@procrasti-nation95173 жыл бұрын
Yeah, i've been using it for years solely for recording, but with the possibilities of 11pro, one might have to consider cubase more as an instrument (with a learning curve similar to that). totally love it!

I prefer playing my chords on the keyboard, but I DID learn something new: I had never thought of having Cubase analyze and identify the chords I had played into a MIDI track. Cool!

You are a genious in teaching, your vids help out so much! In my opinion the discussion of how computers kill (rock-)music is totally overcome. You clearly showcase that the DAW is a real instrument nowadays and puts people in place of enyoing the process of making music without the restriction of expensive gear or some "magical expert knowledge only for inaugurated". Handmade music will not die because of computers, but it tremendously helps the lesser talented (like me) to get their stuff going. Awesome Work, Man!!!

Guys like this on KZbin can show you more in 10 mins then a year or a few at college. I was using cubase for years in the early 2000s then had kids and got back in to it probs like last year. I went to college and it just couldn't keep me entertained as at the time I was more active at home then I was in a class at college. I ended up dropping out (shock). But this last year just from youtube alone and dedicating lots of time I finally get somewhere still lots to do but definitely improving. 👍🏾

Now that I have my MODX and as soon as I have it set up with the three-tier stand (ordered from Sweetwater, just waiting on them to get restocked so they can send it my way) and as soon as I have another computer (or laptop) for the DAW, you bet I’ll be taking these ideas and suggestions in this video to heart. (My MODX is temporarily set up on the box t came in, which is in turn on the boxes for the monitors)

Dom you should know that you are one of the people that convinced me to stick with Cubase and I'm glad I did. I realise that the one thing that sets it apart is how flexible and customisable it is. While most DAWs have similar standard default features, Cubase actually allows you the flexibility of doing the same thing in a variety of ways. These tips for creating chords without a keyboard are great. There are several situations where using a keyboard is not possible, not just for those who don't play. I'm wondering - does Cubase have some kind of melody generator/assistant with similar features to the ones available for chords?
@DomSigalas4 жыл бұрын
Cubase has a virtual keyboard but I would also look for the arpeggiator midi effects ! They can have super useful tools for writing melodies!

Thank you dom. I knew the function but there is however something not yet implemented as far as i know : whatever the method all the notes of the chord have same length, velocity and starting point in time which is not 'normal'. I then have to use the logical editor to try to humanize but it would be absolutely great to have a kind of 'humanize' button when you create a chord, no ?
@Steven-do2dp Жыл бұрын
I have the same question! Have you found a workaround to humanize this? I know we can edit/automate the velocities afterwards semi-manually (or adjust the exact starting points and lengths of the individual notes), but there must be a more integrated/automatic way of doing this within the Chord Functions of Cubase?

Chord Tracks were introduced in Cubase 7. Earlier versions had something similar to it, but not to the same level of functionality. Also, the functionalities of the LE Chord Track are limited to the circle of thirds thing and don't allow you to go much further into making your own custom chords.

And if you open the score editor and forget about it, you can pick explode from the score/functions menu and in the arranger window it will split the chord into seperate tracks from which you can easily drag and drop the regions on the instrument tracks that you want to play the chord notes.

Hi Dom, is there any way you can use the chord facility in your video but to write chords across say four or more parts, say with inversions etc. Cheers!
@vainsacrosanct20144 жыл бұрын
I also use the chord track function if I need chords that are in harmony with a bass sequence. You can use the scale function in chord track to determine the right notes of your chords when you select "chords" in the midi editor pull down menu and have them in tune with your bassline. Very easy. Especially when the notes in the editor turn grey or red to let you know of the notes of your chord are in the same scale as your bassline or sequence. You should do a video about that. Just create a 4-note bass sequence in 1/4 with retrologue and use chord track to set the scales at each bar and then use the midi editor for your chord progression to make them sound in harmony. Nice video. I love your channel. Helps me a lot. Cheers!
