Pro tip. Instead of butter, use clarified butter (or Ghee). Tastes exactly the same or better and holds a much higher temperature for pan frying. Especially good for small crumbed fillets like whiting because you can get the pan super hot, without burning the butter, to get a good crunch and not overcook the fillet

That's good to know. Nothing worse than burnt fish.

I did a bit of sea fishing in my early teens back in the mid 80's living in the med and fishing along the coastline of Ibiza, pulling a little spinner off the back of my windsurfer (line tied to the mast - no wire trace, the simplest rig) and catching the odd mullet and dolphin fish (the med version, a fast streamlined fish, not so big and heavy around the head and gills). Those critters would go straight to the galley and into a pan of olive oil. What I'd like to know, because I notice you're not showing it here, is how you despatch such a large creature. Back in the 80's we had a kind of club thing (can't remember the name) just a few inches long. But I think one would be there forever with such a tool and a big bugger like the one you caught here. Not fun, not for the angler and certainly no fun for the fish. Enjoying your videos. Don't stop! Regards from the UK
@uberbeast1132 жыл бұрын
Yeman, the little club thing was called a PRIEST. After a little googling it seems the way to kill a big catch is a knife severing the spine near the head. Not surprised you don't show it lol
@m16865 жыл бұрын
Yes it's a great idea fishing alone to have a kill switch with the lanyard. You can make the lanyard long enough to you can get all the way around the boat. But if you fell in, the boat will be stopped for you! Great video with some great fish.
@SammyHitzkeFishing5 жыл бұрын
m1686 yeah definitely something to consider mate, Might have to make up and extension 👌👌
@Alan_lay5 жыл бұрын
Good call on the life jacket Sammy, I do the same when running solo, I also run an extension strap on my safety lanyard, that way I can still move about the boat and if I end up in the piss my motor will shut off and my boat won’t sail off into the sunset leaving me for the sharks.
@SammyHitzkeFishing5 жыл бұрын

Btw, there was nothing "unhealthy" about the way you cooked the fish perhaps a thick batter and deep fried isn't the best but the way you did it was fine.
