The mps 1000 is great. But do get a custom bass drum pedal like the millenium pro one, either double or single base. And do replace the beaters that come with it with a softer beater, as it plays much and much better. For the rest the mps1000 is a really nice kit, but it does require a bit of setting up, like the hihat, trigger responsiveness etc etc. But when all is set up, its a blast to play!

I ordered mine from the Millennium website, I live in Florida, and it took about a month to get it, and I received in 3 separate packages. It was a nightmare dealing with shipment when entered US. They have to approve the wood materials. But Millennium customer service was totally awesome and super helpful. After I owned this set for 2 years, I will say that it is an excellent value for the money and is nothing outhere that can compete with it at that value. The hi hat is limited and changes. It won't improve too much due to the module. Cymbals won't stop rotating due to the locking mechanism not working as it should. But overall, happy with it. I record audio with a Spund Devices mix pre II and quality is extremely good with great dynamic range. The triggers are ok and not even close to an Alexis pro but good enough to practice and rehearsals.

I played an MPS 1000 for about 1 year and really recommend. Caveats: - Doing fast open hihat grooves with closing/opening: forget it. Unless you manage some crazy settings that make it good: I never did - Hitting bell of ride consistently: forget it - Choking of crashes: a bit frustrating and hard to get working right - Double bass: unless you do really clean hits and never bury the beater, you will have to tweak settings every once in a while depending if you're doing a lot of double bass or not It looks badass and playing on acoustic size is invaluable though, for the closer-to-real-acoustic-experience

Yeah, I'll tell you my experience (I'd say with millenium, given that xdrum is like a "rebrand", dunno what to call it) Three years ago, I bought an xdrum dd 670, exclusively for acoustic sizes (the sounds weren't THAT bad, but nothing exceptional). Now I bought a roland td27 module. And I gotta say, millenium has got really good trigger sensitivity, and in some ways, the xdrum module kinda limitated the triggers. The only downside is the hardware: tried swapping the mesh heads with acoustic heads: you can get a good sound out of them, but the lugs are unstable. Overall, they are great for playing at home

I've been using a MPS1000 module on my A2E drumkit for 2 years. Before that, I had used a TD17 for about 4 years (now sold), and I still own a backup TD11 with custom sounds (a killer) and a TD4 (which stays at friends' place for a "ready to setup" kit) I am using the MPS1000 to play home with friends and small gigs (no large venues for a pure week-end band) Pros 8 direct-out : incredible improvement of the basic stereo outputs. I mainly use 1 direct for kick, 1 for snare, 1 for HH and the rest of the kit goes to stereo output. easy to set-up for different trigger types (RT-30HR, 2box ontrigger, internal triggers side or central) reacts well in live environment, never freezed Easy Xtalk cancellation process so far, reliable Cons I use it on different kit configurations and each time I swap kit, I need to redo the trigger setting. A trigger bank would be a great improvement. For me, this is the main painpoint. factory kits aren't so sexy. I ended with 3 or 4 customized kits to my liking that I am using constantly sounds are not so great but nobody cares as long as the audience can ear a "poum-tchak" pattern (same for guitar sounds but that's another story) volume is not consistent from one kit to another one. Hence the need to parameterize your owns having in mind kit changes in live environment. the cable loom has proprietary assignment, not compatible with Roland ones. ride cymbals are single jack. I didn't plan to, but ended buying one to get the full bell / bow / edge . I haven't yet spent time to check their internal wiring to build possible adapters Overall, even if sounds are not as good as TD17's, I sold the Roland, kept the Millenium and saved money. Forgive my approximate english, it's not my mother tongue

I 've had the MPS-1000 for a year, shipped from germany added about $250. I use it to trigger EZDrummer3 and it works great. So far I've replaced the two crash cymbals with Lemons, and my hi hat had completely split in half. The replacement hat is rarely in stock and when it is, they add $90 to ship it to the US. I contacted millenium about compatible brands for replacement and unfortunately, there is no other hat controller compatible with the module. I ended up breaking down and getting a goedrum 360 hat and an eDrumin4 trigger box as a very expensive replacement.

I greatly appreciate the first impression. It is fantastic that you cover details such as cymbal compatibility. I share your concern about durabilty. At this price point, I am willing to trial this or the Lemon kit and see if it's durable enough to have a long term relationship with them. I appreciate how these companies are putting in as much as they can into a competitive price point.

@@roidboy5516 I linked the modules together with their audio out/in connection. Both go into a small Native Instruments Audio interface and then to a laptop. Probably better to connect the signals on a small mixer. You can add as much cymbals as you want until you use all available connections. I still have 2 plugs unused so I could add more toms or cymbals. I dont use VSTs with the kit but in this case you would need to connect both modules via usb.

