The first snowstorm of the year, not a big one, but winter is here. Dad comes up and we cut diamond willow for future workshop projects. Trying to fix the log splitter. Chains on the 4wheeler.

That old Jotul f118 is my favorite stove. They are great stoves and weight manageable. Restore it and it would be worth a lot of money, but you'd be surprised how much space it will heat. I think it's one of the best stoves ever made. Say "Hi" to your dad for me.

If you watch Joe and Zach Survival, I have a whole playlist called "Winter Workshop Projects" or "The Workshop" or something like that. Most of those videos are showing my Dad doing his projects. I will probably be posting more videos into that playlist as he comes up here more often.

Your Poulan revs up and down because you’re buying and using gas with ethanol. It’s the ethanol that does that. If you are buying gas, buy the premium fuel, most stations have none or very little ethanol. Don’t run ethanol in anything with a carburetor. Also, you should always empty the machines of gas and run them dry for storage. Friendly advice from a marine parts manager and former marina owner from Ontario Canada.

Joe, That plate in the small stove goes with slant to the front. The top is a cook stove so the gases and heat go across the very top. My grandpa had one in the tractor shed for the winter to work on the tractors.

Joe, surely Zack has told you to NOT leave ethanol fuel in your equipment for extended periods of time. It is ALWAYS a good idea to turn off the fuel supply and run the carb dry before storing and gasoline equip, 2 or 4 cycle. Also, since you leave the splitter outside all year, the points are probably corroded and a quick cleaning with a file or sandpaper would restore spark to the plug. Maybe a 45 minute fix at most. Zack probably would have it running in less than an hour. For a guy with so much gas powered equipment your mechanic skills need to match your carpentry skills, which are legend.😊

By the way Joe that snowblower cycling up and down is usually because the idle circuit in the carburator is not functioning properly, the carb may need a good cleaning if it was left with old gas still in the carburator for a long time. There are a number of videos on Mustie1 that explains the problem and the usual fix. Good Luck

My type A just wants to get in there and sweep the shelf on the stove and clean up with a broom around the stove. git rid of the ashes and stuff. I'm surprised that Joe doesn't sweep that given how often he cleans the tent table and microwave door with windex, and how often he vacumns up there. I guess some things bother Joe and others do not. I'm betting that the wood splitter engine has points behind the fly wheel. You would have to pull the fly wheel off and then the tin cover that is over the points and file the points. They are probably white and crusty. And the idle circuit on the snowblower is plugged that's why it's surging aka hunting. I personally run recreational fuel in all my small engine stuff it has no ethanol in it. So it doesn't gum up your carbs. Hope this may help and thank you for the great content. Hope you and your family have a good holiday season.
