The Faculty is underrated. Like the story. High school is one of the best settings to do a film to me. I got 2 messages from this. The first is Teens vs Adults. Teenagers are pretty much on there own the adults are sidelined. a distance. the second is socialize in school. popular unpopular both have problems and insecurities. The invasion being a false narrative taking over the student body. The main characters being ahead and aware. I'd give this a matinee.

Not an all star cast but definitely had alot of quality names. Now that Korey mentions it there was a message at the end but I don’t think the delivery was all too good. Like the reverse on the good home belief Jordana Brewster’s character had, Josh Hartnett being the smart drug dealer, or the jock with deep value system. The problem was probably the nerd who was kinda the lead but he didn’t have a reverse for his character. I thought the movie was clever but just not executed well.

The Faculty turns 25! Made $63.2 million The film has a fresh batch of teen actors with quality acting, a terrific score as usual by Marco Beltrami, and makes lots of references to other science-fiction stories It's also got some clever camerawork, a hip soundtrack, and some clever winks of the genre Okay so some might complain this is a direct ripoff of'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' or 'The Thing' and I can see why Some of the CGI is very dated and it doesn't have a consistent tone not to mention the third act taking some misogynistic tropes Yet Robert Rodriguez is a very versatile director so he tries dipping his hand into the teen 90's horror craze that 'Scream' made popular doing a sort of John Hughes meets John Carpenter schtick The characters could be considered outcasts by one could relate to, combining yearning and cynicism and isolation In a way the aliens are a metaphor for these teenagers making their way through the landscape of adults not knowing how to navigate with the only hope being that they have to band together against the chaos This is a cult classic of the time period now from the slang to the wardrobe to the visual effects getting to the core of teenage existence This takes a jab at the class system taking peer pressure to a new level It’s the teenage mindset with plenty of morals around living in a world where everyone can belong, nobody having to be an outcast, all facts are based on some fiction, is everyone hung up on the science portion of these kinds of stories?, is it better to feel no fear no pain no worries in a collective whole, we are tired of being something we are not Rodriguez makes the kind of film with enough pulpy ness and teenage angst with a dash of sci-fi making this quite an underrated gem It’s bad enough high school can be terrifying struggling to survive being alienated but another to have it entirely being taking over by actual extraterrestrials
