Brilliant story told with sincerity in the seanchaí style. Probably the truest form of audience entertainment.

I heard of Biddy through this great storyteller. I had a fascinating chat with an Irish chap on a bus from shannon airport, about her and the fairy folk earlier in the year. He knew lots about her and fairly lore.

Mrs Mac knew exactly what she was doing , the old brush by the fire was way more useful to her than old Gasty up in the room making her miserable. Biddy thought her a Letting Go Lesson.

It is just a ruin now. Dr Bill Loughnane a local man in Feakle used to maintain it.

I was just thinking about how little people are present across many cultures all over the world. Elves, fairies, gnomes, many more not in English that I don't know the name of. What is it about these stories that evokes such strong interest by people. Why is it such an appealing idea to the human mind. What is that.

My stepfather Jim McGaugh grew up in Rayville, Mo and he had a persistent wart on one of his hands. So he was told about a healer lady that lived in the same town and went to her woth money and she put a rag on that hand. Then she told him to leave it on there until it fell off on its own and according to Jim it did and the Wary had vanished.

Not sure how this Appalachian man with some Murphy family ties wound up here but im glad i did. Sounds like she knew the coffin would become impossibly heavy somehow and this was more of an elaborate curse than anything. Interesting story, i wonder how much its changed over the years snd and what the original intent was. Thats some scary stuff for a lady to be messing with in those times, i know here stateside she'd likely have been one of the first to be put to the flame.

One fine summers morning as I walked down the Strand, I met young Damsel, she was decked out so grand. She had rings on her fingers and bells on her toes and she told me her age was just nineteen years old.......
