Amos Burton deals with some Belter extorsionists in the only way he knows how, aboard The Lazy Songbird, on his way to Earth via Luna.
I had to trim the first 30 seconds or so off this scene to avoid the whole video getting copyright blocked.
Apologies for the 2 month gap in uploads - normal business has resumed. I hope!

Taken out of context, this could seem like a tough guy cliché "do you feel lucky, punk" sort of scene. But fans know it's so much deeper than that. In the book, Amos was looking for a fight since he'd learned about Lydia's death. He thought about starting a fight in a bar on Tycho Station with a poor Belter who was glaring at him, resentful of his obviously copious cash, but he decided to buy him a drink instead. So when the gang comes along for their protection racket, Amos perks right up, because he knows he's found a fight he won't feel conflicted about. When he says, "I didn't do it for them", what he means is that this wasn't about the protection money, it was about finding someone to beat the shit out of. Amos can't really process grief like most people, and he's filled with a sense of rage over the idea that someone may have murdered Lydia, because in his world, dying of natural causes was virtually unknown. So the only way he knows to cope with the agitation and uncertainty he feels is to engage in violence, because that's actually when he feels most calm - that's when he knows what to do.

When Amos enters the cabin he asks the two Belters if they snore, the inference is that if they do they might not like the consequence. After he settles on his bunk he then hears the old guy snore, Amos looks at him, then settles. I think there’s also respect for the old guy. The “I didn’t do it for them’ might also have been to protect the codger.

Amos was acting clever. If he gave them time the chaps might have come up with a plan that would work, but by immediately going into the shower they were still angry and didn't think their plan. There's this really fantastic point about Amos' character and how he is written for these fights that I almost think the average viewer often forgets; Amos was born and raised on Earth, his body is accustomed to it's gravity and is therefore possible of greater feats of strength and endurance than what most residents of the Belt are capable of. When you see Belters or even Martians try and go toe-to-toe with Amos you may think "Why does he always win, so boring..", just remember what you are witnessing is almost like a Halo Spartan going up against a regular human lol. @@kylrapture That's because he invested A LOT into the character. Wes (actor who plays Amos) actually went through the books to get to know the character AND then he went on a series of appointments (meetings, how ever it's called) with a shrink to get an in-depth analysis and information about what a person like Amos (who suffered horrible abuse, sexual exploitation and did not have real parents, grew up with gangs and on street) would hold inside, how would he behave, mannerism, tone of voice, what drives those people forward, everything. While most other actors on the show simply turned up to play the role, Wes Chatam practically finished a PhD thesis on Amos Burton - and combined with his acting skills created one of the most memorable and awesome characters we got to see on screen. All the while being an adorable human being in private life.

In the books, she comes across as more mature. Competent without having to constantly prove it. It's hard to explain... The show makes it out like she focuses on being a good soldier. The books make it out like she's already a good soldier, and doesn't have to try so hard to prove it.

Wes Chatham is almost the perfect actor to portray Amos. He has the right build, the right look, he can be intimidating AF, but, he lacks one key ingredient... His voice. He totally sounds like a 19 year old kid most of the time. If he had a Josh Brolin voice, well, that's perfection! That said, Wes still delivers a stellar performance nonetheless and I can't think of anyone but him in the role. I really appreciate how faithful to the books the writers have been. The biggest let down of Game of Thrones was how far they deviated from the books, not so with the Expanse!
