They have different dragon centers for different laptops. Make sure to go to their website, find your computer, and download the dragon center. I have a gs65 and I cannot use the newer dragon centers on it.

Great review Jarrod. I love the GPU performance of this machine! I think if I had one big criticism of the chassis design is that there is only two heat pipes to the CPU. We’d probably see quite a bit better CPU performance in CPU only loads if this had a third shared heatpipe to the CPU coming from the GPU side fan. I hope MSI updates the heat pipe design in the future so the CPU power limits can be increased further, even Razer CPUs would need better cooling to hit max performance.

I own the 15 inch version and couldnt agree more, even while idling the left fan (CPU fan) is audible and its 80 mV undervolted too. This isnt what you expect from a machine that costs as much as an old car. Pretty happy besides that though

The GE76 has way better performance, the Alienware has better keyboard, is thinner, and the software at least works, even if it isn't great. Oh, and I think the Alienware has more vibrant lighting. I'd take the Alienware just for the keyboard but that's because I don't only game, but they're both too expensive really. I think the M17 only has 8GB Graphics also.

@@justinvzu01 Dude, this is wrong. I have the M17 R4 (maybe you're thinking of the R3 or something). The M17 R4 has the same 150W GPU and hits the same numbers. In fact it will score higher on some games/bench and lower on others by 1-3 FPS. The Alienware has power delivery, Gsync, and better keyboard.

@Pilot16H it works like the normal Optmus, which uses the integrated graphic instead of the dedicated one for basic functions, except that the common Optimus has the problem of leaving the integrated graphic active even when it shouldn't and this slows down performance, while Advanced Optimus it turns off the dedicated when using basic functions to save battery and when using the dedicated it turns off the integrated increasing performance.

The advanced bios pretty well sold me on the laptop. Annoying to look for a $3000 laptop that has an actual bios. Being able to configure the trip points for fans is huge for longevity.

your GE76 seems have some problem.... My GE76 with 10875H and 3080, 1080p 300hz, can handle 70W+150W when cooler boost with Furmark to let the CPU and GPU both fully loaded, and the temperature only got 85°+70°, it's very impressive temp-----My room temp is 20° by the way The only thing i done is adding 2 bottle cap to lift up the back of the laptop, just like what ROG did for their zephryus 😀 And I even did not repaste for it! Heard my friend who also bought GE76 but with 3070 said, repaste GE76 with TFX, can let the temperature 5° cooler than stock paste... My opinion is: If you are a gamer who looking for a powerful laptop with a great thermal performance, and dont want the laptop be too thick, then GE76 is the best choice :D

Man, it's always the same shit with ryzen mobile. They have great cpus that are both powerful and efficient, yet they always get shafted when it comes to gpus. I understand that last years models had a pcie bottleneck, but what prevented those clevo and tongfang models from having another 20-30w for the gpu with their top of the line ryzens? A 5900hx+150w 3080 would decimate anything, considering how power sensitive ampere is compared to Turing. 3090 has a tdp of 700w lol.

Do you think that Asus Rog Scar Strix 15 with Ryzen 5900 and RTX3080 would be better for video creator and graphics? I have to choose MSI6E76 or Scar Strix 15 (first world problems :) ).

The 64GB version with 2TB and an i7 (Dragon Edition Tiamat) is $3400 but hasn't released yet. Some said this was going to be around $3700-$3900 for the i9. (EDIT: Something else, the i7 version runs a lot less hotter from what I've seen, this is definitely due to the i9, not the build quality.)

Hey Jarrod really good video, you helped me deciding to buy this gaming laptop and I really appreciate that a lot, but I have a small doubt because I’m not sure if this is suppose to be like this or is a error from factory: when the laptop is open and I try to close it, it gets stuck and I have to use some force to close it, sometimes bending just a little bit the screen from below, as this is my first proper gaming laptop I’m not sure that it should be this way. From my experience using a ge66 with a 2070, msi has a very good build quality, nice touch pad and a very good screen and software. What’s bad is the keyboard getting hot after few hours of gaming (like real hot on wasd) and their fans are a loud, also the gamerish build is not so attractive. But i do miss the lighting bar in the front

the display really is disappointing, i bought the 144 hz 1080p display, the color is not vivid at all. Red looks more like orange, and hot pink cannot be displayed properly, more like normal pink. Other colors are somewhat dull. GE75 display is so much better!

Thanks, it synchronizes the refresh rate of the display with the frame rate of the game so there is no screen tearing, same principle as FreeSync on AMD laptops.

I have this laptop.. and at the same time I have many problems with that laptop... Problems with screen and colors problems with ventilation Sometimes when I close it it doesn't go to sleep mode, but somehow starts to heat up and vents turns on on maximum..... so I need to open it again and turn of.... This laptop has very nice stats... but not everything works in this laptop like it should..... And when you pay that price... its really disappointing.. it should be top quality product....

Intel xtu is locked for my model (gp65 10sfk) even after enabling oc and xtu interface in the bios menu for undervolting Ps: updating the bios didn't solve this problem

My GP65 10SFK also had that problem even after enabling it in the bios. The only method to undervolt is using ThrottleStop

Got it last week but I grabbed the model with FHD screen @300Hz and i7 10870H cause I want high framerates. I get close to 32k in Firestrike without overclocking the gpu yet your machine is stuck around 28k? Weird. All in all it's a beast and the gpu runs very cool. Can't tell the same about the cpu but, Intel, you know...

Thank you for this thorough review, Jarrod! What HDMI version does this laptop support? HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 2.1? Also, what version of the SD card reader does it have? UHS-II or UHS-III?

It didn't specify 2.1 and lists 4K 60Hz so I assume 2.0. Reader also not specified.
