I think Walker is a scathing commentary on how the US military has treated veterans since the end of WWII. Clearly has all kinds of trauma and PTSD, and rather than give him help they give him a nearly impossible task, and then when he cracks they disavow him.
@jordanaiken71383 жыл бұрын
As a Vet myself I love the way they are handling the trauma and consequences of not dealing with it. The issue with most PTSD is the sufferer often doesn't know how bad they really are and the people around him are coddling him by pushing unwarranted affirmations instead of confronting him about his behavior and mental issues. As well like you said it also highlights the disregard for the broken toy soldiers the government creates.

I love the beginning fight/moments of this episode so much because of their parallels to Civil War: ranging from the variation of the Civil War music to the disabling of armor and the dropping of the shield. Such a perfect way to describe exactly how far John Walker is from Steve Rogers; especially since Walker appeared perfectly content to aim for the kill when Steve aimed to incapacitate, and Steve was willing to forego the shield and title of Captain America while John refuses to let it go.

22:16 I'd say that these shows are character studies that explores what makes a hero. so the Arc is going from person to hero and sprinkle in fantastical strength and Super antics at the high stakes action and you have what makes a great superhero story. That's why spider man might be the best super hero because not only does a teenager figure themselves out but they figure out what makes a hero and have to embody that. like in homecoming - Peter gets buried under a building, looking to anyone, someone for help but realises he himself has to step up and be the hero. just the concept of with great power comes great responsibility encapsulate what makes a hero.

The number one thing I am so grateful to the leadership at Marvel Studios for doing is that they are the first entity to really find a way to bring what has been great about comic books since the late 80 and early 90s into the mainstream. The way that comic books tell stories. They amazingly found a way to transfer that to the screen. Comic books have been an inherently disrespected storytelling medium by people outside that world for a long time. Marvel Studios has found a way to showcase the depth and have even structured much of their cinematography to be framed the way that comic books are drawn. Their movies now serve as the bigger story arcs and their shows as the smaller and maybe stranger connective stories. The MCU has set a precedent for so many other comic-based properties to follow. To have the guts to go for it and tell these stories the right way. Not to just make them mindless action movie fluff for children. There is far more to them than that and it is amazing to finally have people who understand and value that at the helm. I just wish we had it at DC. I didn't grow up reading Marvel. I grew up reading DC. DC Comics characters almost exclusively owned superhero movies as a genre in the 20th century. Owned by Warner Bros. for a good chunk of that time. Marvel had very little presence. And Warner Bros. regularly and sometimes purposely disrespected the medium that kept these characters alive for decades. They were more concerned with getting their characters on a Taco Bell cup than telling a good story. Let alone one that dealt with depth that could be appreciated by adults. They still quite clearly don't know what the hell they're doing. They have good moments amidst several bad ones, but they're flailing. There's no plan. Not like Marvel Studios. I really wish there were. I guess I'll just continue to watch the amazing work that Marvel Studios is doing and dream.

What a rollercoaster, both the episode and your video. Now 'that's' how you make good KZbin content, right there! Well done Adam and Jay, your channel does it right!

Only found you guys recently but you've quickly become my favourite reactors. You combine genuine indepth knowledge and passion for the source material with a genuine raw reaction to what you're being presented without being afraid to show how the events affect you. And boy, you think Sam and Bucky are a bromance? You guys are way ahead of that.

Y'all are a whole vibe. I just remembered why I often enjoy watching reaction videos as much, if not more than, the shows themselves.

I fully expected a Forrest Gump reference from you gentlemen during one of the boat scenes....and as usual, you did not let me down. Keep being the spot-on, quirky, best in the biz that you are.
