@@caribbeanstrawhathonestly i did have an idea that the world of JJK was starting to get tired of playing sukuna's game and essentially betray him and get him defeated, making yuji become a second sukuna that is more morally good, like the universe itself threw away their old toy to get a new one that they could actually feel nice for helping, i.e earth post their teenager years finally decides to stop being edgy. 😂

REALLY Good video! It puts a entirely different perspective on the series as a whole. Also, I never noticed the (very DIRECT) parallel between what Mahito did to Nabroa and what Yuji/Nobara did to his Cursed Womb Brothers. Even down to the visualization of it. It even more solidifies what Mahito was saying to Yuji afterwards

13:53 this fandom criticism pisses me off so bad like people going "why didn't [insert minor character here] get more focus" as if they would've made any meaningful changes or addition to the story. like i've deadass seen complaints abt not knowing shouko's backstory even though she was already in hidden inventory and exists more as an outside observer to gojo and geto's conflict. it's fine to enjoy minor characters but character stans tend to get emotionally attached to the point of brainrot

15:15 is exactly right, and it's why the moments Todo and Choso show up to support Yuji always hit so hard for me. They have been there, they know the pain, and their words to Yuuji always help him achieve insight and deeper integration. Yuuji isnt perfect though so we see him integrate imperfectly, sometimes a bit toxically, but the struggles he faces are extreme, its to be expected. Thanks for the thoughtful video.

RIGHT? And despite what people believe about the ending I find it perfect because it shows Yuji giving advice and treating someone who would be harshly judged and shamed, with compassion. Telling him, hey I know you can do better! I believe in you and genuinely smile at him. Possibly saving this guys life that could have in turn believe that he is incapable of change. 👏🏻 Like yes… give me more of THAT.

This is a very western take on an eastern piece of media. This doesn’t address the theme of JJK, which is that it’s better to live a life where you’re surrounded by others, rather than by yourself. This is stated by Yuji’s grandfather and why Yuji puts himself in the world of the JJK to help others. That’s the separation between Yuji and Sukuna, not by taking Carl Jung’s ideas of the Persona and shadow. It’s not really about Yuji’s inner conflict but rather HOW he lives his life which I think that this essay is really missing

I've always thought that JJK's story revolves around a theme and the characters represents different products that stems from the faults of humanity or their own. But people are just too dead set enamored by grand stories with intricate world building and character reuse / call backs that they forget JJK is NOT doing it that way and does it's own thing.

You did your research and understand the concepts you're talking about well and how they relate to JJK. I'll give you a sub for that. Your title completely misunderstands what the fanbase cared about with Yuji and just looks like clickbait to me. Or at best, you unknowingly misunderstanding the situation of why so much blame was thrown at Gege. For that I'ma have to give you a thumbs down. Your insight on theme based stories is good, though.
@NoeActually
@NoeActually 26 күн бұрын
Haha thanks for the feedback. I actually had the title as “philosophy behind Yuji’s writing”. Then changed it when I released Megumi to make it more of a “series of videos”. I think… the audience didn’t understand the point gege was trying to make at all. Because again. Most people, till this day, separate sukuna from Yuji. Which is quite literally the entire point of jujutsu kaisen. Maybe I didn’t phrase it in a direct manner. But my entire goal is for people to reread or watch the anime with a new point of view of the message the author is trying to convey with the characters and be like oh… I can see why Gege decided to do this. You know? It is why I rather do thematic covers and how this are shown rather than telling you scene by scene what is happening. You are actually the first person to explain a thumbs down. Thank you. And glad to have you here!

