one of my favs. I love this movie so much. I am soooooooo thankful I was a kid in the late 1990s just going to the movies each week and seeing fucking magic in 35mm/70mm cinemas. I will never forget watching this one in 35mm as kid - it was so fucking awesome. It was one of the films that actually taught me some truth about High School innuendos regarding archetypes. It was years later when I became a real cinema nerd that I discovered who directed this film and it just made me love it even more.

The Faculty is underrated. Like the story. High school is one of the best settings to do a film to me. I got 2 messages from this. The first is Teens vs Adults. Teenagers are pretty much on there own the adults are sidelined. a distance. the second is socialize in school. popular unpopular both have problems and insecurities. The invasion being a false narrative taking over the student body. The main characters being ahead and aware. I'd give this a matinee.

I saw this Christmas 1998. I was a huge film buff and adored Rodriguez/Williamson. There was something wrong with the projector and in a lot of scenes you could see the boom mic above their heads. I love this movie actually! Yes it took influence from other films but in that same breath it had its on unique feel to it as well. Like The jock wanting to better himself instead of relying on being the star player most films don’t take that route they usually have the jock gets mad when the teachers say they gotta better their grades ! This Movie takes the opposite route! Now this plot isn’t heavy in the movie but still I like it. No I can’t go into too much detail because I haven’t seen the movie in a few years but I’ve always loved enjoy this movie and that’s just a small bit of what I liked however I couldn’t why someone wouldn’t like it. Not an all star cast but definitely had alot of quality names. Now that Korey mentions it there was a message at the end but I don’t think the delivery was all too good. Like the reverse on the good home belief Jordana Brewster’s character had, Josh Hartnett being the smart drug dealer, or the jock with deep value system. The problem was probably the nerd who was kinda the lead but he didn’t have a reverse for his character. I thought the movie was clever but just not executed well.

The Faculty turns 25! Made $63.2 million The film has a fresh batch of teen actors with quality acting, a terrific score as usual by Marco Beltrami, and makes lots of references to other science-fiction stories It's also got some clever camerawork, a hip soundtrack, and some clever winks of the genre Okay so some might complain this is a direct ripoff of'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' or 'The Thing' and I can see why Some of the CGI is very dated and it doesn't have a consistent tone not to mention the third act taking some misogynistic tropes Yet Robert Rodriguez is a very versatile director so he tries dipping his hand into the teen 90's horror craze that 'Scream' made popular doing a sort of John Hughes meets John Carpenter schtick The characters could be considered outcasts by one could relate to, combining yearning and cynicism and isolation In a way the aliens are a metaphor for these teenagers making their way through the landscape of adults not knowing how to navigate with the only hope being that they have to band together against the chaos This is a cult classic of the time period now from the slang to the wardrobe to the visual effects getting to the core of teenage existence This takes a jab at the class system taking peer pressure to a new level It’s the teenage mindset with plenty of morals around living in a world where everyone can belong, nobody having to be an outcast, all facts are based on some fiction, is everyone hung up on the science portion of these kinds of stories?, is it better to feel no fear no pain no worries in a collective whole, we are tired of being something we are not Rodriguez makes the kind of film with enough pulpy ness and teenage angst with a dash of sci-fi making this quite an underrated gem It’s bad enough high school can be terrifying struggling to survive being alienated but another to have it entirely being taking over by actual extraterrestrials

I like this movie. I watched it less than a week ago. But the only thing scary in it was Josh Hartnett's haircut

14:02 I disagree with that I think the faculty did it better. In my opinion scream gets obnoxious with its commenting.

I remember that the TV premere of this movie in my country was delayed due to a school shooting, I could and still can somewhat see a connection but I still don't really get it.

I haven't seen it in years, but I do remember watching this with my friends and liking it. We were probably in High School at the time haha.

We had The Faculty coming out in Germany in early 1999 but it didn´t do well here either...that´s not because of Christmas or Hilfiger (never seen that commercial here) but because most Germans don´t watch Horror (like I do ;-)). Watched it in the theatre two times and it was a cult movie among my friends directly when it came out! Still holds up. Also the soundtrack was great...Another Brick in the Wall performed by Layne Staley and Tom Morello - great cover!!

Can you do Urban Legend/Urban Legends Final Cut? As a reboot is apparently due in a few years according to IMDb?
