The F Market & Wharves line is one of several light rail lines in San Francisco, California. Unlike the other lines, the F line is operated as a heritage streetcar service, using exclusively historic equipment both from San Francisco's retired fleet as well as from cities around the world. While the F line is operated by the San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni), its operation is supported by Market Street Railway, a nonprofit organization of streetcar enthusiasts which raises funds and helps to restore vintage streetcars.

This was originally just going to be a temporary thing when they shut down the cable cars for a couple of years to rebuild the system. Mainly aimed at tourists. But it was so popular they kept it around and expanded it,

Took at least a couple of rides along this line when visiting San Francisco last month! While San Francisco is justly famed for its cable cars, these old streetcars are just as fun to ride!

6:00 That's the first time i've heard a PCC streetcar use its horn! 7:37 that's my favorite PCC car on this system! The one in Kansas City cream and black! There's also a Kansas City PCC on dsplay in the River Market (next to the current streetcar line), and one in the Illinois Railway museum! You cahught the Mexico City car 9number 1072) quite a few times in this video!

Hey I recognise the orange and cream livery of the Boston Elevated Railway / MTA / MBTA, the red and cream livery of the Toronto Transit Commission, and if I'm not mistaken, the two-tone green of an earlier paint scheme of the SF Municipal Railway. Even as late as the 1970s I saw the orange and cream livery on many of the MBTA's Green Line PCC trolleys.

It's a big shame New York City doesn't have any street cars, After all, there are other cities that still have street cars like Boston, Philadelphia, as well as San Francisco. New York used to have lots of street cars back then, but not anymore.

The second trolley pole is used when the operator runs the car in reverse using a control stand hidden behind a seat cushion at the rear of the car. This is used when reversing the car direction using a wye.
