If they wanted a story that explored his further descent into madness, maybe have the nonsensical parts (specifically the freaking musicals) last only a few seconds before quickly cutting back to reality with people watching Joker sing to himself with a combination of confusion at his actions and terror over what he's about to do next. Hell, maybe have the entire movie be a flashback with Joker describing the events to a therapist who is revealed at the end to be Arthur. A manifestation of the last remnants of his sanity. And then Joker shoots Arthur, severing all ties with his former self once and for all. The true birth of the Clown Prince of Crime.

There's so many ways they could have taken it and it'd have been great. Harley using him, gaslighting him into a relationship for her resume. Him struggling inside his head with the Joker through nightmarish surreal sequences. Rock opera. In-universe movie about his actions supercut with the trial narrating the reality of the events to drive home media sensationalism. Him escaping to is followers and having to keep up the Joker persona so they don't turn against him while growing disillusioned with it. The movie just needed to be a little creative and commit.

You haven't gotten a speck of sympathy for arthur, all you wanted was delirious, cathartic fantasy, just like Harley, you wanted chaos and destruction, these new Joker movies NEVER at any point praised or glorified that. While I like the first movie a lot, even with the controversies, this movie was not only inferior to the first film, but it is questionable what exactly this film was trying to say, and how it subverted the expectations of the first film, but not in a good way. The musical elements were some of the biggest issues for me, as well as the stagnant plot and meaningless chemistry that didn’t carry the story anywhere, sucking out the dreary, psychological, dystopian, and emotional drama of the first film with a “fuck it, let’s make a musical courtroom drama with Joker and Harley Quinn that will piss of the fans!”

Worst adaptation of a comic book character ever. Part musical, part courtroom drama that reviews the events of the previous movie, and totally boring. Movie is stuck at the end of the previous film, and doesn't move story of Arthur forward. No need to drag this one out for 2 hours and 18 minutes either. Painful to sit through. If you're going to do a sequel, then have Joker and Harley break out of Arkham and do comic villain things. Fans don't want to see Arthur disown is Joker persona. A lost opportunity is Folly.

Why didn't the Trailer tell the viewer that the movie was a MUSICAL? It seemed that they made a court room drama. But noticed that the test audience who was full of people with ADD was falling asleep. So They decided to include a flashy musical every ten minutes to keep the audience awake. During the entire movie Harley Quinn doesn't act like her animated counter part. In the standard animated version of batman. If joker got arrested Harley would explode something and cause jokers escape. But in this movie she kind of appears to leach off of Jokers fame and nothing more. I was shocked that the court room explosion wasn't her. I also wondered why the joker didn't allow his followers to save him. It's completely exaggerated that the movie was rated so poorly. It really wasn't anywhere near that bad. What bothered me the most was that I didn't find any of the songs really touching. None of these songs will end up on my playlist. Notes with spoiler alert - I would have loved it if Lee had looked at Arthur incredulously when he asked why she was being released from the hospital and said: because I'm not crazy - it would have been cooler if Lee only had her lipstick to paint Joker's grin instead of his full clown mask - the scene in which Arthur is led away from Lee and Arthur turns around and grins again: this grin would have fit better with his singing before the 1st court hearing (during the song keep smiling at about minute 53:00) I think it would have been almost perfectly placed here - the acting of Mr. Puddles was brilliant - the sex between Lee and Arthur reminded me of the rape scene from "the hills have eyes" - Why wasn't Lee really a psychopath who killed her parents? - Arthur was like a dying patient throughout the movie, his death at the end was a gift to him, not a heinous act - the new "Joker" at the end has potential and I liked the mean factor a hundred times better than Arthur

I liked FOLIE À DEUX, I think it was a good musical.

Why would Phillips and phoenix go from the success of joker to this they knew what they were doing. I don't think it was to just piss the fans off but it worked..

And thus continues the tradition of Warner Bros messing up their franchises, again. And blaming the director? How original, WB. You’ve been doing that to Zack Snyder over the past 10 years. How’s that going for ya?

i haven’t seen this, but would the movie have been tolerable or even good had they not chosen to make it something of a musical? or is it much deeper than this?

I loved the joker chapter 2 when I recently saw it. Also, can you do your next video on immaculate (2024), the first omen (2024), or even Batman Arkham Knight (2015) (video game)? Either one if those next will do

18:01 after seeing that shot of her, I finally realize who lady Gaga reminds me of. Scarlett Johansson!

Quite unfortunate that studios still aren't gonna learn from this...

Maybe I like the sequel more than others (even though I still don't think it's good) because The Joker shouldn't have an origin story in the first place and shouldn't be sympathized.

Every American related to the character. This is how we feel in America today. That's the real truth.

I was very disappointed watching this movie recently.. it was trying to hard to be a musical instead of a sequel to the first joker move.. not worth the price for the tickets...😔

I think that's the point. They'll make more money with a bad, cheap, and defective product. Manipulating your loyalty. Works for everytime.

@@cookieanddabutt2843 I see your point It seems like making outrage sells more than make making a good product, otherwise they wouldn't do it so often

I'm not sure how i feel about Matrix Resurrections catching that stray... just because you don't like a mirror turned on yourself doesn't mean the movie was bad.

Joker 2 is probably gonna end up like Star Wars: The Last Jedi in a couple of years when people reevaluate it. I don't think either are good movies. They both try to subvert audience expectations which is commendable but the execution ends up being INCREDIBLY sloppy and unsatisfying. I know what both films were going for and I respect the heck out of them in that regard, but they both fumbled it hard by doing stupid and unnecessary things that muddle what they were trying to do.

If they wanted to continue so bad, why not just make this joker basically a canon event for batman and many of the other villains and introduce Harley as a way of keeping the joker legacy.

The first movie was "Falling Down" but with the joker instead of a businessman. Different from the slop that was being made, but not original by any means.
