I like how The Expanse shows the best and worst of humanity. That scene at the docks with the Belters doing what needs to be done to save those among them is a moving example of the former.

The ship that Errinwright ordered to be destroyed wasn't carrying any protomolecule. It was supposed to pick up the protomonster Hybrid from the Ganymede lab but Amos's grenade fucked that whole plan up. Now it's on the Roci.

Two really great exchanges with Errinwright/Korshunov & Bobbie/Cotyar. Errinwright: "You give a monkey a stick & inevitably it'll beat another monkey to death with it." Korshunov almost LOL'd at the Stanley Kubrick reference. I also really liked the back & forth with Bobbie & Cotyar. Cotyar: "My IQ tested too high to be a marine." Bobbie: "But your morals tested low enough to be a spy."

I loved her reaction to the cucumber sandwiches. Cucumbers must be a luxury on Mars. They take up a lot of soil and the plants don't produce a whole lot of oxygen. Food isn't really a problem on Mars, but most of the vegetables they eat have to also serve as oxygen producers. Hence why you see Bobbie eating cucumber sandwiches like crazy.

In many ways, the greatest enemy featured on this show is human nature. Rockets, torpedoes, alien technologies-those are the things people just toss at each other to wage their wars. Even in space, people tend to be the most dangerous things. It’s such a sad theme to follow sometimes. Which is why this episode stands out to me so much. With so many people at each others’ necks, the belters, in the midst of certain death, have gone against their base interests and did their best to save as many as they can. I’ve seen some comments on other forums stating that that scene was pure fluff; unrealistic Hollywood feel-good triteness. But I don’t think it’s baseless. Humanity can be a terrible species at the best of times. But in a hostile and indifferent universe, we would never get so far if we were incapable of giving a shit about others.

Agreed. A lot of people forget about the good that humanity is capable of, because the news and media is so heavily focused towards the negatives. If something like this happens in real life, the news reports would be talking about all dead and the armies squaring off. The refugee ship that got away and the sacrifices made for that would only be known to the relatively small number that met the refugees in the future.

I think the shared tears with Naomi and the other woman was the acknowledgement that the woman was wrong not to believe they could save all of the people and the Rocinate would rendezvous with them and be able to take on the load...tough tough scene and decisions. Well written and played out.

For the Record, Holden had not necessarily changed. He was freaked out by the proto molecule, and wanted it destroyed as quickly as possible, rather than risk another infection.

12:10 - Honestly, Errinwright had a bit of a point. The way the series portrays things, he's something like Chrisjen's star pupil that took her lessons to their natural conclusion, so while his methods are extreme, they still hold to the theme that Earth *must* come first. Even if it means acts of horrific genocide that might have made Genghis Khan think, "Whoa! Take a step back, brother!" (Well probably not Genghis, he was miles ahead of the curve)

In a way, the proto-molecule did something to Holden. The conspiracy protecting and preserving it ruined his life and those of his crew starting with the destruction of the Canterbury. The proto-molecule creature is a symbol of that. Holden thinks destroying it would put an end to the nightmare.

I loved seeing Errinwright make his moves this episode. We kinda knew he was a player because we were told he was, but this was the episode where he shows it. He's doing bad things for only halfwaybdefensible reasons, but he still makes himself into a villain I love and love to hate.

This might be the best episode of the whole show tbh. Bobby and Christian team up begins. Errinwright flips the script on everyone. The belter refugee scene is definitely one of the best moments in the whole show on its own. And last but not least "this is the war ship Rocinante".

Yeah that show really fucked with my feelings for Errinwright ... damn it... I'm digging those character-arcs and here they just shit on what I want to see and make him switch again? I waited for him to switch sides for so long! I somewhat still hope that he's not quite as evil, simultanously I kinda understand him and on the other hand even if it were just a 'evil' move, I love it because he just turned the whole situation around. Still, I don't get it completely. I assume he actually planned to go to prison and have Christjen take care of everything else, before he heard that she will meet Mao. So, I assume that was when he made up his plan. So we could still argue, that his scene with his son was entirely honest and he didn't know yet what he would do later. But why write that letter to his ex? (I assume Jodie was his ex-wife?) I'm really looking forward to next season!

Obviously Chrisjen isn't going anywhere with Bobby and Cotyar as her Aces...I want to see how competent each of them are in combat...by all accounts Bobby is the prime badass of the bunch on Amos level...I CAN'T wait to see if those two meet!! Holden is in need of another wrinkle to make his emotional state make more sense...I think they under exposed the weight he feels and probably could have added a recurring nightmare of him being the cause of all this or him needing to make the hard decision to show how his psyche is under assault by guilt/responsibility to be the guy standing in the gap for humanity/the system... I think Chrisjen's next stop is to see Fred Johnson in person if she is some how pushed out from Earth for a sec...then she/Fred/Bobby/Cotyar link up with Rocinate somehow...all battling...The Protomolecule is still largely unknown by Earth and Mars...there are a handful of people dealing in it...to the degree where MCRN was sacrificing their own to test it...crazy. Naomi can do no wrong in my eyes...I just wish they didn't keep guns our of her hands...she has the best body (athletically/aesthetically) so treating her as some fragile flower with a six pack is lame...in real life she is a track athlete/dancers...wouldn't mind them showing her being a bit more dynamic...they started with that, but seem to decide to mute her physical power presence to showcase her as an independent thinker/leader...not mad Amos relationship with Naomi and his own internal struggle is interesting...I saw somewhere that he and Prax has some type of dynamic to play our too...more interested in his next evolution...
