all you need is to get new ram, xmp ram and enable xmp in profile and then you will see some nice improvment in games :) i have the ge76 raider with i7-10870h and when i change the ram to lower timings and xmp ram it was another beast

I actually cannot stand large touchpads where my palm has tot always be on them. It's a matter of preference. Personally I don't see what a large touchpad would be useful for. It's one big reason why I moved from the GS line to GE line of laptops as soon as they introduced the new huge touchpad on the GS.

Some laptops have "adaptive display brightness" or whatever its called when on battery, that slightly alter the brightness and contrast of the screen depending on the content thats being displayed to try and same some battery. If he did this, probably his other color gamut measurements are also incorrect. It's still MSI and other OEMs fault because this "adaptive brightness" bullsht is a very idiotic feature. It barely saves any battery at all and sometimes and in some models it completely screws up the displays colors and contrast and makes text on some backgrounds completely impossible to read. I will never understand why some windows laptop OEM brands are so freaking retarded in some aspects still in 2021... Like still putting complete trash speakers in any gaming laptop in 2021 and stating "dolby atmos, Bang & Olufsen, GIANT SPEAKERS AND SUBWOOFER" and stuff like that on their product page and marketing, and then it sounds worse that our smartphone tiny speakers lol. Poeple keep buying these brands so they keep cheaping out on everything they can. It's not like MSI is a cheap brand at all, it's one of the more expensive laptop brands and still maybe the ones that cheap out the most on many aspects of a laptop. Also, 360Hz on a laptop? Where is 1440p 165Hz like others are doing right now? Damn, can't wait for my 800Hz 720p ultrafast G A M I N G display! Lack of 1440p display panel for this MSI Raider G76 model makes no sense. 1440p is the sweetspot for this hardware. 1080p yout RTX 3080 is there sitting at 50% utilization cuz CPU bottlenecked. At 4k you cannot really push 4k60 Ultra graphics on the latest AAA games. But it sure as hell can push 1440p 120 to 140 fps on the highest settings!

The GP series used to be "budget" but I don't think they are anymore (since MSI scrapped the flagship GT series that were above GE) A regular (High TGP) 3070 laptop goes for around $1,600. MSI GP76 is $2,100 msrp and $1,800 at the lowest I've seen. That's premium pricing, not budget.

You should watch GizmoSlipTech's live stream of the alienware x17, that is the fastest laptop on the market both in gaming and multi-core workloads, as gizmo showed the i9 11980hk reached 15k points in cinebench r23 which is much higher than the r9 5900hx and plus that crazy cpu performance it also has a 165w 3080 and the 1440p option has advanced optimus which is a better version of mux

The Ryzen CPU is not that good, Intel is better for gaming. If you want a cheaper alternative to Intel with more cores then sure get the Ryzen, but that thunderbolt 4 is a game changer for those that want 4k monitors. Ryzen also uses less power than Intel so if battery life is a concern then I would go with a Ryzen laptop.

I own it, i have friends who have Legion 7i and Razer blade 15. Its all within 5-8fps. Dont stress these little bumps or whatever tbh. try to choose one that has the things you desire like keyboard,display, features. They are all close in games because they all use the same hardware. You can undervolt this along with dropping the core speed by .2 for a 14k+ R23 score without it ever going over 60c in CPU and GPU for a great experience. I recommend a Legion 7i, Prometheus XVI, or the Alienware 17'' 3080 and of course what i have, a MSI GE76 11UH but good luck finding ANY of these. They are ALL sold out.

191 nits has to be an error. The 360hz panel they use in this, and the X17, hits over 300 nits in other reviews. Get rid of MSI color app. That is what's taking down the brightness.

I wanted to love MSI so bad but I just can't. I had some laptops from them and I sold them. I can't stand how much they cheap out on so many things and literally trick us into thinking we are making an intelligent purchase and that we have a great laptop when we just aren't/don't. The only thing that I appreciate on their laptops are the keyboards, for years they have been very nice feeling, steelseries keyboards. But everything else is just... very mediocre at best. Performance is nice, but for the price and specs it better be. MSI is a very expensive and mature brand, but yet, they are still one of the worst purchases you can make. For years MSI might have top 1 as "the worst gaming laptop speaker quality", and in 2021 they keep being trash speakers, no matter how much they put 50 speakers and subwoofers around the laptop and state "GREAT SOUNDING SPEAKERS / GIANT SPEAKERS" on the marketing of these laptops. Investing in a very mediocre 360Hz 1080p instead of great 500 nit 1440p 120-165Hz display like Legion 5 Pro and others are doing in 2021, is just very childish from MSI. They still act like if they were Acer or other cheaper brand trying very badly to grab little kids attention. Little kids won't buy a 3000€ MSI. Adults will. And adults notice how childish and non-professional MSI is. Their build quality is also always bellow average, for a VERY above average priced laptop. Screen hinges breaking on MSI laptops is a common problem since early days. Loud and inconsistent fans too. Bad touchpads also. Meh TN screens too, that MSI insists on calling "IPS-Like". They use TN because IPS can't go 360Hz. They always choose an old and bad display tech/panel because it has a big Hz number. for a 3000€ laptop. This is how childish they are. I'm so done with MSI, I can't recommend it to anybody. Don't tell me there's a 4K version because the base 1080p version RTX3080 still costs 3000€. MSI laptops even these top end ones also come in packages that look like shoes boxes, brown smelly basic cardboard with ugly white foam with the laptop squished between it. It's just like buying an aliexpress item. Again, 3000€. Asus Zephyrus line is better than MSI in almost every possible point, and they are cheaper.

There is a configuration that pairs an i7 with the 3080. Will the i7 bottleneck the 3080 in gaming, such that we may as well go for a 3070? Assume competitive gaming usage (eg, Valorant, call of duty, overwatch, etc) with and without an external monitor. Details: MSI GE76 Raider 11UH-245 has i7-11800H 2.40 GHz - 32 GB RAM with RTX 3080 with 16 GB.
