Great idea Ray. Maybe cable ties would be better than string which will inevitably rot.

Indeed cable ties would have been a great option but when on allotment you scrounge around and use what you can cheers Ray

Thanks ray, we make our own compost , dug up some carrots,potatoes and parsnips today for Sunday lunch tomorrow, I'm just picking loads of cherry tomatoes 🍅 in the greenhouse, we have been lucky to have a good growing year, hope all is well with you.

I've got a few pallets so can go ahead but I'm wondering if it's worth lining it with plastic or chicken wire? I've seen some people do line them though I'd prefer the easiest way of course. I'm thinking if necessary the framework could be extended forward as the pile increases by adding another pallet on each side. Tfs.

I have a 4 bay pallet video on my channel which currently is covered in nettles. You could use plastic or netting .You are supposed to allow some air into your compost so let me know what you chose

@@GardeningforBeginners I've just a small set up. I'll check the shops for some sort of net. Thank you.

I did same set up using chicken wire and zip ties.

If you put weeds in won’t there be weed seeds that you’re potentially putting back into your areas you want to grow veg in? Or won’t it matter?
@GardeningforBeginnersАй бұрын
Properly managed, a compost pile should easily reach 140°F, which breaks down all organic matter, including weed seeds.
