Exploring Manhood part 2 - the original concept and cultivation of masculinity. Today were looking at the ancient ideals of arete and andreia in Greece, and manly virtu to the Romans. Arete was a greek word to refer to excellence; physical, mental, and moral excellence. Arete, along with andreia, were at the center of the ancient Greek concept of manhood. Virtus or virtu was the roman equivalent. These ideas and stories around masculinity were critical in the cultivation of embodied men in ancient times.

Excellent video and commentary. I idealized Bruce Lee, Jean Claude Van Dam, Steven Segal, but also Johnny Depp, and Fabio… I ended up being a mix of these characters/men and have had many adventures, and so many stories to tell, and lots of excellent experiences with women. That propaganda needs to be stopped. Homosexuality was illegal and often people would call gays as “kinaidos” (meaning literally “faggot” or man with low morals in Ancient Greece).
