I love the Futuro and have never experienced scorching. Of course, one should never allow the flame of the burner to creep up the sides of any pan.

I agree, same here. I have the 10 qt Futuro and love it! I have not had the scorching problem mentioned below. Scorching happens when your heat source is set too high, not necessarily from using a gas stove.

2:10 "...neutral..." No, that's the position to remove the valve for cleaning, and should not be used when cooking.

I have one...it always closes, just line it up and don’t ever drop it. Its better than the ones with the long handles...more balanced and secure.

Alan It depends on where you shop, but for the 10-quart model shown here figure about US$160 to $180. I'd advise against the Futuro, though; it has a small base and a fat waist, and if you're cooking with gas you can get scorching along the lower wall. A better choice, in my opinion, is the Fagor Duo. The 10-quart Duo is about $110 to $120. I have the 8-quart Duo (there is no 8-quart Futuro; just 6 and 10), and I think it's a great deal.
