This is the ‪@MAXUSACORPTools‬ HN120 high pressure concrete and steel nailer. It'll shoot 2 1/2" nails into concrete and steel. I've been using this for a couple of years, and it is much faster and safer than powder actuated tools. I had the psi at 305 for this. #framing #construction #building

That's 100% untrue. What happened is that the walls were poured on a Friday afternoon, trucks 2 hours late. The mud was bad so we sent it back, batch plant closed and they wouldn't send us new mud. We finished the walls the following week and stopped using that batch plant. I'll be documenting it in a full video soon.

Finally got to use our new gun attaching strapping to CMU on an old commercial building so we can re-side it. That gun is such a blessing! So easy to use and so much easier, less dangerous and quieter than the old bang sticks. An excellent investment I shall say. And it's really as easy as you're making it out to be.
@nicholasittzes7224
@nicholasittzes7224 Жыл бұрын
Sure is quieter, and way faster too. But have you ever heard of someone in your circle having an accident with a Ramset? I haven't, and our own crews used them all the time. Besides that, there will surely be some accidents with these guns, especially at such high pressure.
@mpenrod
@mpenrod Жыл бұрын
@@nicholasittzes7224 you are right, at least with us, in regards to accidents with Ramsets. But we've had rounds that don't fire after being struck, which, if lucky only require a reload. Most of the time, they get lodged in the gun and have to be prayed out which requires time. I've also seen people miss the Ramset and hit their wrist with their hammer. So, to me, even at a higher pressure ( which neglects to mention that even at 100-120 psi, regular pressure nails will go through flesh, from 3 1/2 framing to 2" 18g brads, just as easily), this gun is very safe as long as you're not an idiot with it. Plus, when you have around 500 nails to drive into CMU, it's also about 2 days faster, therefore far more productive and profitable.
@nicholasittzes7224
@nicholasittzes7224 Жыл бұрын
@@mpenrod I think if I had to pray for a jammed charge to come out, that could set me back a while too!😂 (Just teasing. I think Autocorrect got ya. ) What's CMU? Steel? I guess I could see the 22 hammer actuated nailer taking quite a while, but we usually used a 25 cal strip fed model with a trigger. That never jammed, but a bunch of rounds with red charges would start to make the hand ache.

@nicktrayer5426
@nicktrayer5426 Жыл бұрын
I'm impressed. But for all those commenting on this. First you can build on that slab after it as time to set up usually 3days min. But best practices is to wait a week. Second I'm more concerned with the horizontal Crack on the back wall, don't know if it's supporting a dirt hill behind it but my guess is it is. Third you should wait min, of 30 days before framing on concrete walls. Concrete takes a long time to cure when it's that thick. Fourth it looks like you have a vapor barrier where slab meets the wall but it isn't code to put a sill seal on the floor if it already has a vapor barrier. Finally I don't understand why you would be putting the plates down first unless you are going to have a double bottom plate buy that seams dumb, and a waist of material. But there are a tone of ways to build a home. So you do you. But I would like to know the tool name and what pressure you are running at.?

I was given a building estimate that contained pricing for this barrier material. It wasn't expensive really but it was going to require the material at every point where wood and concrete met.

The difference is, it's a high pressure compressor and it's actually smaller than most but I get what you mean. If you have other guns for it, it's totally worth it. We have the high pressure framing nailer, high pressure just hanger nailer and this concrete/ steel Pinner. The framing nailer is around 40% lighter than our stick framer plus it holds around 150 nails at a time which makes getting into a rhythm much easier. The joist hanger nailer is also nice and light and way faster than hand driving and hold around 50 nails in a clip. It's already paid for itself in our company. Same goes for the concrete pinner. We only used the hammer actuated Ramset so between the two, the difference is obviously night and day (depending) on how many nails you drive. We just recently strapped an old block building to reside it and this made us way more efficient on this job. Same with a deck ledger attached to a poured foundation. We anchored it with the nails and then went back and drilled it for Titen HD screws. Way easier.

$3000 plus for that setup. also it seems to bust the concrete out sometimes. those nails are expensive too.

isnt it supposed to have some form of insulation against moisture underneath the wood? its odd attaching wood to concrete directly
@AwesomeFramers

As commented many times here, no because this is pressure treated wood (made for this) over a slab which sits over 12" pea gravel and 2" foam insulation.

Why? On a wood floor we nail walls to the floor. Have you looked at the rating for these nails?

Where is the sill gasket? Or is that pink wood?
@AwesomeFramers
@AwesomeFramers Жыл бұрын
Its pressure treated wood, there is no need for sill gasket. Especially when considering there is a vapor retarder and 2" foam under the slab.
