did this in 2008. was the 2-6-0 along the lake to meirigen, then the rack tank 1067 or 8, 7 i think,(they own both i think and have recently either started or finished overhauling the spare which was plinthed at meirigen for years) over the pass and back. mum got angry/bore when they started pushing back into sidings on the way back to Interlaken to do wine tastings and was placated by dad by a meal at the grand palace hotel or whatever its called in Interlaken lol. booked on again when i was in ch in 2022 paddle steamering around and it was cancelled for fire risk. on that front from 04:11 in the video we can see PS Lötschberg, built 1914, approaching Brienz pier. when i first went in 2008 the line from Interlaken to merigen was run mainly by 1938 built electric locos, as old as the lms duchesses, eking out their days. think they were binned about two years later sadly.

Very interesting ride, Henry, and a nice steam locomotive. In Sweden the railway from Anten to Gräfsnäs also has steam locomotives capable of running 60 km/h according to their website, but I don't know if they actually run that fast.

I’m sure you are aware that you passed the valley station of the Brienz Rothorn Bahn (steam mountain railway) at Brienz Station. Unfortunately the railway was very badly damaged in storms a few weeks ago and it is closed till next year at the earliest as much of the line has to be replaced.
@robehickmannАй бұрын
sounds complex, hope they can get it sorted.

Yes there was a very bad storm, but all will be replaced. I could be even worse for the Brienz-Rothorn-Bahn. The damage on the Zentralbahn (former Bruenig-Bahn) is even worse.

@@georgeshuber7150 that's good to know.

Another train I need to ride if I ever get to Switzerland! Thanks for sharing. BTW, it's Interlaken, not Interlarken.
