you say if you don't like the game you're just unlucky... I can't express how right that is. How many games have I played where I watch unlikely numbers like 10 or 11 get rolled 4-5 times more often than 6 or 8. The game hates me

While this was an interesting video, it unfortunately doesn’t follow the current rules for variable setup for Catan. The 18 circular number tokens aren’t just placed randomly, there’s placed following a counterclockwise inward spiral starting from a corner, from A to R, intentionally to prevent multiple of the same number lining up directly next to each other, or having a 6 next to an 8. I’m not sure if the original version of Catan had such letters. Additionally, only 1 Development card can be played per turn. It was a fun video, and I’d definitely like to see more like it, it’s just a shame that this first one had such errors.

Yeah, obviously they just set up the board for an ideal roll possibility to maximize player resource generation. The other issue I have is that in the first trading scenario the winning player "trades" for all of the opponents' resources without giving anything in return. This is also against the rules, you can't trade something for nothing. The best you could do is trade one card to each player for everything they have other than the resource you offered, and then trade back one more card for the final resource, but each opponent is still left with one card in hand.

The Victory Point cards in base Catan do not have to be "played", just slapped down when you want to declare victory. This is different from Cities and Knights where the two remaining Victory Point cards, in fact, have to be slapped down immediately.

@@Bleighckques Yeah, giving something for nothing is only allowed in the Frenemies scenario, only in very specific circumstances, and not enough to speed up the speedrun.