Awesome infos, thank you so much! One important detail to watch out for: I checked the Alibaba offerings, and the HXM drum module there, while having the exact same control dashboard, has significantly different connection layout at the back: there are direct jack inputs for the triggers (so not even using the same cable snake as the Millennium), and there are only 2 AUX and 2 Master outputs (so no 8 direct ouptuts as on the Millennium) - therefore I assume Millennium is not just rebranding the HXMs but also gets custimised wiring and output connection setup for their modules.

This could be a good starter kit for someone who wants acoustic sized shells and has the time to tweak the settings/use a vst. Then along the years they could upgrade the snare trigger, the toms, the kick trigger. And then they buy a lemon cymbal. Later a used old but good roland module and upgrade the cymbals to ATV/Roland. And they end up with an entirely different kit. Except the shells and hardware is still the same. And some extra money from old parts sold. I spend way too much time looking for stuff in fb marketplace lol.

Yap! That was my way with the MPS-850. So I don't have wood shells. Na, ok, a Jobeky and a DIY 10 spoke snare. I am kind of a stingy person, dude. If you now that Roland or ATV also using the 5 cents piezos. ... Why I should pay $500 dollar for a ride cymbal? Maybe the unplugged noise is less noisy, etc. I upgraded the modules with Audiofront eDRUMin10 and the sounds with Superior Drummer 3. I have every cymbal with 3 zones. And I won't miss these. Damn, the Hihat with bell articulations ... nice. I spent a lot of money for these drum libraries, but it's lika a passion. Sounds perfect. I recently switched to two Roland KD-7, because I was sick of the trampolin ATV 13" mesh pad. This actually feels better. Any thought on that? I still have the ATV pad here... but ... nah... I think I will keep the KD-7.

I have had the millennium for nearly 2 years, and it's about right. Amazing looks, and great functionality variations, like Bluetooth, a lot of useful outputs and the faders are great! I like that as I also have a Roland td17 which sounds great but isn't as easy to manoeuvre. But with regards to actual playibility, and sound quality, it's quite cheap. So I don't get such a great response to fast playing, and the sounds are not amazing. So yes it's great for teaching my students, and I even did take it to some gigs, but wasn't as confident with how it came out compared to when I used the Roland.

I currently use a roland TD12 for live gigs with my cover band. The kit is great and all but it looks like a joke compared to the mps-1000. I run it through EZdrummer 3. Do you think the mps-1000's trigger sensitivity can match a TD12 so it would be worth buying just for the looks? It would look so much better on stage.

I owned a Millenium MPS-850 for some years, and I cannot recommend it. The module sounds are... serviceable, but ideally you'd want a VST. The pads feel okay and look nice, and the amount of features is awesome for the price. The problem is... in the 10" snare/tom pads, they used atrociously bad quality wires for their piezos, and they keep snapping in two while playing the drums.* If it's Medeli that makes those snare/tom pads, well... I guess I should have heeded the warnings. *You'd think some vibrations through foam cones wouldn't be able to cut through hard plastic and metal, but somehow they do. I've re-soldered wires maybe 20 times, and they soon break again at or next to the solder spot. Eventually they would break so close to the piezo that it's no longer possible to reach with a solder iron; you have to remove the piezo from the plastic disk, which tears the foam that glues them in place. I have not yet found a way to re-attach or replace the piezo without losing 90% of pad sensitivity, and I have no idea why. Before breaking out the soldering iron, I RMAed two pads and Thomann sent me replacements, but within months they broke as well. Now I'm the owner of 5 broken, unrepairable 10" snare/tom pads, and my warranty has expired.

Since the set came out as a one up two down set I am very tempted to get me one. Living in a shared living space would make it more playable then my now acoustic set with mesh and "silent cymbals" Knowing that it's a cheap set I was looking more information/reviews unfortunately not a lot of people did/do reviews on the set, anyway it would be more then enough for my needs and doing. The set looks like it's a nice place it there and don't move it around to much set though x) But yeah for 999 euros it ships for free to my door from Germany to The Netherlands it's worth the try. Hey, i´m from germany and i own the MPS 1000 for over a year know. I play it regulary 3 to 5 times a week for 1 to 2 hours and it is a lot of fun because of the sizes an the okay sounds. However i noticed some trigger problems with the snare a few weeks ago, but thomann immediately sent me a new snare. Apart from that, all the cymbals still work without any problems, but they don't have a big dynamic range. Another annoying thing is that the cymbal edges can't be triggered everywhere. it's especially annoying when the hihat turns because the rod in the hardware can't be tightened. In addition, the bell of the ride cymbal doesn't always react reliably. Otherwise, after more than a year I'm still very happy with the kit and in principle I can only recommend it, because even if the drum triggers were to stop working, you could always screw on an external trigger if necessary. So yes, it´s a good set i would say.
@eDrumsInANutshell
@eDrumsInANutshell 7 ай бұрын
Naah, no external trigger. The triggers are just some few cents piezos and easy to replace. You will find foam blocks and trigger cones to buy. Maybe it was loose or something and since it's still within the manufacturer's warranty period... sure. Get the parts replaced. If you sometime would like to upgrade, you could grab new internal trigger system, and the module for position sensing, for instance. Woher bist du denn?!

