You are now aware this is the only version of "I was on the Central Line" still in existence. Bless Arthur for singing it that night, or future generations might never know this Blitz classic.

I watched a clip of Max Miller performing, and was as confused as I would be watching Arthur Atkinson! Maybe Whitehouse's caricature is not as abstract as one might think!

If only The Good Old Days had been this brilliant, it'd still be on the telly.

Impressive that the Central Line/Bakerloo Line song was specially written for this sketch!

You mean written by Arthur Atkinson for his sketch back in the war? That was impressive! ; )

The music hall comic as a thoroughly dislikable man whose act is just a set of catchphrases and a sentimental refrain. No Huddian fondness for that lost world here. Weird, cold, eerie -- as Whitehouse could be, better than any other modern comic.

'Weird, cold, eerie', an absolutely perfect description of what has always bothered me about this period of so called entertainment!!
@hyena1312 жыл бұрын
@@2760ade Nonsense!!! It was bloomin' marvellous - full of cheekiness and optimism often in the face of war and poverty. And of course great rib tickling fun and spic and span clean, rib splitting humour.
