game files, voice logs, collectables, D2K episodes, old dying light forums & website and everywhere i looked the Lore only focused on the main string of the Harran Virus. So from Viral to Volatile that's the max the virus goes in DL1 and all other zombies like bolter, demolisher, goon & etc have no proper explanation. Dying Light 2 later explains why these different mutations happened, Well it's because of the chemicals & if you watch the video i have shared the infection stages & tree. Finally the other zombies you mentioned like drowners and the freaks of nature have no proper explanation in the game or outside game anywhere.. The following DLC during launch was not even canon. I believe it became Canon after Techland realized how famous Kyle Crane is & that's why the following was made Canon. and because of that now Techland has issues explanation a lot of this lol, Rest i can't say much because it will be considered spoilers for the Next DLC. Unless you wanna talk about leaks my friend in DM's ;)