Why aren't these drums sold in America by Guitar Center or Amazon or somebody local? If there is a problem, you have to deal with an overseas German company? Thanks

All my videos are made with a Millennium 850xps kit in conjunction with GGD and Steven Slate 5.5 libraries and it triggers very well. Ez drummer 3 works flawlessly with it! It’s worth the money if you aren’t going to use the stock sounds.

I am thinking about the unsatisfying dynamic range. What about your soldering skills? Did someone of you try to put voltage devider behind the piezo. If these are too hot for the module, you won't get the lower velocities. This would be ridiculous because the engineer should know what fits together electronically. But as Justin mentioned.... low price pressure and.... ahhh, this will work! So I would solder 2 10k Ohms resistors configured as voltage divider into a TRS socket connected to a TRS jack. Like an extension. I could provide a photo if you like...

@atomiccelery6798 Sure. I got a very hot Jobeky snare pad. And.... huh ... the input stages of the early eDrumIn modules were quite sensitive. I used the method above. On the snare, one has to be careful because high resistance values will deform the transients. Your positional sensing will not work as well as without resistors.

I have millenium mps 1000 for almost a year now so I thought I would tell you something about my experience. At first the drums wont feel as good as u may expect from to looks of it, but if u put some time into the module (setting up sensitivity of the pads and stuff) it will gradualy get better. Since I play metal I kinda had problems with the sound of the pats but when u really go thru each of 200 sounds for each pad I think u'll defenetly find the one u want. The predefined kits arent something to be too excited about. I see a lot of people complain about the hihat and I have to say that at the begining I had those issues as well but somehow I managed to fix them. ( I think I just didnt set it up very well when I bought it) What really bothers me is the thing that happened woth my tom-toms. Cuz when I hit them the sound of the head and the rimshot sound at the same time althought i only hit the head. But I fixed that with muting the rims since I dont really use the rims on toms. The doublebass is no issue for me. Again at the begining it was but since there are two triggers so I just switched to the bigger one and it works fine. So I would defenetly buy this drumset again if I had choose one for the same price, just be ready u will have to set up a lot of things if u want to get the maximum out of it.

Personally i would call them companies rather than factories since they design the products instead of just manufacturing them (and they also sell them with their own brand) Factory to me would be something like foxconn that companies like apple use to manufacture their own designs, so foxconn just makes the products instead of designing them.

I have the millenium mps 750 x pro. Chose this instead of the 1000 because of the smaller size kick drum. Should have went for the 1000 because the module is really cheap, no colour or config option, and only 1 crash cymbal.

You have to ask them for it specifically when you order. Thomann sell them separately and if you're ordering from HXM directly just ask them. Mine was like $40 extra for the 16" floor tom.

The mps 1000 may be a decent set, but there are other e-kits in the USA that are just as good or better. The reason I would not buy it is that it is a good price as is, but once you add the overseas fees, shipping and taxes make this set, in my opinion, not worth buying as you can get a better brand set for around the same overall cost or less and even a much better set is not much more expensive. I feel the downsides of the Millennium MPS 1000 outweigh the positives. If you do live in Europe, I would recommend the kit, but outside Europe, I would not buy the set as there are better ones with available parts for not much more money.

EZ drummer and the MPS 1000... sounds like a killer combo. The module sounds arent great, but who cares, EZ drummer. If things break, then replace with a quality component at that steal of a price. Expect that you might need to change out a trigger, etc.

I own the MPS-850. For my purpose, it serves me well, although it defenitely isn't without flaws. I was considering replacing the module of my mps-850 with the mps-1000 module, because of the individual outputs and the Bluetooth connectivity. Does anyone know if the mps-1000 module will be compatible with the mps-850 kit?
@janoschmidt6764

Actually tried it and it worked. Use the multi-cable from the 1000 to connect the 850s pads with the new module. You’ll need 2 additional stereo cables to connect the second crash cymbal and the fourth tom. PS the sent Midi-notes differ a little between the modules (if you play with DAW)

Great video! I’d like to add that the kit works great with the eDrumin 10, with the exception of the hi hat controller. I didn’t try for very long, but just to throw that out there. Also you just made me realize that the ride is a one cable ride. Switched the setting on the eDrumin and now I have all four zones! Thanks!

The china push from Alibaba really doesn't interest me. I tried some cheap Chinese cymbals. It was no Roland side by side and never will be. If you want a kit that really has dynamics save up some money. Going from Alesis to a VAD kit was like a whole different beast. My playing is MUCH better now. Oh... Also when you order from Alibaba it litter comes from a slow boat from China. Be ready to wait, wait and wait.
