About The Expanse:
The disappearance of rich-girl-turned-political-activist Julie Mao links the lives of Ceres detective Joe Miller (Thomas Jane), accidental ship captain James Holden (Steven Strait) and U.N. politician Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo). Amidst political tension between Earth, Mars and the Belt, they unravel the single greatest conspiracy of all time.
About The Expanse Seasons 2:
In this noir thriller set two hundred years in the future, the case of a missing young woman leads a washed-up detective across the solar system to uncover the greatest conspiracy in human history.
About The Expanse Seasons 3:
As the Rocinante crew digs deeper into the search for Prax's missing daughter, the war between Earth and Mars turns deadly in ways the solar system has never seen. But a new threat in the outer reaches of the Belt could prove much more dangerous, threatening to test the very future of humanity.
About The Expanse Seasons 4:
Season 4 of The Expanse, its first as a global Amazon Original, begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the U.N. to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.
About The Expanse Seasons 5:
In different parts of the Solar System, the crew of the Rocinante and their allies confront the sins of their past, while Marco Inaros unleashes an attack that will alter the future of Earth, Mars, the Belt, and the worlds beyond the Ring.

Right behind Sonequa Martin Green for the "Michael Burnham Show" where 90% of that shows time centers on Michael. If time given to one character at the expense of all else means "Emmy!", then you badly damage the pace and "rest of the story", and Green would win over Tipper.

@@shamsham1229 What you call "negativity" more rational people call "criticism". And the point was writers always run the risk of making a protagonist so perfect in every way that they are no longer credible. The "Mary Sue" syndrome. Worse, once the writers , and the STD writers are the worst, fall so in love with a character they created that they talk producers into giving more and more airtime to their perfect creation, sucking the oxygen out of all other show elements and storylines. So far, the Expanse has put more time into "The Mother and Child Reunion Drama and all Mom Naomis Personal Tribulations" Space Soap storyline - than the Belter War. The show is far better than STD and I believe they will avoid the STD trap, and have the show finally address the War at some length - but right now, they have given Naomi the Michael Burnham treatment the last two episodes....maybe Woke Politics plays a role, as writers at STD admit they do in character creation and development. But two episodes left, and the payoff cannot be "Forget the Belter War" Filip has learned to Love Her! Love Her! He is sorry he slapped his mom, the most awesome human in the universe!"

@@1chrisford Honestly, IMO, Drummer deserves an Emmy, not so much Dominique, not taking away from her performance this season, it is good, but Drummer and Peaches story arc is what is driving this season. Naomi is going to survive, plot armor ensures this, which means Alex and Bobbi, Holden and the Roci do as well. Drummer and Peaches, on the other hand, hold no such armor, as neither is crucial to the story after this season.

i really loved how the show doesn't use exposition to explain what is going through Naomi's head as she is doing the mental mathematics and engineering in her head to figure out the air pressure, and what she is trying to do and how it all comes together in the end credits. It is an excellent mirror of how it plays out in the book and translates really well what could have just been her talking to no one simply for the sake of the viewer.

Another great episode of Ty and That Guy! Naomi’s struggle in this week’s episode was so amazing and smart. I love that they didn’t have her tell us what she was thinking. They never dumb it down and fans appreciate that. We know she is always the smartest person in the room and we don’t need to know all the science she is working with, we only need to know that SHE knows.

On Star Trek Discovery, the writers ensured every scene made viewers know Michael Burnham was the smartest person in any room. Even if she wasn't in the room, so her insignificant side kicks could whine things could be resolved, if only Michael Burnham appeared. Two episodes left. We will know soon if the major focus on Naomi, with other clashes and story arcs save maybe Amos being diminished for "More Naomi!!" was a good call or not.

Expanse is quality. Hunger Games is a cheap rip off .. the original and best is Battle Royale. Divergent kind of fell off the rails by the 3rd book and movie. Let's not even start with the Maze Runner or the Giver. You are wise to avoid Twilight, the writing quality on that was similar to a hack Mills and Boon romance book. All these just made me realize how good the writing is in The Expanse and Harry Potter.

Agree, but weekly format gives you a chance to think about scenes, watch it again and listen to the discussion points. In 10 years I’ll binge watch the entire series in holo deck format! That will be epic!

Agreed. There is no reason for a streaming service to adopt a broadcast TV schedule. It makes more sense to take advantage of the ability to binge, rather than stringing people along piecemeal week to week.
@meoff7602
@meoff7602 3 жыл бұрын
@@tmmartin50 No reasons for the customer. I think can one reason why Streaming service might want to do it. If people are only subscribing to Amazon for this show that means they will subscribe for one month binge watch cancel. With eight episodes. One a week that stretches it out to, two months. So getting people to pay for your service for two months is more profitable than one month.

@@meoff7602 I'm enjoying it more on the weekly schedule, to be honest. There's much better discussion around each episode, I think. When season 4 came out, I binge-watched it in a few days. My friends took much longer to watch it - a few weeks in some cases - and by the time they finished it I had forgotten many of the finer details and it hampered our discussion. Our discussion is much better this season because we can't just move onto the next episode. The same goes for online discussion - I can go on reddit, Twitter, etc and have interesting discussions with people where we break down what happened, look at details, etc, whereas with season 4 everyone just moved onto the next episode straight away and the only real discussion was everyone's opinions of the whole season. Also, people are talking about The Expanse much more this season than with season 4 because it goes on for two months. With season 4, it came out, everyone talked about it for a week and then the discussion mostly died, whereas this time it's an ongoing discussion. It introduces more new people to the show, as well as being more engaging for current fans. Finally, I feel like it's much more engaging as a viewer when I have time to digest each episode before I watch the next. I can spend time thinking about it, discussing it, rewatching it if I want, and I feel like I have a more complete understanding and appreciation of each episode by the time the next one comes around. Binge-watching is still an option for the people who want it, too - you can just wait until all of the episodes are out and then binge-watch them.

Wes, that was such an interesting interview with Ty and Daniel. I am the same age as those guys and it was fun watching them talk about the tv when they were kids. The Expanse series has me so Hooked that I started reading the books a few months back. I am currently reading Babylon's Ashes here during the 5th season. Hey, you know something I love about the Expanse? You know how in Star Trek (not the original Star Trek) there could be a huge emergency but the characters weirdly have time to discuss there feelings ad nauseam... like they just stop what they are doing because some character is confused about how someone else is on the rag? Yeah, the Expanse doesn't do that. Congrats to all for making the best/coolest Science fiction TV series ever.
