The Fauves - Medium Pacer

This was the first Doctor single since Don't Get Death Threats Anymore and he even agreed to front the band in the film clip. The record cover is the worst we have ever released but, as if to compensate, the video was the best - possibly the only time we've ever looked even remotely cool on film. Across 14 years Doctor has proven himself the best riff writer in the country. He writes the songs that make the whole world want to tune their guitars down to C. The original record cover featured a photo of the 1980's Queensland medium pacer John Maguire - we even sought his approval and got an enthusiastic sanction - but the photo was out of an old magazine and didn't scan too well so we had to ditch it. Medium Pacer was the last official single off Thousand Yard Stare although the song First Day On The Run was released as a radio-only single in early 2001.

Great little funky pop groove from one of Australis's most resilient bands and eclectic song makers. I rocked up to one of their gigs years ago after this was released, it was the first thing I'd heard from them, to find the band are anything but a bunch of hipsters. Actually normal dudes. Nice blokes too. So cool they're still together.

@JCStorm76 I know right! That 4 album run of future spa, lazy highways, thousand yard stare, and footage missing is absolutely incredible. Their new album tropical strength is up there with their best work as well, amazing for a band that's been around 35 years!

Bands like used to epitomise everything I hated about the “muso’s” in my class at high school (I.e. the hipster triple J crowd). Weird part is I actually like this song, just not the people who listened to it. But we all grow up sometime. 😝
