Okay, Aekold is my favorite monogod champion. My goodness his story is so cool and I love what Tzeentch did to him. A warrior of destruction, who is also a medic and can move really fast on the battlefield. He is so cool and I can't wait to use him in a Tzeentch campaign.

@christiandauz3742 Not sure, I wouldn't think so as they are all monogod only unlike Archaon, Kholek, and technically Sigvald. It wouldn't make sense for them, especially Festus, to be able to recruit a rival God's champion, no matter who is recruiting and who is recruited.

That was a really interesting moment in the story where he was fully aware of when his actions would result in a final direction that he could not return from(which is more awareness than some characters in stories are fortunate to have) and he still chose to go the direction of chaos with them even laughing in the wind.

The irony is that the Witch Hunters basicly pushed him into the fold of Chaos, he was not even an actual Tzeentch worshipper until he was forced into the far north. Would he have had a proper trial and a way to prove his good intentions, Chaos would not have been able to corrupt him. His backstory is a perfect exemple of how the Empire actually produces champions for their deadliest foe (just like they did with Archaon) and that's the grim darkness of the Warhammer we know and love.

I honestly theorize that this might be what the GW authors try to get across. People on twitter call warhammer a nazi power fantasy but I feel like the whole idea is that the warhammer universe as a whole is so ridicously radicalized that the Empire's (fantasy empire and 40k empire) biggest enemy is actually itself. I havnt read the books but from my understanding its a very similar pattern in 40k where, for example, Magnus tries to stop Horus from falling to chaos, which makes horus fall further into chaos because Magnus decided to come to him disguised, which in turn leads to Magnus also being labled a traitorous heretic when he tries to warn the Emperor.

@@schnitzelfritzel6287 yea don't mind the people on twitter lol I mean Mankind being its own worst enemy is a common theme in dark fantasy but what might confuse people is all the propaganda both the Empire/the Imperium go through as the "good guys" from their own perspective, but it's just that. They convey quite paradoxical messages of hope but also a very cynical view of our specy, which is what makes it very special and fascinating to many ^^

Sadly they can’t, both in fantasy and 40k you can’t give fair trails to people (in 40k specially because the goverment itself is so vast and incompetent), because you are not dealing with average men/women, you are dealing such malevolent forces that can corrupt, twist or destroy you with a whisper. That’s it’s why they are so paranoid, that if you expose the populous to this ideas even more would turn to chaos. Which in a way it’s a no win sceneraio for men. Either it’s true that in their desire to protect and do good, they give their enemies some of their greatest champions.

Ha a trial, for a suspected chaos cultist? That's hilarious! Keep in mind this is a universe where a single cultist left to their own devices can erase an entire town. This goes double in 40k when you have entire planets that can fall to chaos, Viraks is a prime example. The Empire/Imperium aren't swift and brutal in their justice just for funzies they exist in a universe where damn near the entirety of existence wants humanity _gone_ or warped to the point where human isn't applicable as a label.

@@czukarpathian6621 You are right about it being scale armor and Cathay mainly using laminar armor. That said the thing is that Empire doesnt use scale or lamelar armor at all. In fact they use 1600th century style cuirass or full plate and thats pretty much about it (nothing alike to his armor). And then theres the shape of his armor (mainly the sleeves). So his armor is far more Cathay like than Empire all this considered.

I've seen people say wtf is wrong with their hands - that is a nod to the TT miniature IMO. The whole look of Aekold is a nod to the TT miniature, some people forget that this IS Warhammer and it started like 40 years ago, some models and art looks old and funky lol.

Aekold was always my personal favourite champion. Due in no small part to the exerpt you read from the Liber Chaotica (a personal treasure of mine, I bought the first copy my local store got when it came out and read it multiple times, it's wonderful)

Aekold always was an anigma to me. When first learning about him I thought it was a slice of fanfiction because of how strange it is that a champion of Chaos would carry the lore of life wherever he went. Kind of the opposite nature of Chaos itself. Glad to see he's making the cut and hearing about his story again.

Chaos is what its called, Chaos. It cannot be labelled one specific thing. Khorne supports both wild fanatics and honorbound defenders. Slaanesh grants aid to those who give into their hedonism and those who rebuke it so they may master a skill in totality, Tzeentch grants powers to schemers and those who would break the schemes, and Nurgle is just a really ugly granddad.

Whilst yes having evil characters and evil people do evil things, I did like the lore where the Chaos gods had their "positive" counterpart to what "bad" emotions have (e.g. honourable fighting amongst khrone, tzeentch creating change through having the downtrodden getting rid of a tyrant ect...).

That is a good question. He would be much more of a menace on a mount. The CA page introducing Aekold is talking about his trip trough the Northern Chaos Waste, by horse. So it very well possible he will have a horse as a mount.

I think the text was pretty obvious that Vlad was more skilled, but Aekold's life aura passively destroyed his undead body and he only needed to survive until then. Not that Aekold isn't incredibly skilled, able to last that long against a recently bloodbuffed Vlad.

@@kallemort i am confused, if you are going to hold Aekold's life aura against him, why aren't you applying the same standard regarding Vlad being a vampire and holding this against Vlad? You are essentially saying that Aekold's life aura made the fight unfair because Vlad doesn't have a life aura. But Vlad being a vampire and essentially immortal, that is totally fair. Its not like, according to you, being a vampire gives you unfair advantages. When Ulrika became a vampire, she was equally as strong as before she was a vampire, according to you. explain this logic to me please.

So scaling Aekold above Vlad (and thus above the others Vlad might be superior to) wouldn't feel right. So Aekold > Vlad due to compatibility, but that doesn't mean Aekold > someone equal to Vlad that isn't undead

At least they listen and answer. Unpopular opinion - Sigmar is the reason why the Warhammer world has fallen. All he had to do, was answer.

I don't think Sigmar didn't answer to them because he knew there was some darkness in their hearth... It is because their question was too personal, selfish, inadequate of a warrior that should always put the defense of his fellow people before his concerns. the real culprits for sigma not responding, are the Writers. sometimes i think i should have some sigma stories talking to his followers or other characters

or perhaps the culprit is the god of chaos tzeench, who Possibly prevented sigma from communicating to his followers
