At this point I'm realizing that mk9 is what tekken 5 is to the tekken series, a game that innovates and is way better that it's prequel, but that also is stupid fun because of how broken stuff it has. Whereas also in tekken 5, also the bottom tier characters had broken stuff to work with

For Tekken it's a tough call outta Tekken 3, Tekken Tag, & Tekken 5 (which introduced my main Raven btw, I was a Law main beforehand) but with each update Tekken 7 is creeping up on being my fav in the series, and I've been a fan of the series since 1995.

So long as they didn't press a button they wouldn't get re-frozen so it wasn't super consistent if someone knew the MU. The damage you got off of it also wasn't anything crazy compared to most of the roster. It was good unbreakable damage to close out rounds with if your opponent has a breaker, but its mostly a gimmick to see if someone knows the MU

nope. this all sounds very fun because everyone is unique and extremely powerful but in reality it was very annoying to watch or play at a high level. go watch any tournament. fuck, go watch Reo's own tournaments. he literally does nothing but run with kabal from one end of the map to the other, abusing his bullshit buzzsaws. everyone abused the one trick they had and it was bullshit. ketchup lost a tournament final to a shitty quanchi player who did nothing but abuse unblockables. that shit isnt fun. MK9 is only fun casually, but it's the most fun MK game.

I played an people loved it at first then started to massively bagged it. And NOW, everyone says it was the best. Sub zero was "bottom tier" but he was a bitch to teleport characters and if you got stuck in the corner it was over bc you couldn't get low or crouch and that little mid string that was zero on block could freeze you if you didn't block it.

Doing Rain's kick special into tag then ice clone leaves the opponent in a pretty awesome frozen pose, used to pick Sub and Rain in tag fights just for that

Nah. Noob had the best corner play in the game. Watch when he finally talks about the most broken corner character you're gonna see Noob Saibot. The reason Noob was nerfed to the point of nearly unusable in Mk11 is because of how amazing he was in Mk9 and what's worse is I found him to be slow. Hes even slower now.

Mk9 noob was obviously better overall but mk11 noob is highly slept on he can bring someone to the corner with ease with his range and his d1 poke is -4 and his d3 on block is at the perfect distance to mix you up with a f211 if blocked that’s (-3), or after d3 he can go straight to b11+3 where most of the cast can’t even punish it. Go try it out yourself. he’s great for spacing which means he can have a mind game behind it.

One thing he forgot to mention about Sub Zero in this game was his unblockable. And conditioning your opponent to block in the corner with the ice clone out, then when they feel a little safe you do the unblockable. I remember doing a specific set of buttons to get super high damage but the numbers were split, but it was an actual combo if the timing was perfect. It would be like 30 + 20, it’s been years so I don’t remember completely

Another odd thing Sub-Zero had, as did Ermac iirc, was a back+2 input that could be held down. Holding this input charged the attack and rendered it unblockable. The scary thing about Sub-Zero's version, however, was that it also froze his opponent. Using this from behind the ice clone against a cornered opponent was a great way to keep an opponent on their toes.

I was a Subzero main in this game. When I came from old games into this, I was so shocked how good his clones were. People said he was low to mid tier in this game but I destroyed people online. I always felt this was the best version of subzero because of the clone combos and setups. I hated his mkx style because they took out the swag and made him more of a 50/50 guy but he still had the counter zoning.