Man, I appreciate the time, effort and research you have put in to make this video. But the video feels unfocused, going in all sorts of directions without clearly stating the main point. Did you even explicitly mention what the fandom missed? Taking references and quotes from other literature to support a thesis is fine, but here it feels like you’re picking quotes and trying to fit them in rather than building a coherent argument from within the story itself
@NoeActually
@NoeActually Ай бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. To clarify, the video’s central focus is the relationship between Yuji and Sukuna through the lens of Jungian psychology, which is also a core theme of Jujutsu Kaisen. I stated that emphasizes Yuji confronting his shadow (Sukuna) and the “monster within” to save Megumi like 3 times throughout the video. I explained how Yuji embodies the persona and shadow, using Jung’s framework, then explains what’s within the shadow (complexes), how it goes from neurosis to dissociation (which is the whole not being able to control Sukuna thing)… While I understand the critique about the video feeling disorganized, the core message remains: separating Sukuna from Yuji misses the point of their integration (aka individuation). I’ll work on improving clarity in future videos-thank you again!
@FullyAnimey
@FullyAnimey Ай бұрын
@NoeActually Hey man, thanks for the clarification! I get that you mentioned Sukuna as Yuji's shadow, but I believe Yuji truly confronts his shadow during the 'I am you' moment. He initially saw himself as kind and just, but his perspective shifts during the fight with Mahito and Sukuna. That’s where his individuation happens, and after this fight, he evolves and experiences true happiness. Sukuna is not a Shadow of anyone. He is a calamity that causes disaster wherever it goes. This is just my perspective. Still, props to the heavy research and connecting so many ideas. All the best man

@NoeActually 2 ай бұрын
@ you gotta be specific. What plothole? The ending was rushed sure. But rushed does not mean bad. Evangelion was rushed and a great ending. If Sukuna was Yuji’s shadow and the entire point is integrating yourself with the shadow. Was that not exactly what was portrayed in the story? Which character were introduced that didn’t 1) offered a new perspective on topics like ambitions and strength (including luck) OR allowed us to learn more about the main characters?
@NoeActually
@NoeActually 2 ай бұрын
@ kenjakus ending is about Geto. And him having someone who can understand his loneliness and allow him to experience life without having the responsibility he once carried as the strongest “moral compass”. Because he really did believe that “there is no way a sorcerer would quit”when talking to that Q member. So, Gege got Geto to be a nurse(not a doctor), a comedian and got to enjoy life. And then died in the hands of someone who’s supposed to represent true love(which is Gojo’s narrative foil as the opposite of absolute power is absolute love). And when he asked Yuta if the guy knew… and Yuta said no. He was happy. Since the it was all genuine. And that’s the thing. A lot of people do not pay attention to the message being told throughout the series and then complain about not understanding. . Dark fantasy explores the similar themes. So they are easy to spot when you are familiar with them. You can’t criticize Gege’s writing if you are separating the curses from the vessel because that’s literally 70% of the message.

@@NoeActually yeah, it could if the story had been building up for it, for instance if Yuji didn't have accepted Mahito in the first place (I imagine, at the end, that there'd be Sukuna finally acknowledging Yuji as a part of himself which would allow him to get the upper hand, fully individuated, and defeat Yuji). But for the story as it is, that'd just feel empty and nihilistic: after enduring so much pain and losses, putting himself into question constantly, sacrificing his old self, getting his body and ideals scarred and broken down yet to keep pushing and rebuilding himself stronger, more apt/fit to truly help other people, to give the support and compassion they actually need... for what JJK has been, Yuji losing at the end is just pointlessly cruel and devoid of any valuable meaning imo

Idk man theres so many dropped plot points like the merger. Gojo glazing sukuna instead of being concerned about his students, nobody really showing any true grief apart from one panel of from gojo dying. Plus the way gojo dies was ridiculously poorly written. How quickly they were willing to defile his body and everyone is fine with it? The characters seem to be allergic to plot info like not asking about sukuna at all with angel. Theres so many poorly made choices like this.
@NoeActually
@NoeActually Ай бұрын
I see… well Gojo was fighting against Megukuna… so Megumi. He was glazing Megumi (while also realizing how he failed him… because he truly thought he was doing the right thing by pushing him and telling them to fence for themselves. Which it works for some… but not for others). So, Gojo’s death wasn’t the point. That’s why the death itself wasn’t shown(please see the end of devilman crybaby) it will put it in a bit more context. It was not poorly written, it was simply a way of telling you the death doesn’t matter, what matters is what is being said afterwards. But I get it. Characters are important for some people. Especially someone as special as Gojo. 😅

About the gojo not worrying about his students: 1. He already stressed that in shibuya, but saw how strong his students grew in his absence. No need to worry because I’m shibuya they were screwed without him but made it out, so even now they can be screwed but live. 2. They already stressed that there’s no need for emotions like that when you’re dead. It literally comes from sukuna’s mouth vs yaya. 3. No one worried about others when they died. That’s how you create a curse. 2 Gojo+ leveled curses would be too much to handle for the students.
