MK1's announcer is Shang Tsung, MK2's and (U)MK3's is Shao Kahn, and MK4's is Quan Chi. Every other announcer is supposedly Shao Kahn too, but we're never told, we're just left assuming because of the announcer's deep voice. Funnily enough, MK11 has Shao Kahn as two announcers: the default one from ever since MK9, and the actual Shao Kahn from this game.

Shaolin Monks is my favorite in terms of Steve Richies delivery of the lines as it sounds so badass. Gameplay-wise MK9, MKX and MK11 are the best in that regard but in regards to the announcers and soundtrack, they don't even compare to older games.

For me it peaked at MK 3, that game had everything. The games that followed couldn't compare despite enhanced rosters and graphics. Mk3 was king until it picked up again for mk9, X and particularly Mk11 which can make a case for being the best beat em up of all time
