yes which justifies its use to build meter and gives your opponent the space for some zoning if they have a character with good projectiles so its more of a hinderence than an advantage especially if said projectile comes from a character who can teleport

Yo I never knew the stance could that, I never needed it to be honest. MK 9 kinda surpassed Trilogy has my favorite MK game well for one, my cousin and I "no lifed" the shit out of this game when it came out cuz it was Summer break from school and it was just so fucking fun, while yes frustrating at times cuz it's like bro... really? I lost to that shit but unlike newer NRS games I didn't want to stop playing because especially with MK 11 it just feels not only slower but so limited to what you can do. And the tag system was legit, well for us anyway because we got to the point after finding our mains, trying out other characters and eventually getting good enough to win with any character and finding different teams that flowed together. Hell sometimes we just said fuck it pick whoever you want, the other will adjust accordingly and we pulled of some sick ass shit unexpectedly at times. We learned you could do a tag combo into another tag then X-ray (which scaled so much it was pointless really) but when we did that shit to someone online and won the match with it...dude it was Flawless good time lol...btw I double Flawlessed this guy at school cuz it was like the last day of my senior year so we just had a party basically and he was talking shit, so I juggled him from one corner to the other with Liu.

I'm glad you did a video on Liu Kang. He was my main in MK9 along with Smoke (Secondary Main). Liu was super fun to play as and ending a combo string with an EX bicycle kick was satisfying as hell.

Nah It seems like everyone is unaware that broken is synonymous to fun Most strings being plus like that made trading far more enjoyable and action packed opposed to Mk11 where you literally have to stay using the same 2 strings and single hits over and over until you hit confirm into something unsafe Even unsafe moves in this game for the most part were safe

too bad it was basically useless. On top of building no meter, you can't cancel it out of normals, the only good moves were 1 and 4 since they're 0 on block and even if the movement if that godly, the execution doesnt have enough reward attached to it since you can just block dash and it's far easier for a character that's really simple to play. even xblades, the liu kang god, barely used the stance like this. you would see more TK fireballs than this ever.

Is pointing out X string was zero on block that much of a big deal when like almost every string in MK9 was zero on block. If this was MK11, sure, but MK9, zero on block was the norm.

it ties in to the fact he's got ridiculous pressure. Once you factor that his strings are that good, then incorporate the stance, in comes the brokenness. His strings on base value, are pretty good right? The fact he has that stance is what makes them even more ridiculous, cuz then you're guessing even more. Is he gonna stance into throw? Is he gonna stance into low? Is he gonna stance into mid? Is he not gonna stance at all? Etcetera etcetera, it makes the guessing game even more powerful because the resulting possibilities becomes even greater.

I hope you make videos like this for MK X too. They don't have to be "The Most Broken", it could just be "Why Alien was so strong in MKX" and I'd watch every video. You could even do pre-patch/post-patch comparisons, like how Raiden worked his way down the tier list, for example. Or how Subs only viable variation was Grandmaster until the last part of the game's life.

Only person I know who can stance and cancel as fast if not faster is Jin Kazama in tekken. Back 1 into mental alertness and then input forward to cancel it immediately, rinse and repeat. Pretty nuts

Liu Kang fireball cancel in mkx can be done so fast that you don't see it and literally repeated the same string about 2 times before they fall. Ninjakilla is good to watch for that.

The movement cancels in TEKKEN make all nrs games look like kindergarden games on a gameboy....in TEKKEN you can instantly cancel ALL MOVEMENT INTO ALL OTHER MOVEMENT..and MOST stances can be canceled instantly..incorporating stance transitions into neutral game is a normal part of ANY character that has a stance...Lee Chaobla can even SIDESTEP while remaining in his hitman stance(looks similar to liu kangs stance here)...lei from teken uses a stance cancel to go backwards faster than pressing back back ...MK is a joke and i cant belive its sells copys sill just becouse the funny cartoon like gore animations

Have you ever bothered to understand why fighting game characters face each other in an open position, as in why their backs usually dont face the screen? Attacks that dont switch a visual position from a back turned stance are more difficult to react to when you have less visual information to go off of. Think of Batman's big cape in Inj2 if you turn him or anyone else around and throw out their fastest normal you have less visual information to react to as opposed to an open stance. That doesnt mean you cannot react to it u just have less to see. Thats also part of the reason why punches and kicks are telegraphed in fighting games. If you've ever seen a Boxer throw a straight without winding up its more difficult to react to because its not telegraphed. Next time you pop in a game with a stance switch try to apply critical thinking. PS: When you get to the high competative level you usually know what the other player is more likely to go for but staggering helps making close encounters less predictable. When you add in less telegraphed attacks you give your opponent a harder time to guess and react because theyre under pressure.

I'ma say the truth : NRS animators can't animate for shit. There are a lot of problems regarding the animation in their fighting games, with characters refusing to animate properly. The stance switch button literally shows this problem. I encourage you guys to go watch ABI's videos on the subject. Look up "ABItorial : Mortal Kombat X".

it means your opponent recovers from block stun at the same time as you. if you're minus, your opponent recovers after than you. if you're plus, you recover faster than your opponent.

Check out Stryker's gun cancels it is just as fast as liu kangs cancels. It is something that was unexplored but it is something i used with a hit box you can gun cancel in to gun cancel and throw in mix ups in to gun cancels to keep him safe even after his unsafe 50/50s while building meter and constantly keeping your opponent down blocking because they have to respect the gun shots at any range. You can also do EX gun cancels so If they jump you can just let the gun shoot and catch them out of the air and combo off of it into restand or gun cancel in to anti air kick into combo and then back to gun cancels.
